Hey guys!

I recently noticed I had a bad habit of being mute in the presence of someone new.

What I mean is I find it difficult to strike up a conversation or make small talk or whatever. Although I’m a naturally shy person, I want to put myself out there more.

It has led me to find myself in so many awkward situations like keeping entirely quiet all through a car ride or when I’m in someone’s office or when I’m generally with someone I’m still getting to know.

Now “someone I’m still getting to know” is even far fetched because there’s a guy I’ve known for about 4 years now and everytime we see, I find it difficult to make conversation.

Is there is a system I can use to start and keep a convo?

You can’t give what you don’t have. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. But if you would like to start conversation with anyone, you can start by saying something related to what you know what he/she loves talking about. As for texting, the replies should determine what you’d say. If the replies aren’t monosyllabic & you can see that they’re into it as much as you are, just talk about random stuffs to keep it going.
