Icon79: I think this is just your perspective based on how you view South American teams as tough on the pitch. But in reality, European teams are more technical and have a better head to head than them. E.g Chile could not beat Germany in the last confed cup final, Germany defeats Argentina and Brazil recently, even us (Nigeria) beat Venezuela 3 - 1 in our last friendly game with them. |

Joebie: U know each time I see these our U15 teams I always have the feeling that a proper selection process was not done. That's why when it comes to the U17 only few of those previous U15 players progress through because a good number of quality players were left out during the U15. A few connected academies are just benefitting from these U15 programs. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Mickael2: They are better now than they were in 2016. However, I'm just saying they will compete and they will definitely make it out of their group if invited to the Copa America. Even the organizers recognized them as a real threat. Those other teams you mentioned fell off eventually on the way to the final: Netherlands knocked out France and Germany. Switzerland knocked out Belgium. England knocked out Spain and Croatia. Portugal knocked out Italy. This winners then moved on to the Semis with automatic qualification to EURO 2020. So I think it's a very interesting tournament that one shouldn't underrate. Portugal did well. 1 Like |

portugal beat croatia (future world cup finalists) beat an inform welsh team that had defeated favourites belgium so it wasn't smooth sailing to the finals for portugal like you are making it seem italy finished 3rd in their group in USA 94 got to the finals. Argentina finished 3rd in their group in italia 90 got to the final so what is your point? Mickael2: 4 Likes 1 Share |

I agree. The Euro teams may be more technical but it's also easier for mediocre teams to win the Euro championship than Copa America. Hence, you can see countries like Greece and Portugal winning the Euro. And in the world cup, it's pretty easier for the Euro teams to do well just by the virtue of the fact that you have too many Euro countries represented. Those are facts not opinions, by the way O pari breezy147: 2 Likes |

Please tell me what Portugal has ever made the World Cup semi finals. And don't forget that in 2014, countries like Colombia and Costa Rica made the quarter finals. And Argentina made the finals and outplayed Germany but were just unlucky to lose that game. O pari Humility017: 1 Like |

If Argentina defeats Scotland then we're out. But if they draw or if Scotland wins narrowly, then we're as good as qualified. O pari Bolowolowo: 1 Like |

Thank you, my dear! And don't forget how they were helped by the ref against Wales - a team missing its best player (Aaron Ramsey) in that game. Portugal has a decent team and a great coach, but to say that Cristiano Ronaldo performed a miracle by winning the Euro with Portugal is BS upon BS! First of all, like a perfect storm, many things worked to help them win that tournament. Secondly, Portugal won in spite of Cristiano Ronaldo and not because of him. That's a fact! Portugal has won trophies in their continent that Argentina have not won for the past 6 years.... or you wanna tell me that south America plays football and more stronger when it comes to end result than the European teams 1 Like |
