I am almost done saving for a laptop with Nvidia gtx 940, 2gig dedicated ram, 8gig ram, Intel core i5 laptop, would this be enough? Or I'd need an upgrade few months after using it? I'm thinking of starting with Maya, I heard its more complicated than blender, but it's very good, I intend learning the hard one.

That should get you through most 3D task at this level. You would not need to upgrade few months after but, you would definitely need an upgrade as you move up the complex scale.
Maya comes with Arnold now which uses CPU to render so the most important things should be ram and CPU. Gpu isn't a top priority at this level unless you play games with it.

You're good for now. I know someone who does modeling with a laptop that is as good as 3 on a scale of 1 to 10 where the one you mentioned is on 8
Maya is not a wrong way to go, at all.

The problem with me is the money i don't want to buy a laptop that I'll start thinking of upgrading after a short time, my intention is to create a trademark, a YouTube and fb page, where I'll be posting my short animated series episode by episode like penguins of Madagascar, I'm not doing it for money, I just love it, though I wonder if people make money from it, point me in the right direction bro, is the core i5 bad?

If you wanna take it seriously, even as a hobby, a core i7 desktop would be preferable.
Laptops tend to get hot while rendering and sometimes might damage the board.
Your planned laptop isn't bad, per se. It would take you through very basic low poly models and rendering of very few characters, few materials in a very basic environment. Core i5 7th and 8th gen would be great but, risky on a laptop.

Can the laptop be used, yes. Can you get quality models with smooth interface previews, No.
All your works will be basic. But, here's good news. If Minecraft can be so popular, you could make a good impression no matter how basic or low poly your characters look by being creative.

Here is an example of high quality models vs low
Right is low poly, left is high poly.

Yea, that would work, you still face the risk of heat dissemination though but, yea, a core i7 laptop would do the work. Just don't overwork it. It's from experience. Maya rendering roasted my laptop

what about if you use another app to render your work?
Like I use Maya to model and use keyshot to render.

Yea, that's another good way to do it. I was talking based on Arnold, as it's the default render engine that comes with Maya from 2017.
I don't know if keyshot is a cpu or gpu based render engine. You could tell him more about your pipeline as another option. I've only used MR and Arnold and a glimpse at VRay

Nice... I like the soft light reflections, soft shadows and falloff.
Try to bevel your edges though.
In real life edges aren't that sharp. wink

bros are u using a laptop or a desktop. ...let me know where to start from.

nd what is the spec.

I'm using a desktop.
You can use a desktop(preferable) or laptop with minimum of
core i5,
2gb or 1gb Nvidia gpu,
8gb ram
FOR A START
But you're gonna need to upgrade very soon. Like a year after

For one that would stand the rest of time for a while, get
Minimum
Core i7 5th gen
12gb ram
Nvidia gpu 900 series 2gig

Ram and processors are key, of you wanna use maya

You can start from bein familiar with the interface and then start making simple shapes to become familiar with the tools then we move up from thur

It's a core i7 2k, Nvidia gt730 4gig, 8g ram desktop

Hey bro,

Is your corei7 CPU a 4th gen or 6th gen processor?

Want to get mine assembled.

I bought a pre-built body for 100k
Additional ram 16k
gpu 45k
monitor 20" old school Advent 18k

Though if I knew then what I know now, i would've added just a little more money to get a better gpu.

I bought mine 2016 so the prizes might be different.

No, it's a 2600 and pls do get that 6th gen if you can, though 4th would still do well if you won't be ble to get the 6th and higher. Cuz, I'm starting a gradual upgrade this year. Little by little I'll rebuild the system, pick components I need and throw the rest away.
