Thank you....

The location is Ketu-Alapere, Elebiju side.

You think they could get a court order to sell the property? I'd be happy if this is possible.

This is Nigeria, everything is possible.
At least there is a house, except if the scammers don't own the house.

That reminds me, there is an association of real estate consultant around that Area. I was opportune to meet one baba at Ogudu.

We all need to be conscious of genuine person going forward in our deals.

Sorry ehhnn, I empathize with you.

Kaiiiiii But why? What kind of wickedness could make one scam over 200 families, knowing fully well that they struggled so much to get that money and may not have any other option! Wickedness at it's very peak!!!!
Welcome to Nigeria, every harmless person you see on the street is most likely capable of such wickedness if the opportunity comes up. Everybody wants to get rich over night.

Not getting our money back isn't something I want to be told... Oh goodness....i seriously pray we do and also get justice to avoid cases like this again in the future. This is sad.... Not even the police can be trusted, I see why we have many criminals walking freely around and spending people's hard earned money lavishly.
Hard truth, follow up though, I really wish you get your heart's desire.

Woooooow God please help us oooo....i can't even imagine this! Seriously, and the case is still being dragged? What about the house? I was hoping they will seal up the house and put it up for sale, so we could get our money back!

The case is still in court. The last hearing date was June 5th, Salah day. It did not hold. That was after it was fixed on a previous public holiday in April, I think Easter or so. It did not hold. Before that April date, it was fixed on a court free day around February or so. It didn't hold. This is how him and the judge keep fixing the hearing on public holidays. The next date now is September. I have forgotten the particular date. Imagine that. They want us to give up, and their plan is working cos many has given up. But we have decided to take the case out of that court in Yaba, to the high court in Ikeja.

Initially, we instituted a civil case, which will only recover our money and the man might go free. Then we wanted our money back. This was the advice of some lawyers we contacted. Later on, we decided to take the case to Ikeja, and change it to a criminal case. According to lawyers also, this may not recover our money, but if the man is convicted, he would go to jail. At this point, we don't care much about the money but we want the man to be jailed.

About the house, we also thought that it would be sealed, sold and the money realized would be used to refund us. But, this is Nigeria. nothing happened. people are still living there till now.

This happened last year July. It's getting to one year now. I even created a thread for it here.

From his facebook account which he still operates, we discovered that he is building another house in Ikorodu, probably with the money he scammed from us. I just pity people that will be paying him upfront. Also, he is not alone. They are up to 5 to 10 men in the business. He has changed his facebook name to Alhaji Sonibare. The guy is a serial Scammer.

Nigeria is a very funny country. Scammers work with the law enforcement agencies.

My sister, this is not to discourage you, but plan ahead. Don't put all your hopes there. Better things are ahead.

IT TURNED OUT TO BE FRAUD!!!!!!

Saying I'm devastated is an understatement!!!!

You got an agent's number, called him requesting for an apartment.. You meet, he takes you to a nice affordable house....you like the house, he asked you to pay on time before someone else takes it up, you did and he said he won't give you the key yet until the completion of the house, because they are still working on it. He said, the keys would be given to you by a lawyer and the lawyer will give you another receipt in exchange for the one given to you by the agent and developer. So you are here waiting till that date given to you for collection after making full payment.

Has anything like this ever happened and turns out to be genuine or are they fraudsters?

They claimed all the houses have been taken, but another number was used to call the agent and he still mentioned the area of this particular house that they claim the apartments are all taken?

If they are fraudsters, what advise do you suggest in finding out their genuineness and what actions to be taken to recover the money before they flee.

shocked

k

We wanted to, but we already contacted PPC and Ministry of justice so they asked us not to contact EFCC. You can try EFCC.

I just checked the Whatsapp group we created then. The news about this current scam at Ketu was posted there, and the pictures of some of the scanners was also posted. Some of the victims of our own scam are confirming that it is the same group of guys. Some of them said they paid into the account of that Mr Adewale Prince. All of them including that Alhaji Garba are working together. You remember when I told you they were building another house in Ikorodu, I think it's Ketu. Those guys are professional scammers. They are up to 10.

I suggest you guys leave police, use EFCC or an authority that they cannot get to. Because if you ask me, I will say all the police stations in that area has been sabotaged.

Yes, and many saw him but this is just another tricky plan and we almost fell for it. He knows going to the police would mean taking the case to court which could take forever like the previous people he duped in the past as people would get tired, frustrated and move on with their lives! so we ain't buying the police thing, reason we want to file a petition fast to EFCC.

If You have this much InTel on this People, don't you know how to Lure them into the Open and take care of things.

Don't know You or if you're still at the Youthful stage BUT this is One of the numerous things I hate about Youths of Our-Days - they're too Docile, busy Worshiping same Waste Products who enslaved them.

If you know them this well and also a Victim, why not Lure them out, deal with them enough before handing them over to the Law.

