If at all I didn't benefit anything from transcribing on Qaworld (which would be a lie), at the very least, my data plan no longer runs out and I have recovered the cost of buying my smartphone in January this year + covered most of my data plan costs. If you're able to get a grip of this stuff even if you're employed, you can at least cover your cost of monthly data even on a 4G ISP like a Spectranet, Ntel etc. They have also made the platform a lot easier to use than when I started using it. I remember lamenting to one of the SCCs that we should have the option to briefly edit a failed transcript and she returned an emphatic NO, but here we're today with that option on Qaworld and I have had no need for that recently because I upped my game. Remember that to make money, learning is your baby step. Remain blessed, guys. 17 Likes |

I would also like to SPECIALLY acknowledge my boss Hausadreturn, every time my rating crashed or I struggled with the rating notes, he took his time to help me back up and the result was immediately reflected on improved ratings. TBH, my ratings crashed below 3.3 from 4. plus and I ran back to him and now I'm back up to 4.3 average for the last 10 calls. So, special thanks also to every other contributor on the thread who has been resourceful. RESPECT. I also learned a lot and put old knowledge to work by working on transcripts that require Googling to decipher words, phrases and brands. 4 Likes |

Working at QA world is tantamount to slaving. The pay per hour is low, and they're exploting people from third world countries who won't mind getting cheated, and would do anything for a penny. How can I fixate my eyes on the light emanating from a phone's screen for 2hours, and then, get paid something less than $1.5. I feel sick right now. I'll look for something real that's worth my time and pay to do. NB: You get paid nothing less than the US minimum wage when working as a transcriptionist in a real company. That's, nothing below $10 for an hour call. Modified: I know some would say, you get paid for example, $10 for an hour call. It would take nothing less than 8hours for a professional to transcribe an hour call. The pay therefore, would be $80. It's a different thing at QA world. I'm not desperate enough to settle for less. |

JustSomeDude:Freelance transcription jobs pay by the audio minutes no matter how well they pay. No one will throw a $100 at you easily with such a pool. It's not supposed to a full time job, it's side gig unless you're Ralph L or Pau C. Ultimately, people work labourous jobs for 1,500 naira as daily pay, they buy bread, coke etc and take bike. I'm reclined on my couch pressing buttons on my phone and sometimes earn the equivalent of 1k in a few hours, less than 100MB burnt and not making myself too available for people who think I should chat all day. It's not NNPC, guy, pass the test on Rev, get accepted and then you can return triumphantly Do you know that people begged for a 60 minute job for 1500 on this platform I swear I was shocked. Ultimately, there's always someone who finds value in it. You can try Fiverr, if you feel you're worth the buck, prove yourself there. I'm laying down and 3 hours while simultaneously chatting I earn 2-3 USD that's about 1k at 300 to exchangers ot sub directly from recharge dot com with $6 giving me almost 1700 worth of airtime. JustSomeDude: If you get a better online job with guaranteed pay of more than 60k a month without needing an investment, please be kind to let us know. We are open to better pay. We know the pay is low but once one is acquainted with QA's client companies, the job is easy. Let's say you are able to transcribe just two 15 audio minute calls per day for 30 days, which shouldn't take more than 8hrs daily, you'll be netting about 65k monthly which is still way more than the pay of a lot of peeps I know who work 9-5 jobs. Don't get me wrong, the pay is lower than the industry standard, but the issue is that only a few of these transcription company's welcome transcribers from this side of the world. If you have tried Rev and co., you'll know what I'm talking about. 5 Likes |
