Hello house.
Please a brief but important question.
In the DS 160 form I filled when previously denied in June, there was a section for previous employment and I chose no.

Now, for the new one, I want to choose yes and add my NYSC employment. Please is it advisable?

At the interview, I know there's a high probability I mention NYSC because I actually served my country o. Pls, kindly advice me. Thanks a lot.
@shawarma @faitheart @timetiwin @everybody. Thanks

Delay is not denial and it is certainly not the end of the world. If you want to kill yourself, that's totally fine. Living is a choice we make every day despite everything life throws at us.
People fall, people rise, people laugh, people cry. Life is not a fairy tale, there are no genies granting our wishes or fairy godmothers waving wands to please us.
I got my visa at the first attempt and so what? My friends got theirs at 2nd, 3rd and 6th, and so what? We all succeeded eventually and that's all that matters. We won! The time frame is irrelevant, the triumph is everything.
Ultimately, I bind and cast every negative vibe, I purify and sanctify this thread with as much positivity as the universe holds.
May the force be with us!

2017. I went to serve 2016. Finished school ending of 2015.
Don't you think it will look as if I lied in the previous application?

Nope. when asked, say you didn't regard it earlier as valid employment since it's a compulsory program. you sought for advice and was adviced to include it.

I’ve picked up my passport, and my transcript is as follows:
School: Clark university
Course: Environmental science (MSc)
Funding: 40% tuition scholarship
Deficit: $35k
It was a long interview as I had to wait severally during the interview

Me: Good morning
VO: good morning pass your passport and I-20 please

VO: how did you find this school (whilst typing)
Me: it all started with a simple google search really, i (she cuts in)

VO: how many other schools did you apply to
Me: I applied to 4 and named them (brown university, northeastern university, university of Maryland, Bowie state university)

VO: how many admits?
Me: all except brown university

Vo: so why this one? Why Clark university?
Me: well apart from the scholarship I was offered I was particularly interested in methods and skills courses I’d be taking

VO: name one?
Me: well I’d be taking the advanced rastar geographic information systems course where I’d be taught using the idrisi software under the terrset series developed by Clark’s lab in clarkuniversity in 1987, it was recently remodeled in 2015 and I’d be taught how to use this software to develop.. (vo cuts in again )

VO: please hold on (gets on the phone and a superior appears and they turn off the microphone so I can’t really hear what they are saying and looking at the screen)
Turns back after a few minutes, with the superior still standing and both looking at me

Does your father have a valid B1 visa? (Looking at her screen)

Me: yes

VO: what is his name?
Me: tells

VO: what is his first name?
Me: tells all his names that I know

VO: WHAT IS HIS FIRST NAME!!(still looking at her screen)
Me: tells

VO: where does he work?
Me: tells

Vo: okay, do you have any relative in the U.S?
Me: yes, my uncle

Vo: where does he live?
Me: DC

Vo: Washington DC?
Me: yeah

VO: how did he become a citizen? When did he come to America? How long has he been in the states?
Me: I don’t know, he’s been there a long time before I was born

Vo: okay.. (Nods her head) excuse me please ( stands up and turns off the mic again and goes to the back and reappears a few seconds later)

Vo: what was your GRE score?
Me: verbal: 152, quant:150, and AWA: 4.0

Vo: that’s 302
Me: yes

All this while she was just looking at her screen and/or typing

Vo: are you married?
Me:no

VO: any kids?
Me: none

Vo: earlier on, you said you applied to university of Maryland, they have a stronger programme than Clark’s? So why not university of Maryland?

Me: No, not necessarily, also I will be doing a collaborative research at Clark university with the university of Maryland on 3 sites in Massachusetts, Virginia, and georgia state.

Vo: looks at me with one raised, eye brow through her glasses and looks back at her system and continues to type

VO: you said you had a scholarship?
Me: yes

Vo: so who will be paying the remaining deficit of $35k
Me: my father ( tells his name) he has worked for —-company for —- years (at this point she was already nodding her head Cos she was familiar with the name already)

Vo: okay I will be approving your visa
Collect your passport in 3 days

Me: thanks

it's not compulsory for travelling but some schools require it.

Thank you for the clarification.

My school mailed 2 forms along with my I-20 namely Immunization History and Health History forms. The immunization history form which requires the signature of a physician/nurse has been completed already at a Government Hospital.

The compulsory immunization in the form are Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) as well as Meningitis for students that will be living in the University's Housing Units. Other recommended immunizations are DPT, Hesitation A&B Series, Polio and Chicken pox.

The Yellow Fever vaccination was not mentioned in the form. Hence, my question about the need for it.

if you have done others, then no need to bother about the yellow card own. it's not compulsory.

If you can get an updated one fine, but if otherwise you can still go with the one you have. as long as the balance on the account is way more than the deficit on your i20.

all the best in your interview

Please, tipping a police officer at the gate after an interview..

Does it warrant a denial after an initial approval at the embassy?