Giving Up and/ or Leaving things to Faith means such ill doings continues.

You might have Heard no One is Above the Law - well that's True UNTIL it's Not True.

As Long as they don't keep Mute and Continue Making enough Noise even after the Fraudsters have been apprehended, there would easily be no room for Funny tricks.

problem is most people would just Leave everything to the Authorities to continue.

Moreover Catching One of them doesn't necessarily mean you easily get your money OR get it at all.

Can see more people have Trust & Faith in EFCC than they do with the Police, well the Truth is they are all same.
The Police force has both Corrupt and Honest Officials. It's same with the EFCC and every other Body.

Funny enough, the Military has got the worst form of Corruption BUT since they don't Interface often with the Public and aren't closer to the People, Most think they are better.

By the way, EFCC was formed out of the Police force.

You Guys should make enough Noise and never leave them alone till you're satisfied.

Also be weary of Lawyers who would want to Cash in cheaply.

They easily could even use Lawyers (because they know You Guys would easily Listen to a Lawyer) parading as being on your sides to Turn things around.

To best of ma knowledge, this issue has got no business with Military or Police. The ICPC and EFCC are the Ones who should be handling this issue.

EFCC has been known to often Loose cases with PoliThiefCians (especially those with Deep pockets) BUT wins cases against Those with Shallow pockets (e.g Yahoo Boys, Company managers, Petty Frauds, etc).

If this Una fraudsters get sense, na to spend a Percentage of the Loot to Lawyer up and wet the ground enough it's slippery to continue. Let's hope they never succeed.

Bro, you don't understand this. First, I am very much in my youthful age.

These guys work with the police and courts. He was the one that submitted himself to the police, with claims that his life is under threat. The day we discovered we were scammed, Some guys wanted to raze the building. Police came and ordered us out of there. Many of us has been arrested on several cases for being violent about a case still in court. A lot of efforts has been made. I can't say much here.

I just pity the current occupants of those flats because I heard that they are constantly being robbed. Some of us believe that the current occupants know about the scam, because they packed into the house in the night. So, maybe they believe if they can't get to the Alhaji, they can get to the occupants.

The matter Don tire me sef.... EFCC gave us 1month before our petition can be approved, little by little this case is dying slowly, and we are all starting to look else where to get another money for accommodation. It's very sad this happened, I could have escaped it but God knows best. This has really affected so many things I can't discuss here.
Re: My Experience With A Fraudulent Property Agent by bassdow: 4:03pm On Jul 14, 2019
I wouldn't be surprised if You Guys are becoming Silent over this issue.

It's lack of or little Noise that gives Enforcement Officials opportunity to push things where they shouldn't be.

If Only a Couple of people can turn Silent Investigators, catch them , deal with them while collecting Bullet Proof, Unquestionable Evidence.

It's most with such that even those in Power protecting them can't do anything for Fear of Compromising their Position(s).

I sincerely understand this WasteProducts have a Lot of people (Police, Lawyers, Attorneys, etc) protecting them.

BUT if you all let Go, then they would still remain in Business.

Can't talk much here BUT hope to never be in Una shoes.

MrMcJay Good morning, pls i also had a very similar experience, infant the house is completed, just to paint and fix the doors. I paid him 60% of the money in a bid to secure the place according to him since 7th December 2019. He was claiming the landlord will be back from the states to complete the house that i should wait. Till today he keeps telling me stories. I have asked for a refund he claimed he has done the transfer to my account but i know its a lie coat i didn't see any money. What do I do pls
MrMcJay:

Request for your key immediately. If they can't give you your key, let them refund your money IMMEDIATELY.

Every key has more than 1 copy. They can give 3 copies and hold 1 for those working on the property. If they can't give you the key and can't refund your money, pls update us and mention me on the thread.

I know what those agents are doing. Collect your key or money immediately.

Tell him you give him 24 hours to refund your money in full, failing which you would involve the Police.

Report him to the police. Tell them he defrauded you and threatened your your life if you report to the Police.

I made a part payment to a property agent for an apartment. By the next day. I asked for a refund because of security concerns I had about the place. The so called agent told me I should wait till they got a new tenant for the place. After waiting for a week.. I went back to the house and met with the landlord who told me no money was given to him. He called his agent to confirm and to which is agent replied in the negative(His agent was introduced to me by mine)
I then called my agent who told me they had spent part of the money. That he would refund that day

To cut the story short we are still on the issue. The man keeps telling lies upon lies. I was able to get part of the money yesterday (#50, 000 from the initial #110, 000 I sent to him ) with more lies rather than promises he will pay up

This is my very first experience with property agents and I must say it's been a terrible one

Here are the details of the agent. It might be useful to someone

08035619579, 08169172905
Otunba Akinlade and Sons Property

Address
Patinum Property Nig Ltd.
Tollgate Bustop

Update
The agents finally paid 45000 after much lies and intervention of other people
Saying they will pay only 5000 and keep 10000
