Samuel Elias 25-year-old final year student of the Department of religion and Culture, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, took his own life on Monday June 17th inside his mother's house in Nsukka, Enugu state using popular insecticide Sniper.

According to the gist, Elias happened to be the first child of his mother, was depressed over his inability to graduate with his mates since 2016 as well as the attitude of his deceased father's family members. Elias was not able to graduate with his mates in 2016 following his inability to complete his project. This reportedly forced him into depression.

On Monday June 17th, his mother who is a staff of the University, came home to meet her son in a moody state. On close observation, she noticed his teeth had tightened up. She looked around and saw an empty container of Sniper. She immediately raised alarm and he was rushed to the Faith Foundation Hospital, Nsukka, from where he was referred to the Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka, where he eventually died.

His remains have been deposited in the morgue.

The state police command say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
