Congratulations! However, I am willing to bet you didn't write your IELTS in Nigeria. If you had written it here, you would have had 997.56 just so they can get another £170 from you. Correct me if I'm wrong and you actually wrote it in Nigeria.

That is not totally true. I wrote in Nigeria on the 29th of June with MOD and I passed as a first time writer. Lrws was 9,8.5,7,7.5. I met some people on this journey that also passed on the first attempt here in Nigeria, both mod and bc.
Just prepare well, focus on your aim, write your best and have 100% concentration and pray. I practiced for more than three months with at least one listening practice every single day. I didn't really write many essays at all, maybe like 3 but I studied the structure of wasseynewest's writing.

my former boss wrote 3 times in the UK, a guy i met at MOD test center in PH later went to USA to write. Still 6.5 in writing sad
Although I wrote in Nigeria and passed once (had 8 in writing), I cannot but admit that I think there's something untoward about how Nigerians are graded. My friend, whom I know as an outstanding writer and a fellow lawyer just got 6.5 in writing, which is very surprising. I know this dude well and he reported that the Writing went very well for him. Meanwhile he wrote 2 years ago with minimal preparation and had 7.5 in writing. As a lawyer, working in an A List lawfirm, writing is an essential part of his daily routine, so getting 6.5 is surprising.

Hello,

Has anyone here evaluated '' Certificate in IT" from Bcs with CES?

Hello house, i have a very few questions... i have been a silent follower of this thread. I am currently on F1 visa in the US for my Masters Degree. My questions is

1. Is it possible for me to apply for EE from US on F1 visa?

2. I have all the requirements, such as work experience, POF etc except IELTS... now my question is: a must to have the 8777 score? If you have anything less than the score, does that mean you don't qualify for EE?

3. Reference Letter from my previous work: I have been working in my dad's coy for more than 5years before i travelled. Can that count as work experience for me... Just curious as i have made research that one can't use a self employed as work experience.... pls i need someone to clarify this to me.

Thanks you all as i await your input. Cheers!!!

1. You can apply from anywhere. In your case, you will need a Police certificate from America and Nigeria
2. You need a high score in IELTS to gain the maximum points in order to receive an ITA, so ideally you should aim for that score. Depending on when you finish your Masters, you can evaluate it and if you get 8,7,7,7 in your IELTS, you will get an ITA
3. Work experience is work experience, so long as you have been paid and have worked continuously for one year. You can check page 1 to understand it better. Working for your Dad won't count against you. The CIC website states self-employment is acceptable. Not everyone can work for others

While I understand ur perspective perfectly, working in a big law firm is not a precursor to passing IELTS. What I advice people especially lawyers taking d test is, unlearn your legal drafting and writing skills before stepping into d hall.
I have a friend who for task 1 was asked to write a letter to his neighbor, requesting him to address d issue of overgrown branches. As soon as he told me that I knew there would be a problem for a lawyer who hasn't unlearnt the lawyer writing method. True to my thinking he started talking alot about abatement of nuisance. Goes without saying the result the turn out well.

I actually wrote mine once too.
Practiced for only one week. Less than the period BrokenVessels spent preping.
I got LRWS 9, 9, 7.5, 7.5

So I can tell you it's possible in Nigeria. smiley smiley

Congratulations on passing the exams. It seems you have a good command of English before writing the test thus making it easier to ace it once.

What of those that don't really have high command of English, what do you advice?
the Jay videos I watched on YouTube actually helped. I also used the writing template recommended by him.

Lol it is actually acknowledge of receipt.
I asked the same question and someone bashed me and directed me to the page of abbreviations and the meanings. At first, I was embarrassed but went to the page and studied all the abbreviations and their meanings.
Now i can boast of knowing most of Canada PR terminologies even though I don't know all.
Sometimes when people direct us to page 1, it is to empower us and sharpener our reading skills.

Yeah. Thank you.I will do same.

There is nothing like good command o. It's all about continuous practise everyday. Even if it is 30 mins. Just keep practising. The resources he used are sufficient. You can also use cambridge materials. Just Google cambridge listening on youtube and on Google to get the entire sections. Anyone can pass, the difference is the work put in and prayer done but we have to work for GOD to see something to bless. Shalom

Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate. I have made it a point of duty to study and practice everyday. I just pray that God crowns my efforts.

