Good evening guys.
My Fiancé is 17 years older than me and he has three kids. We have met and he just returned back to America and now he wants to file a K1 visa for me but while I was going through some posts on visajourney to know more about this visa, I got to know our age gap is a red flag, him having 3 kids is another red gap and him being divorced is a red flag and now we have 3 red flags. He’s not black too and who knows if that is another red flag! I am confused and I don’t know what to do, has anyone here been approved with red flags like this too?

Stay in Nigeria and start a family with someone around your age group. You want to flee to America and settle with a man who's technically old enough to be your father and already has 3 kids. Like someone else said, would you marry such a person in Nigeria if they weren't stinking rich? This I must go abroad mentality by force must be stopped. Nobody wants to think or be creative anymore, they all want to run overseas and let Nigeria burn.

Please Nairalanders , I thank each and everyone who has made positive contribution to this forum...Please I have a question...I am not in Nigeria but in one of the Southern Africa country...I have a partner in the State who will be visiting me over here which we intend having our wedding so she can file for me but I realize that would be difficult to do here since I do not a residence permit as I have put in my application for resident permit but hasn’t been out since 4months now...Now I am worried if I should only have my US wife visit me here then we take pics and go nice places then when she goes back to the State and file K1 but am worried since I don’t have my permit now and I have over stayed my visa already... Will it make sense to have my appointment/interview be done in Nigeria but am scared if I won’t have a problem if the CO check my passport during interview and see I over stayed in another country because I don’t know how long getting this permit would still take and am also worried if I leave here I might not be able to make it back... Also does it matter if my partner doesn’t have good credit and has filed for bankruptcy before though she works and earn $15 per hour....Thank you all and hope to get a reply .

You want to marry someone who has filed bankruptcy, has bad credit and only makes $15/hr simply because you want to elope to the white man's land? Someone with bad credit and a history of bankruptcy shows they lack discipline and have very poor judgement yet you want to enter this trap just so you can leave south Africa. How will she prove that she has enough money to take care of you and herself based on that hourly wage?

Remain in South Africa, your country is even better than most african countries. Marry there, raise your kids to make the country great. Use Nelson Mandela's story as a motivator.

As I earlier said, USCIS did not specify either to send original copies or not which simply means it is not mandatory.

However, you can use your discretion on whichever way you find suitable for you.

If you are not a legal resident in South Africa, you will need to process and have your interview in the US embassy in Nigeria. Your overstay in another country will not bother your K1 visa, just check if you need the police record from another country (countries). Bankruptcy could be not bad (maybe she needs to start clean with no debts and no credit) but she would need to find a cosponsor, $15 per hour is very common and not so bad in US, many people live on that, it's not too much though. Does she have children or do you have children? Your American fiancee needs to do a good paperwork, you will be approved, ask your fiancee about jobs in her area, monthly expenses and taxes and plan well what work can you do in US.

@donasvenss, what 123JohnF posted is 100% correct and applies to both K1 (Fiance) Visa and CR1 (Spousal) Visa. You can decide to get wedded in South Africa (or anywhere else) and then go for your CR1 Visa interview in Nigeria OR you wait till you are done with the K1 Visa interview in Nigeria and then get married in US. The choice is for you guys to make. The pros and cons of both K1 and CR1 visa have been discussed extensively on this thread. You may wish to look it up.

There is nothing wrong with your case at all. Your fiancé can file for you as long as you can prove existing relationship between you guys and he has the financial capability to support you. Whether he is 17yrs older or has three kids or white/black will not stop you from getting the visa.

You should be happy that he has finalized his divorce and you have actually met which is a plus for you. Don’t listen to any kill joy who would love to be in your shoes at the moment and are just being jealous. Work on knowing your fiancé and his kids as well as anything that concerns his life very well before your interview and you’d be absolutely fine. All the best

You have to fill the Ds160 online and then call Ustraveldocs and tell them you want your Ds160 number updated on your appointment letter you can look up there number online.
ademo1:

When I booked for interview appointment, there was no place they asked for DS 160 confirmation number. I got worried until someone told me I was inline. When I got this your message, it raised my BP. I hope I have not missed something? It didn't request for DS 160 confirmation number when I chose K1 but required when I chose other ones like B1 B2 and Co.

Can someone please enlighten me because my interview appointment letter doesn't contain DS160 confirmation number. My believe is that I will print the summary page of DS160 with my appointment letter for the interview

my dear. give no one a deaf ear who wants to spoil your mood or mind on your dream man. I have even seen women who are 13, 21 ysars older than to Nigerian guys that I know.. and they are doing well him being 17 older don't mean anything. So go ahead and file for it. Age difference don't really matter. provided that you and your fiance are diffenitely in a bona-fide relationship. so good luck to every step you wish to take. Thanks

I think K3 is no longer possible. It was in the past that K3 was an option due to the very lengthy time it used to take to process spousal (CR1/IR1) visa...it used to take up to 1 - 2 years then. But now, CR1/IR1 approval is relatively faster thus its no longer possible to get K3 approval.

Below is a post by a visa officer concerning K3 visa in 2017:
VisaOfficer:

Good afternoon,

My understanding is that we do not process K3 visas at the consulate at this time.

As previously noted, nonimmigrant visas and immigrant visas are adjudicated with different considerations in mind so prior B1/B2 refusals may not necessarily have a negative impact on the adjudication. Immigrant visas are adjudicated based on the claimed relationship between the petitioner and the beneficiary. As for the length of time it takes for a petition to be filed, approved, and scheduled for an interview, it depends on a number of factors. As such, it is impossible to state with specificity how long the different processes would take.

Regards,
VO

Here is also her post in 2015. She's was saying that most of the time, your IR1/CR1 application will be approved before the K3 so that means the money you paid for the i129F form will go to waste:
VisaOfficer:

Usually -- usually -- the IR1 or CR1 cases are ready to be interviewed before a K3 can even be scheduled. I can't give you legal advice, but you should keep in mind that if the IR1/CR1 is ready at the same time as the K3, NVC will just schedule the IR1/CR1 and not refund your K3 fees.

The whole process from filing to interview usually takes around six to eight months.

Good luck!

No you don't need yellow fever card. Its mostly travels to african and asian countries that require yellow fever card.

However in case you still want to get it, you'll have to read this:

The Federal airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has released guidelines to get the yellow fever card in 5 days. The yellow fever card is one of the important document that every traveler must have in his/her procession before traveling. These are the easy steps.

Get the New e-yellow card in 5 simple steps

STEP 1: Visit www.yellowcard.health.gov.ng or www.yellowcardnigeria.com

STEP 2: Click on yellow Card Application.

STEP 3: Fill in your personal information and click on submit button.

STEP 4: Click on the Payment button, generate your Remita Retrieval Receipt (RRR) code and pay the sum of N2,000 online (or go to the bank).

STEP 5: Take the payment receipt along with your international passport to any Port Health Services Office to get vaccinated and obtain the yellow card.

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers 1 year of age and older coming from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.

The vaccination requirement is imposed by this country for protection against yellow fever since the principal mosquito vector Aedes aegypti is present in its territory.

A yellow fever certificate is valid 10 days after vaccination.

Existing and new yellow fever vaccination certificates are now valid for life. The World Health Organization announced that as of 11 July 2016, countries can no longer require travellers to show proof of re-vaccination or a booster dose as a condition of entry. Travellers should note that this new regulation may not be honoured by all border authorities during the transition phase
The Port Health Services Office in Lagos is adjacent the Airport Toll Gate.

It's part of the evidence you will present when you go for your interview at the U.S. Embassy in Lagos. It's an evidence that shows your on-going relationship.
