Prior to opening the post, I sensed it would be a school in the East... There is so much untapped technological resources in that region which can benefit the entire nation in her bid to truly and fully diversify the economy away from dependence on a dying resource.

False. Teenagers are building nuclear reactors and artificial intelligence devices abroad and you are talking about an electric car with a range of only 30km
Our expectations are damn too low in this part of the world.
Even though I commend the university for attempts, the electric vehicle is substandard. It looks like something a road side mechanic with a bit of knowledge and YouTube access can string together. This contraption will never pass quality and safety tests.
If this is the best our universities can produce, when universities abroad are developing cutting edge technologies, then we have a mighty long way to go.
