thats the problem with some of you people, you turn everything into a game of chest beating and bragging. Nigeria controls Ghana economy, ibo controls lagos economy blah blah...... even if it is true Who cares? that does not give you the right to insult or incite the host community that welcomed you and gave you an opportunity to flourish. Afterall if you could make it in your own home you wouldnt travel. nobody leaves his home if he is able to flourish at home.

respect your hosts, it's a very simple principle of human decency
you people dont seem to understand this very basic point.
It goes both ways.
I don't think any sane person would insult his host if he is treated well.

The fact that you are a visitor does not mean you have no dignity.

The man would spoken on the fact that Nigerians are subjected to pay high school fees for being taught nothing. Nigerians ran to Ghana believing their educational system was right. Don't blame the professor because his outburst is based on what he sees happening. But, who are to be blamed if not our stealing leaders whose children are in schools broad in the sane countries. He did this to let the government that Nigerians that are schooling in Ghana is wasting their money, time for learning nothing. It is a great shame giant crawling giant of Africa.

Why shouldn't he be sacked and arrested for that inciting video, he thinks it is Buhari that he can talk about anyhow.
You live in a foreign country where you earn your living yet badmouthing them and I'm sure he is a Nairalander.

My major problem in all of this is that this builds up hate and trouble for fellow law abiding Nigerians living out there, we all saw and heard what happened in Kumasi Ghana recently.

What are you guys talking about ? What is the incitement in the statement ? He only asked the nigeria media to cover the positive side of Nigerians living in Ghana and show to the world too. What is wrong in his statement ?

The Ghanian media gets on a high when they see anything negative to report about Nigerians

Are there criminal nigerian elements in Ghana ? YES ...are there much more law abiding Nigerians in Ghana who are contributing to the development ? A big YES ...

How many positive things have Ghanian media reported about Nigerians living in Ghana? Almost nothing .

The only problem I have about the video is that it was meant to be a caucus talk ...I don't know why and how it made it's way to social media

You don't know what happen and you just talk as you read. The poster post what he likes. the man call on Nigeria media at Nigeria to start broadcasting about crime committed in Nigeria by Ghanaian’s living in Nigeria the way Ghana castigate Nigeria even when the offender is not Nigeria.
He made the comment based that Nigeria high profiles in Ghana has meets with Ghana authority for identification of the said criminals and kidnappers but the Ghana police fail to prove the suspect ID. They now beg to meet the suspect face to face yet the authority decline.
then even the Ambassador get angry that you don't want Nigerian in Ghana to see the people to believe that they are Nigerians yet the Ghana media was busy broadcasting all manners of evil comment sighting xenophobia against Nigeria and you think people will be silent.
Yes the professor is a hero because among all high profile Nigeria in Ghana he and Ambassador and Eze-Igbo are the only people that speak up, while the people that commit the kidnapping are from warri and one Calabar men.
But the Ghana media refuse to mention the 11 Ghanaian's that commit the crime with just only 4 non identify Nigeria and only one confirmed man from Calabar.
The way Ghana media take the issue if not for intervention of this man, xenophobia have already started in Kumasi against Nigeria. but because this man call on Nigerian media AIT, NTA and others to raise up and start broadcasting against Ghana that's reason xenophobia that have started in Kumasi die down.
There’s no time he call on Nigerian community in Ghana to raise up against Ghanaian's. The poster just post what suits him to condemn Nigerian more but forget that people lives’ in Ghana and watch the whole things life.
The media can release filted news only in Nigerian but not things that didn’t happen in Nigeria. I first posted the original how it happens yesterday but Nairaland never post in at front page.

Its sad when you say they're taught nothing. Does that mean the professor wasn't contributing anything towards the development of the education institutions in Ghana?
I guess the answer is no. The Nigerians schooling in Ghana are not wasting their money. The ones schooling in Nigeria are not wasting their money. We Africans should desist from our hatred for each other.

MrAnele:
The University of Education (UEW) has, with immediate effect, sacked its visiting Nigerian lecturer, Prof. Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara over comments he made in a video that has since gone viral.

Prof. Nwagbara was arrested on Tuesday but later granted bail for allegedly inciting the Nigerian community in Ghana to devise strategies that will destroy Ghana’s image internationally.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the University said the comments by the lecturer were inimical to the country’s educational sector, hence his dismissal.

