I was two.

One fateful day, a group of robbers stormed the house we were living. I remember my mum sitted on the floor, backing the front door telling the robbers we had nothing for them to rob with her arms wrapped around me.

The robbers left eventually, later got to discover the landlord had a gun and scared them off...

Don't ever in your e-life come for me and expect me to play mature. Mind games don't work on me. I will reply you if I wish.
I am that petty.

That ant thingy messed my mind up though. Till date I always unconsciously examine my ogbono soup for signs of ants before eating it.

I still recall when I was a toddler, my lawn tennis ball rolled out of our Surulere house (face me I face you Room) into our neighbour's, and she seized it.
I also recalled a fellow toddler called Aanu who's a neighbour's daughter. She was my closest friend tho I can't recall her face. I still recall these memories.

These was in 80's.

I still remember when I was taken to nursery school in my dad's Peugeot 404 at the time.like 24 years ago I think.
In my uniform and blue bag.
I did not cry but I wasn't happy why dad had to leave me with those strange faces.
The first thing I ever did in school was pick dead leaves that had fallen off trees.
You know the whole drill in nursery school na.there was a song we use to sing while picking;
Something like;
Pick,pick,pick...pick am.
every little thing... pick am.
Every mololo...
pick am,every jarkatu...
pick am.
All bend down whether we go finish am today.. cheesy
That was in libreville grin
Also I remember 1998 when mom left for France 98 world cup.
I was wearing a yellow shirt, not well buttoned plus some shorts, light green I think.
We were all in the living room, bags everywhere being packed and all..
I thought she wasn't the one travelling but my nanny at the time(died of HIV)
THEN all of a sudden a blue Nissan patrol showed up at the door and I realised it was mom that was leaving since the driver of that truck always came home to pick mom.
I vex ehn!because I knew mom leaving meant we were now under the care of my bully big brother that slaps at every opportunity grin
I cry sotey not cos mom was leaving but for the tyranny of the incoming government.
My Childhood was fun for real cry reason i am so nostalgic till date. cheesy

The song sounds like something slaves would be chanting while working on the field. With their slave masters waiting to whip their bare backs if they don't pick enough...

I find that funny too, forgive me. cheesy

It was a social insurance school owned by the government so things like that are common in those places.
you know, before the advent of private schools that massively separated the privileged from the less privileged(capitalism angry )
Life was good at the time.everyone was equal.
I still remember the name of the headmistress sef and her face.
I remember Josepha too,a classmate.my crush at the time
I think we liked each other then.
The dad use to come drop them off in a white 4 runner at the time,I think it was the 95 model and I think the year too was 95 so you can imagine .
So it was like planned act because my dad and her dad always came to drop us off the same time.
My dad had a 404 which I hated so whenever we got there with her dad at the same time,I will not go down of that ugly French car till they leave because I was ashamed of it.
I go hide for floor, wait till they varnish before I go down grin
Las las my dad got a Carina 2 I think it was the 87 model and dude was spreading infront posing for Josepha to see me in my new whip.
She use to wear white long long socks and was very clean cheesy
I was clean too in the mornings but afternoon na different matter.lol

At that point in time there was not much our parents could do. They knew what was going on. This was 80, 81. Not many options esp for blacks. They were both working. It was basically a case of keep looking until you get a nice person/ family your kids can stay with through the day. There was one other very nice lady, but she smoked. And my sis was saying she would start smoking too. Funny times.

Chai. Quite funny though.
I am just imagining how stubborn you were and how they would drag you both into the room. I know it is not supposed to be funny, but you survived, yea? grin

I vaguely remember the useless sitters we stayed with in Birmingham in the UK when our folks went to work. It was a vicious cycle. They would beat us ( me and my sis) and lock us in a room. Our folks would come in the evening and we would make a ruckus and mess the place up. Same cycle next day. Eventually we got a very nice woman we called aunty gail.l think my folks still send her letters. Maybe I should send her an email.

I remember when the older arsehole kids in the neighborhood locked me in a garage.

I remember my first crush when I was 8 years; Bola omo general with the yellow skin and curly hair.

My earliest memories, unsurprisingly, are not clear at all but I can remember little me on my second birthday. My dad threw a huge party, food and drinks were everywhere, a lot of people came and I got a lot of presents from people. I remember a clear moment where I was playing with a toy(a little train model) on the rug that evening. I can remember anything earlier than that.

I remembered standing besides my mom casket and one woman with a camera was trying to snap me. I was 4 and didn't cry......I remember bending a bit to stare at her face while people were urging me look up for the photo. I remembered a drop of tear........just one drop on her face.

Sometimes, its seems like a dream but its was actually in real life.......I can only weed the grass surrounding her grave........been over 20 years I've done that now.

I remember how my mom beat the hell out of me when I broke a glass cup....I was 2 years then......our next compound neighbor had to come safe me from her and call grandma to come take me away.

I remember some earlier events, when I was in primary 1 & 2..... I remember the driver who drops me at home after school with the blue 504
