You can post it. If you need help .

That's also one of the reason why you cannot see an available date. It should open up soon enough.

I bet he doesn’t know that Monicker. He’s very new on this thread.

That lady started from dishing out advice like this... You can agree with me that this guy does not have any other business apart from this thread. He’s the first to respond to every question.

In as much as I don't like people giving out advice they are not 100% sure of, I dislike the act of condemning people's time and effort. The fact that he gave out an unverified advice doesn't warrant saying he doesn't have any other work apart from this thread and that he is the first to comment on every issue. He has contributed in his own way on this thread which I believe some have gained from. One may think the information one has is the most correct, another person can come out to counter it by giving another with better points with which the former commenter may learn from. We all have our flaws. We should learn to tolerate one another as brothers and sisters. We can disagree on some issues then agree to them later. We learn everyday. One love fam.

Hello Fam,

Lagos Consulate. Visa approved by the Old man....17/06....6:30am

Me: Good morning sir
Vo: No response
Vo: Pass your documents.
Me: I obliged
Vo: (Started typing ooo then stood up to the next window)...when did you finish high school?
Me: (I was like "high school"? ).....2010
Vo: After then?
Me: Went to the University for my bachelors
Vo: in what?
Me: Mathematics and Statistics
Vo: ok...you finished when?
Me: 2015
Vo: what have you been doing?
Me: Went for my compulsory national service.
Vo: oh that's for one year.
Me: Yes
Vo: after then
Me: I was retained and I left there after 13months. Then I joined bleep company as a data analyst, left there in Dec 2018. After then I join Bleep company where I currently work as a data analyst.
Vo: Analyst....data analyst
Me: Yes...yes
Vo: How many schools did you apply to?
Me: 5
Vo: How many selected you?
Me: 4 and still on the Waitlist in the last school.
Vo: what does your father do?
Me: He's late
Vo: what does your mother do?
Me: I told him
Vo: (Then he perused my i20)...who is sponsoring your trip?
Me: My aunt...my father's younger sister and I also got a graduate assistantship.

CGPA: 3.12/4

Great thanks to Libber, Kashogi, Soliph, Allylic, Omofola93, Yusuf, Matti and everyone. God bless you all.

Nuggets: Two things are very important; Confidence in self and Faith in God.
Don't feel discouraged because you don't have a ground breaking profile. This year, I saw people with lower class divisions ( < 3.0) and with GREs below 310, getting full fundings. Email profs, do your research well, reach out to people on this forum if something is not clear to you. Above all, if you believe in God, please pray ceaselessly. The sky will always be our starting point.

Thank you Nairaland!

Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you. I contacted him to see if he could recommend one or two skls that can fund my program(I applied this fall to several skls, but got admits without funding), surprisingly he requested 80k from me.

It was then I realized, though there are lots of people on this thread that are genuinely helping people--selflessly I must say-- but one or two people are here to make there presence known, so as to get there potential "customers". A sorts of business strategy.

The way you presented your graduate assistantship is
not catchy. Mention your assistantship on time. It calms the VO somehow.

How's your travel history?

A lot of people recently have been drilled on their stay in the US. So be very prepared to talk about your stay in the US.

Your career plan is somehow... I can't tell if the VO will be convinced with that. Focus on what your MSC is getting you before talking about PhD.
Work on that.

Nice response in 'Why this course'
Add a position you see yourself functioning in after your studies.

All the best.

There is nothing wrong in charging people for your time if you don’t see a need to render a service for free.

If you can do it for free, awesome. If you can’t, then charge for your time.

If it were to be easy you won’t ask him to help you in the first instance.

The purpose of this thread is to get things done yourself, so if at any point you are reaching out to people to help you hunt for schools then the purpose has been defeated.

80k for recommending only 2 schools
Lol
Lagosismyhome, Fairheart, imperioxx, Walspring and others have all been a major contributor to this thread for over 3years. They charge for no information. But someone whose first post on this thread was April 2019 is charging for the same information he got on this thread.

Let him look for his potential customers out of this thread.

Brown2Green helps a lot on this thread and through PM's. You can't deny the fact that he has been very helpful to an extent.

Does he request for money when openly giving advice in this thread? No.

Did he PM you to ask for money? No.

Is his advice worthwhile ? YES.

If at all what was said happened, it is a private matter and did not occur on this thread. Let's learn to be grateful. This is starting to look like beef and amebo. Afterall he did not force anyone to give him money.

If he put a price tag on his advice it's none of our business, especially when it never happened on this thread.
