Am going for PhD chemical physics at ohio state university with full funding..work in a construction company but want to return to lecturing…….please help me scrutinise my transcript on these areas….Thanks Gurus

Vo: why are you not pursuing your phd degree in nigeria?
Me: after my masters degree I wanted to study in a country that would make me internationally recognised when I return to Nigeria to lecture and research.
Vo: why did you choose osu?
Me: osu houses the advanced materials liquid crystal institute which research focus on liquid crystals. Secondly, I was offered scholarship which include full tuition waiver, 70% health insurance and stipends for living expenses. Also , their research work is in line with my masters research work “measurement of solar intensity and wind speed”. In addition, osu phd program is interdisciplinary that involves a collective research work with people that have physics, chemistry, biology and engineering background.
Vo: what are your research interest?
Me: I will be working on properties of soft matter with specific emphasis on liquid crystals. We will be looking at how liquid crystal material will provide an optical response to an electrical input(displays), turn an optical input into electricity(photovoltaics) and provide an electrical or optical to both chemical and biological agents(sensors). Liquid crystals are a large class of materials that are capable of altering their optical properties when an electric field is applied.
Vo: why did you choose this course?
Me: I choose this course because chemical physics provides a diverse research areas in liquid crystal and its applications. For example, liquid crystal organic photovoltaic materials will improve the efficiency of solar energy conversion(i.e a source of alternative power supply for Nigeria). Also have research application in the production of cell phones, music player, LCD screen and computer screen.
Vo: what will you do after your studies?
Me: I will pick up a lecturing job in my alma mater. At present there is no research work on liquid crystals and this will help me bring about a new research area in the department. The present HOD who happens to be one of my referee advice I start applying to the university through dept six months to the end of my program. And over time I will be able to set up my research team to carry out research work for industries as a research consultant.
Vo: what will this degree do for you?
Me: I will be able to pick up a lecturing job in my alma mater. And I will be able to apply acquired knowledge to the discovery of new liquid crystal effects, new liquid crystal material and development of liquid crystal based devices and applications. Also, gain experience in presenting scientific data in research publications, articles, posters, and oral presentations.
Vo: why study in the US?
Me: a degree in the US is well recognised all over the world because of their academic standard and advancement in technology.
Vo: I will be approving your visa……..
Me: Thanks very much……

Why are you pursuing a Masters degree?
Same thing as why do you need this degree?

Your response is not good. Too generic.

I believe you need this degree to drive your career most importantly and you must talk about how the degree can drive your career.

I believe you're pursuing a PhD because you like to lecture, if not , I wonder what else you're trying to explain over there.

In place of where you're talking of OSU covering 70% of your bla bla replace it with OSU covers a major part of my my bla bla

If you answer why this course or what will this program do for you convincingly, you will not be asked the question again.

Go straight to the point and say what they want to hear on time.

In why US.
Don't forget to talk about the value of the degree back here

Your reason for going for an associate degree doesn't connect . Are you going for an associate degree because you applied to that specific school or you don't meet the general requirements to obtain a degree?
You actually applied to 4 schools so what exactly are you saying?

Why Southern University?
Take out that response. Makes no sense.
You applied to 4 schools and chose the first one because it gave you admission first? Think that out yourself.. How does it sound ? You have to carry out research on that school and why it is spectacular to you.

Before I proceed ...

How old are you?

First, thanks walspring for helping my friend pay his SEVIS fee.

My situation is kind of unique, and I'd appreciate any insight.

I was given an F1 VISA last spring for a masters in Finance at a 'not target' college. I have to admit, I wasn't aware of how competitive finance jobs were and how much focus was placed on target schools. I spent one semester in school, and decided to change school and course. It was too late for a transfer so I came back home.

Now, I have admission for a better school (UTDallas) for MS Accounting. Got the Dean's excellence scholarship and hoping to get the GA I applied for(which seems impossible at the moment).

My question is, do I need to apply for a new visa interview?

What is the procedure for a situation like mine?

Please share if you have any insight

Thanks

Your F1 Visa is only valid if you're in school.
Once you drop out, it goes out of status.

So you Must go for another interview.

I wonder what school you're referring to 'non-target school' . What's the name of the school?

Bro Calm down. Stop dishing out advice that you know nothing much about. Please stop misleading people. He/She came back home so he was never out of status. Let people that have deep knowledge about these things advice him/her properly.

To Fellow Nairalanders, please scrutinize people that you take advice from. Some people have not visited the embassy talkless of studying or applying for H1B. No experience whatsoever yet they come here to dish out advice to critical situations.

It's just like finishing a semester and returning home to see your people, does that mean you are out of status?

Very rude post. If you cannot give advice, don't quote. I asked a simple question and you took it to another dimension. Not everyone is a crook dude. How will I take it without his permission when I don't live him, the tax clearance is in his house and I don't live with him. I stay in Lagos, he is rivers and I haven't been to his house since 2017, that was when I stumbled on it. He is my very close uncle but likes to keep the details of his finances private. I am asking here to know if I should bother to ask him for it.

Your visa is valid for 2 years and if you defer before leaving the school and is not over a year you don’t need to apply for another visa again.

But contact US embassy to find out if the rules has change or not.

Lastly the nunber you sent to me via email, I thought it’s for you because I called it and the person say he didn’t know auditmonkey your user name.
