what super eagles need now is two strikers in any formation whatsoever. else IGHALO the apple of Rohr eyes will continue to get caged by any tactical coaches.

Philosopher1979:
We need kelechi nwakali in that team. He is a good attacking midfielder. Players like lukman Haruna and rabiu ibrahim should have been invited for the friendlies to see if they are still good. The team lacks attacking midfielders and creative players. The problem is the players we need are not playing for top european clubs and we make this mistake of thinking that once a player is not in leicester he is not good. We even have an attacking midfielder in our local league (i have forgotten his name). The creative side of our game needs to be worked and this fixation with European football needs to end.

I also suggest that we need to play with two attacking midfielders and not one. I mean kelechi nwakali can compliment Iwobi in midfield so as to increase our creativity. Our Journalists need to celebrate creative players and not just wingers and goalscorers. The team is not technically balanced. Also, there is a strange dependence we have on Mike Obi which is outdated and based on his performance in 2005. This is dragging back our football. Having the best striker in the world is useless or limiting if you do not have creative midfielders. Players like kevin de bruyne and lucas modric are needed in this team and NOT players like Gabriel Jesus. You dont get good tires when the engine of your car is not working.

Football is about technical depth and balance and not star players. We have lacked creative players since Okocha and this is psychological. We often REFUSE to invite creative players into our team because of "Mikel Obi mentality". This loss is a blessing in disguise. Rohr should have learnt. When the team played with Iwobi as an attacking midfielder for a year, we played well.

We are wasting Kelechi Nwakali right now because he does not have a good club. This is funny. WE NEEd CREATIVITY IN OUR MIdFIELd.
at least for now, iwobi and maybe chukwueze should be encouraged. At lease, they are the most creative players we have. Mikel is a defensive midfielder/deep laying playmaker and NOT A PLAYMAKER. We need to get over this Mikel mentality. If not, he should be dropped. Egyt has won the nations cup with home based players. There is an urgent need to search for, encourage and groom creative players for our national teams. If not even Ronaldo will not help this team. Just look at Juventus in the champions league with Ronaldo.

Kelechi Nwakali should get a decent club this summer then we will reconsider him..U can't say he will blow in the SE just because of his u-17 performance and(I suspect) that Atletico game... He couldn't even nail down a starting shirt at Porto B.

As for Rabiu Ibrahim and Lukman Haruna .u must be joking...

Aigbogun still qualified Nigeria to U20 world cup.

I learnt his team placed 2nd in the NPFL and h was crucial part of Enyimba's success this season.

The problem I see with local coaches is selection.

Rohr Provides Fresh Injury Update On Collins, Responds To Question On Potential Game vs Ghana
Published: July 01, 2019
Speaking to reporters at Sunday's post-match press conference, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr revealed that
SC Paderborn 07 fullback Jamilu Collins will be available for selection when they play their next game at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ola Aina was deployed as a left-back in all the group matches only because Collins had been on the sidelines after suffering a training ground injury on June 21.
''I am still confident because we have everybody now fit only Shehu perhaps. We have recovered Collins, our left-back with a left foot,'' said Rohr.
''We will be able to have Ndidi in good fitness after 45 minutes of rest, Iwobi is very fit so, one more match today for Ighalo, ninety minutes and Musa also, we'll have more rhythm in the offensive department.
''Now we are waiting for our opponent, we don't know yet. We are preparing very well for the next match, I am still confident because I have a team who can play much better than they did today.''
The Super Eagles could face Ghana in the round of 16 and Rohr was asked if his team can get the job done against their West African rivals.
The former Bayern Munich defender said : ''We can meet a good team, even if you are first you can meet a very good team. You can meet a team like South Africa.
''We have to win the next game, we have to qualify to the next round, I am confident. We don't know our next opponents, we analyze our mistakes today and then analyze our future opponents.''

we guys should take note of this

If Rohr has any sense,he will move Collins to left back and Aina to right back..

I appreciate what Awazeim has done at RB so far but it's time we stop this habit of using players in unfamiliar positions... That was how rohr overused Shehu at RB until we got tired of him...

I think it's time Musa retires from the national team he doesn't have the technical ability to break down defences

And when he's not afforded space to run he doesn't contribute much

Balogun committed a “school boy error”, per Chris Green that saw Nigeria trailing 1-0 inside the opening 13 minutes of the group B fixture against AFCON debutants, Madagascar on Sunday.

That error, perhaps depleted the puff of the Super Eagles and boosted the confidence of the 108th ranked team in the world to go for the kill.

It was a matter of punching above their weight, but the underdogs stood tall and put another one past Ezenwa to run away with a very comfortable 2-0 victory and the bragging rights as group B winners.
However, whilst fans await some deeper explanation for that “humiliating” defeat from the Head Coach, Captain or any one else in the team, Balogun has offered his side to the fiasco at the Alexandria Stadium.
The 31 year-old is moving on from that mistake and is leaving behind anyone still stuck on stupid.

“Bad days happen we had a bad day we tried it wasn’t enough but we still qualified and that’s what we should focus on and get ready for the next game,” he told brila.net.

“I made one mistake that led to a goal; played one miscued pass to the goalkeeper apart from that I think I defended everything I needed to defend and I know people will only focus on that mistake but that’s not what I’m going to do.

“I didn’t make that mistake on purpose it definitely doesn’t feel good. It was just a bad game for the whole team. It is football and these things happen and we’re all human beings; I’m not a robot.
I can’t guarantee that mistakes won’t happen, so I will never say that. But of course if you had a mistake like that then you don’t want to do it again, but you can’t make any promises on that one.”

People will hate to hear this but it is true.

Sounds like a good idea. However, remember a Kalu Uche who played against Madagascar on Saturday? He played the Madagascar game as a test of his fitness level after returning from injury. At least, that was Rohr's admission in the post-match conference. Many are saying he wasn't fully fit and that's why his performance was below par. As long as Collins is really match-fit, it wouldn't be a bad idea using him in Awaziem's stead. But how do you guarantee that he's actually ready without playing any friendly game? Using him will be a gamble. So the onus is on Rohr. I'll let him make the unenviable decision, and take the blame or praise for it. Thank goodness, I'm not coach!! grin

The call for Rohrs sack is premature. What the NFF should do is get him a sound tactical adviser to assist. Like Kalila was to Siasia. I watched the game again this morning. When the game started, the Madagascans were jittery and showed us a lot of respect and I think their game plan was to play for a draw. That's why we have to score early whenever we play so called minnows.

That's why I blame Balogun, seriously those guys were in fear until they scored the goal

Next time read and comprehend before rushing to make comments here.

Besides, if Ajagun and Kayode deserves to be called into national team provided they perform in their respective clubs, what stops me or any reasonable Nigerian from clamouring for their inclusions to the national team?

Are those called more Nigerian than them?

Mister, only Iwobi plays in a better UEFA ranking club than Kayode. Let that sticks to your mind.