MY PR JOURNEY PART 2- IELTS (a.k.a The humbler of men & women)

Hello my beautiful e-fam,

All Praise and Glory be to God who makes all things possible in his own due time. Its IELTS breakthrough... Am so happy I've crossed this hurdle. The journey has been a tough one. I 've decided to share my timeline to encourage someone out there.

TIMELINE:

1st: (Nov 10 2018)
LRSW- 7.5,7,7.5,7

2nd: (Dec 15 2018)
LRSW- 7.5,6.5,6.5,7

3rd: (Jan 19 2019)
LRSW- 8.5,6.5,7,7

4th: (Feb 9 2019)
LRSW- 8,6,7,6.5

5th: (April 27, 2019)
LRSW- 7.5,8,8,7.5

6th: (May 23, 2019)
LRSW- 7,8,7,7,5,7

7th: (July 6th, 2019)
LRSW- 8,7,7,7.5

All MOD IDP (LAGOS Mainland)

No REMARK

LESSONS LEARNT:

1) Prayer is the key; however faith without works is dead. I mean hard work ooo. if you can fast sef....pls do. God factor in this waka cannot be overruled.

2)To the 'otondos' (first timers) please do not rush or put yourself under undue pressure to sit for the test. Take your time until you are fully ready and prepared. Never underestimate any module of the test. I underestimated reading thinking shebi its just reading without practicing and so reading also decided to pay me back in my own coin.

3) Practice! Practice!! Practice!!!. The importance of practice in ALL modules cannot be over emphasized. Practice like your life depended on it.

4) Never be over confident. Its easy to think because one is a native speaker, the test would be really easy. That's not true at all so don't relax. Its not the regular Nija contextual English (lols dts wat hubby calls it). I can boldly tell you that IELTS humbled me.

5) Dont give up especially when you dont get your desired result in the first attempt..its normal to feel discouraged and downhearted, but giving up is not an option. Never feel that you are an 'olodo'. There is no fail or pass in the test. Like hubby will always tell me 'we die here', lols but thank God we did not die here.

6) Be prepared financially...its a real investment.

7) You can ACE IELTS...its is not impossible.

ACCOLADES:

I'll like to say a big THANK YOU to my tutors because with God's help, they made this possible. Thank you for making out time to render free, selfless service on how to ace IELTS. May God bless you and grant you all your heart desires.

@wasseynewest: IELTS writing (task 1 & 2) boss....Yes he is the Lord of IELTS structure.

To my Le boo...he is the Chairman of Silent Readers Association..lols. @immunno...thank you dear for believing so much in me...you are the real MVP.

Made very good friends from this beautiful e-fam too....thanks guyss. God bless you for your support and encouragement. We will all celebrate lass lass.

For practice I used ieltsonlinetest.com, Cambridge books from YouTube. Watched some speaking tests on YouTube as well.
Used Jay, Liz.

P.s: Here's the "5 P's" i have learnt to adopt as my guide
Proper
Preparation
Prevents
Poor
Performance

If you have your ECA and ielts result ready enter the pool now as spouse accompanying with your crs score to make up for the tie breaking rule.
Nobody can tell IRCC can perform wonders anytime!

Once your spouse ielts result is out update your profile immediately then wait till her ECA is out.

You might be lucky to get ITA self depending on her ielts result before ECA.

I hope it helps.

God bless you.

barby008:

Since her evaluation has started, let the result come out before entering the pool.
In the main time, she should take the Ielts, get the result, simulate your CRS again. If ts above 460,you stand a chance and can enter the pool. If ts below 460,just wait for her ECA to be ready also.

Thanks alot. I appreciate.

Congratulations! First attempt and you aced it!

Brokenvessels:

I wrote IELTS, my first attempt on the 6th of July and I passed.

LRSW 997.57

I practiced with ieltsonlinetests.com for the reading and listening section, I think I did like three practice tests a week for 2 months; then i subscribed to E2 IELTS on youtube and watched all Jay and Alex's video on reading and listening as well as writing and speaking. I only practiced writing and speaking for one week using Alex and Jay's video. I registered with British Council online and was given access to the Road to IELTS page, I only did the free practice tests and watched the tutorials on the page. I just stuck to the BC materials, and did not want to use too many sources and clearly it worked for me.

My CRS is currently at 453. I am tempted to go for a remark for my writing as I feel I can get up to 7.5, this will boost my CRS to 456. However, my document evaluation with PEBC is ongoing and might take up to 8 weeks by which time the CRS cut-off might have decreased for me to get ITA at 453.

Really thankful I passed at first attempt, would have broken my heart if I had to dash British Council £170 again.
