I didn't watch the match, but if the stats are anything to go by, then it seems we ought to have been spanked silly. 28% possession and 1 shot off-target throughout the entire encounter. Sounds to me that we were very fortunate. I know stats don't win games, but did we play well? Or maybe the stats are not telling the whole story? |

chucs: Still, its highly unlikely she will be relegated to the bench. In soccer, every coach has his preferences which may be tied to the prestige of such players; Oshoala in this case. So, let's just hope she becomes better. If not, I doubt they will drop her oooo 1 Like |

comodo: Kanu looks quite shaper and more skillful than Oparanozie. But what Oparanozie has going for her is her overall involvement in play. Asides, being the CF forward she sometimes drifts wide and interchanges with Oshoala(who also goes central some times). My concern now is if we have a credible replacement for Rita Chikwelu. That woman has monopolized that CM position for like 10 years now and she always plays 90mins of every game. So I don't know if they have developed any player to fill that position in her absence. |

Jarus: VAR remains controversial. In that Argentina game, Rojo's handball which would have been a penalty went to VAR and wasn't given. If we had that penalty at that time in the game we would have knocked out Argentina. The argument was that the ball bounced off Rojo's body and onto his hand.. Fast forward to champions League final and within a minute of kickoff the ball bounced off a spurs player and onto his hand ...VAR says penalty and Liverpool score. So there we had similar circumstances go to VAR with different results

mostob: This is the only reasonable angle you've brought into the discussion. The others are still smarting and are not thinking straight. I commend you for this. You might not believe it but this recommendation of yours might be considered in tweaking the new rule. I commend you once again. "If the Goalkeeper appears to have left the line but does not interfere with play during the penalty take then the goal stands and a Review in not necessary". - Mostob Recommendations 103 on New FIFA Statutes. wayodude: I do not think both incidents were remotely close in the final, Sissoko was pointing to whoever that was and IMHO, Mane sighted his extended arm and struck it, smart play from Mane but Sissoko's hand should not be there, it gives a whole new meaning to 'unnatural position'. I can't remember the ball hitting his body before his arm, it went from Mane's boot to his arm, penalty anyday. In Rojo's instance, he was alone and he jumped with his arm in a position that allows to stability in midair, his arm by the way is barely inches away from his head and wasn't exactly above his head, so when he headed the ball it was impossible to get his arm out of the way, however that may have still been a penalty(some refs may have given it) but recall that the ball then kindly dropped for Ighalo in a position better than a pk, advantage played and he missed, that's that. So two reasons why the PK was not given: 1) It was not a clear offence and in that case the benefit goes to the offending player. 2) we had an even better advantage 1 Like |

You gave everything Girls. You should be proud of yourself cos we are proud of you. I cried!! It was quite disheartening. Unbelievable! I surprised myself crying for a soccer game! Lol. If you know the value of effort, going out of your limit against insurmountable odds, you should know what I am talking about. Thank you Falcon for this incredible moments. For me, I want you to just come home right now. Our squad has been adversely depleted with injuries and suspension. Just come home now my Ladies! 4 Likes 1 Share

iSlayer: The penalty taker reacts to moves by the keeper when taking a penalty. When you leave the line, you are able to cover more angle, the penalty taker reacts by kicking the further wider to compensate and then it goes out. That definitely is interference. |

safarigirl: There is an interpretation to this your comment that is funny. I didn't realize people had pointed this out explicitly yesterday, Thankfully, there are people who think, out there. I didn't visit the internet for much of yesterday. At least Mostob brought that recommendation here. If such recommendations are implemented the better because this would mean that even if the keeper steps off the line, a penalty taker who misses the target/balloons the ball would not get another opportunity to retake. |

rabzy: This is too elaborate for a spot kick. Again, the penalty taker doesn't react to movements by the keeper. The penalty taker picks his spot and smashes it in that direction. if the kick is off target that is up to the taker not the Goalkeeper so I don't agree with your position. |