“The University is highly disturbed by the huge embarrassment his unguarded statement has brought to the institution, the Ministry of Education, and indeed, Ghana as a whole. The University after subjecting Prof. Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara to the internal disciplinary process finds him culpable of gross misconduct and has, accordingly dismissed him.”

The University said, although Prof. Nwagbara has been on sabbatical leave from its Department of Applied Linguistics since October 2018, his comments after it set up an internal disciplinary process observed that the utterances were ‘ unsavoury, unethical and damning about the country, its history as well as its educational system. The University totally dissociates itself from the grossly irresponsible comments and condemns it in no uncertain terms.”

“The University apologises to Ghanaians for Prof. Nwagbara disparaging remarks about this country’s educational system and further indicates that the comment was full of factual inaccuracies”, portions of the statement added.

Read the full statement below:

PRESS RELEASE
PROFESSOR AUGUSTINE UZOMA NWAGBARA DISMISSED FROM UEW

1. The University of Education Winneba wishes to inform the general public that it has taken a very serious view of the video circulating on social media, involving Prof. Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara.

2. Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara, a Professor of English Language, has been on sabbatical at the Department of Applied Linguistics since October, 2018.

3. In the said video, Prof. Nwagbara makes several unsavoury, unethical and damning comments about our country, its history as well as its educational system. The University totally dissociates itself from the grossly irresponsible comments and condemns it in no uncertain terms.

4. The University is highly disturbed by the huge embarrassment his unguarded statement has brought to the institution, the Ministry of Education, and, indeed, Ghana as a whole.

5. The University, upon receipt of the video, immediately invoked its internal disciplinary process to fully examine his conduct relative to the content of the video.

7. The University wishes to indicate that it has in the past hosted several scholars on sabbatical leave from various countries, including Nigeria, and same have conducted themselves with high degree of decorum and professionalism during their stay. Prof. Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara’s behaviour is totally deviant and an aberration that runs contrary to those of his predecessors or the others currently at post.

8. The University after subjecting Prof. Augustine Uzoma Nwagbara to internal disciplinary process finds him culpable of gross misconduct and has, accordingly, dismissed him.
9. The University apologises to Ghanaians for Prof. Nwagbara’s disparaging remarks about this country’s educational system and further indicates that the comments were full of factual inaccuracies.

I am talking from first hand experience ...Ghanaian media gets high when anything negative about nigeria is available for reporting ...

I know we have work to do as Nigerians but radio stations throw caution to the wind and allow their disdain for nigeria to affect their job. They must balance the reporting ...the kidnapped Canadian girls ...we were initially made to believe that the culprits were just Nigerians until the truth surfaced.

It was wikileaks that made us know that in the aftermath of 911 when reports that bombings in Afghanistan were killing too many innocent people .. the US government instructed CNN to balance emotions by constantly refreshing people's memory by airing the details of the thousands of lives lost in 911 bombings...

The prof simply said that :

1 media is make-belief and nigeria is not playing the game well hence a call for change in strategy .

2.Ghanian education is expensive to Nigerians , that their educational standard is by 80% inferior to ours

3.that Nigerian media should find a way to report the positive side of Nigerians in Ghana

4. That a key measure of the standard of education is the quality of lecturers and that nigeria is miles ahead of Ghana in this area

Now tell me what is wrong in his statement ?

The VIDEO is better watched than INTERPRETED.
He has NIGERIA at heart.
He chose his WORDS.
The GHANAIAN UNIVERSITY has just lost an intelligent guru.
They saw him as a DOUBLE AGENT.
Please endeavor to watch it.

The man goofed and he is a shame to Nigerians, why try to spoil your fellow Africans image, even if it was done to make Nigeria superior to ghana it still doesn't make it right, Nigeria has a lot to learn from ghana and ghana has a lot to learn from Nigeria, we complement each other.

You have, I guess unconsciously, made Nigeria superior by writing it in initial capital letter but Ghana in small letters even though both are proper nouns. Lol. Well, one wonders what the professor has been professing if the purported unguarded statement was really unguarded

Social media is the new Achilles heel of man
social media is a powerful force. My worries, is the prof actually use his foolishness to stop his daily bread. As an international lecturer you are paid in dollars and the amount is far bigger than what he will be collecting in Nigeria assuming he works in Nigeria.
