This would be an interesting comparison. I favor the FX to come out top in raw power and drive thrill after driving a friends own from Lagos to Benin, and the Pilot to win in practicality and fuel economy.

FX is a driver's car. More luxurious. Pilot is a truck.

That said, the FX has no business off-road. So if bad terrain is a factor, the Pilot is the only option.

If owner is a petrol head and has a fat heavy right leg, he would definitely enjoy the FX with the VQ engine. It has a better luxurious interior, better steering feel, lovely exhaust growl that tempts you to hit the throttle harder, good road grip with moderate body roll, firm suspension, better sound system, and a proper transmission unlike the CVT found on the Murano. The only down side is the fuel economy.
The pilot is a truck as you rightly said. Drives like a truck, has truck like body roll with poor grip compared to the FX, has better ground clearance and cabin space, fuel efficient engine, sensitive transmission and AWD suspension system, and good for family haulage especially the 3rd roll seat.

Guys good evening and hope y'all well, happy new month by the way.

Pls, a wholistic comparison between infinity FX 35 2004 and Honda pilot 2007.

My reason for this is the fx35 in recent times have been incredibly cheap and almost same as the pilot......both toks.

Pls, respond.

Shalom!
Fx35 is a CUV I would say basically an elevated car with bigger interior like a fullsized luxurious sedan, don't be fooled by it's concave ameoboid shape it's got room for passengers both front and back. The VQ35DE has 280hp with all that weight, the FX is quick off its feet. The suspension are soft so off-road,bad roads you did feel it in the cabin. The dash screen has got warnings well illuminated and also acts as an OBD scanner. Experiences minor electrical glitches but you did be fine as long as you use only 100ah battery. The FX is way ahead of it's time.

The Honda pilot Touring EX-L with Nav is the closest thing to the FX, funny enough the J35 in the pilot is a little more fuel efficient than the FX in city and highway. The 3.5L of your year has 244hp yeah it isn't as fast as the FX grin the pilot is a solid off-road capable vehicle, the FWD varariant though could be a slouch.

Maintenance- I will give it to the pilot parts are cheaper and don't fail you also don't need a technician with PhD degree to fix it

Fuel economy- Depends on where you are coming from though the pilot has better MPG but 1L difference to me does cut it this is a tie.

Reliability- Pilot, less techy, straight forward build no hanky panky.

Resale value- The FX has an upper hand, it's getting rear on road could be a classic in few years time.

Verdict- The FX though a Nissan and with Nigerian mentality about Nissan's I did say is the best choice if severe off-road isn't needed and area of driving it is posh not ajangbadi, okokomaiko, ajegunle where other insane road users can easily bash or steal it's parts (yeah the body parts are expensive) the vq Engine is cheap and readily available.

The pilot is not a bad vehicle, I would pick it to blend in and enjoy top notch reliability

the engine is the common engine found in 10+ vehicles of Nissan Maxima, altima, G35, Murano, Pathfinder etc them plenty.

The expensive parts am talking about is body parts door panels, headlamp and tail lights, bumper, grill etc. The complete headlamp for both sides tokunbo used to be around 120k like 5years ago and vandals do steal it just like they steal Corolla brainbox

280hp for the fx35, it comes in RWD or AWD the gear is solid though and shouldn't be that expensive, should be same gear in Nissan 350z, G35, M35.

Both are pretty close in comparison the Honda though has a better interior finish than the Camry. Also Camry is known as robber magnet though seems the trend has died down.

The accord comes with alloy wheels as standard while Camry offers alloy as optional.

power, reliability, fuel economy are pretty close. Be weary of the AC compressor of the Camry it fails and pick 10 to 11 Camry with the 2.5L, 07-09 had a 2.4L which isn't bad but should be avoided if you can.

Unless you're getting a Hemi, there are much better cars in that price bracket. Only Charger I'd touch would be the 2015+. Those things are beautiful.

it shares part with Chrysler 300C and Dodge Magnum, though the 300C is more than and charger is more common than Magnum.

