It's confused people like Ben Bruce who are responsible for bringing the country down. This sort of convoluted thinking led to the scrapping of the all-important subject of history from the syllabus. You go to school, including tertiary, to acquire knowledge. Full stop. It doesn't really matter what type of knowledge you are equipped with, you must use your brain always to forge ahead. The only problem with nigerian youth is that many dont use their brains for productive endeavours. There's no shortcut to success, but many people in Nigeria think otherwise. That's why there's chaos everywhere - pen robbery, armed robbery, yahoo yahoo, gambling etc.

A subtle way to say that's why your children or your son in particular has to school abroad.

You are right though about the educational system but it's better you channel these information to your friends up there since you missed it when be you were in a pot to make a difference.

Very well said sir!

Obasanjo once said it and he was criticized by uninformed Nigerians! You can't keep churning out graduates of irrelevant courses that can't solve our problems.

Instead of producing many graduates of courses that can't find their bearing in the labour market, why not direct those resources into technical and vocational education Produce fewer graduates of the "jumpologies" strictly for researches in those fields.

The current system breeds envy and hatred by some graduates against others. Let's change please!

Africa will always use oils.... All those gimmick can't work here, we can't produce those electric cars meaning we should be importing them.... That's not innovative but buying foreign technology and keep boasting their revenue
When the whole world move away from manufacturing petrol powered cars, then i wonder which manufacturing company will still have the gumption to produce your cars, and even if some third party folks decide to go into production of parts, its gonna be so damn expensive. Recently, Volvo said they will soon stop manufacturing patrol powered cars. Other car companies are scrambling to get a foothold of the market.
Ben is thinking futuristic and i love that man. Most Nigerian leaders and strategists are not fluid enough. The business world is dynamic and changing fast. Businesses needs to be fluid enough to adjust and change quickly.
Read up on disruptive innovation. That is what is coming in the horizon and Bruce has seen it.
One of the things did RIM(Blackberry) and nokia was that they weren't fluid enough to notice the change and adapt to it and they suffered for it by losing their market share.Samsung and even infinix and tecno saw the direction and followed it.
I can go on to specifics but i don't have all that time.

Even if 100% of resources are given to our universities to finance STEMs, are we going to get satisfactory results on the turnout graduates with the present methodologies in use in Nigeria' universities? Our universities and polytechnics are only turning out potential unemployed youths every year indirectly; how many of the STEMs graduates we have presently have basic relevant skills from their respective universities and capabilities to create jobs for themselves? Our methods of recruiting lecturers into our universities and polytechnics should be reviewed. Lecturers with many years of industrial experiences with good track records in research, talent and passion to teach even the dullests along side academic achievement should be considered to teach in our universities. More than 70% of our university lecturers we have at moment are as a result of joblessness; many of them were jobless after graduation, then went back for their masters and PHDs for purposes of becomming lecturers. Many of them never worked in the industries for a single day; but they want to turn out graduates for the same industries they've never worked. They should also stop retaining their students with first class as assistant lecturers as most of them did not even undergo industrial training experiences (IT) not to talk of working experiences. Students, parents and government also have their own share of blame, but believe me, trainers are to be blamed more because they turning out incompetent graduates like themselves.

There are thousands of those STEM graduates that don't have jobs. Even the so called irrelevant courses give good employment in advance countries.

No University course is irrelevant. It is the country/government that makes them irrelevant.

Agriculture was the first and the most important human profession, and will continue to be so till thy kingdom come. Don't think twice about it. Go for it and you'd NEVER regret you did.

Funny enough twitter lord, the sector that employs graduates the most in Nigeria is the banking/financial industry which isnt even among the stem abi na root courses.

Is only the banking sector you would see graduates of various fields such as medicine, law, biologist, statistics, engineer, architecture to say the least.

So sir, find one seat and go and sit down.
lol, what these medicine, law, biologist and co doings in the banking sectors? Nigeria is a joke honestly.

Where are the industries to absorb the so- called STEM graduates? Team building , empathy and creativity is what employers crave for. The western world is gradually realising that STEM is not the end all be all. Education goes beyond cognitive development, a person with poor people skills, is a glorified robot. Ben Bruce should just shut up.