Parts may be scarce and when available may be tagged high in price. I don't know much about the charger though other than it is very big, I mean it really showcases it's Nomenclature (muscle car).

the 2.7L or 3.5L engine is ok, the 2.7L is under powered for a V6 but the engine should be available as it's been used by some funny Dodge cars. The 3.5 too though more recent.

The 5,7L HEMI would really put a Dodge to the charger if fuel consumption isn't of worry V8s are very well built only negligence on owner/driver part can cause failure.

I doubt if you would get the 6.1L engines those are for hard core enthusiasts and they were made in limited number safe to say it may be out of your reach

I have been in both though a base model of the RX, I don't think anybody who can dole out 5m for a car would have issues when it comes to part replacement.

I would certainly without no doubt pick the ML350 because I like the turning radius, it's Mick sporty appearance, the position of the gear knob and besides it's a Benz so luxury is unquestionable.

Nice pinpoints.
can you atleast give a rating 1-5 regarding:
1. design/build
2. fuel consumption
3. interior
4. entertainment equipment

1. Both are pretty in good condition and well taken care by the owner, the Benz black interior seats blends perfectly with the tan interior panels.

2. Lexus is better, has more hp, faster off the line but Benz handles better and has more top speed.

3. Interior I give it to the Benz, more leg room, sporty and comfortable seats, good head room well distinct dash with well placed control buttons.

4. The Benz belongs to my OGA he only plays radio for news or shuts it down completely. The Lexus sound system reminds me of my bro home theater.

It has always been hard in the luxurious segment between Infiniti and Lexus from time immemorial

FX vs RX, QX56 vs LX, M vs GS, G vs ES etc, I know the for a fact the Infiniti always stay tops.

The JX35 now QX60 is a luxurious car the Highlander holds no chance against in the luxury segment.

Now the engine challenge
3.5L V6 2GRFE (268hp but Toyota says it's 280hp I am skeptical about that) and 2.7L i4 (187hp) vs VQ35DE 3.5L V6 (265hp)

The JX engine is the award winning VQ which is not questionable started around 2001 and very popular in several road Worthy Nissan vehicles Nissan stopped it in 2004 for a 4.0L engine but had to go back to it in recent models because of it's reliability and capability in tweaking.

The Highlander inline 4cylinder is popular and reliable too and the 2GRFE is also a good engine.

Interior Wise No competition here, the JX wins with alot of luxurious standard equipment from Navigation to part assist, lane assist, memory seat, HID Xenon, heated front seats, power moon roof too plenty to mention.

The JX is a very scarse road vehicle I have only come across one in 3years it shares part with same year Pathfinder infact it is just a very luxurious Pathfinder to a degree.

I did say from the challenge the JX is a better vehicle than the Highlander due to its careful body design, reliable and cheaper engine option, good interior finish and a host of safety and luxurious feature in-cooperated. The Highlander isn't bad if you intend to maintain the status quo of common vehicle and easy access to parts in Nigeria.
Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by Maxiyke: 10:37am On Jul 06, 2019
Thank you so much, you are the Master.
So, Infiniti JX35 it is then.

The RX is definitely more popular. That also means parts are cheaper and more accessible, since it also shares parts with the RX330, I believe.

You didn't specify the year model of the RX, is it RX300, RX330, RX350, RX400h or RX450h?

I'd take an RX over an ML any day any time. More reliable and less prone to break down. My RX is 5.7years old on its factory paint, factory everything other than Oil, tyre and brake pad and recently, steering rack leak which I have fixed.

I'm thinking of upgrading my car and I'm down to the following two options:

2008-2011 Honda Accord
2003- 2008 Volvo XC90

I used the accord for a few weeks when my car was bad and liked it, I also like the XC90.

I'd like to know,
1. from experience what's the best variant of either of the above vehicles?
2. What is the cost for replacing engine and transmission for them (usually the biggest single expense)
3. What are common issues?

I maintain cars well (used my last 10 years straight and you won't know) and I rate comfort and drive experience above fuel consumption.
