Ighalo was given plenty opportunities before he started scoring regularly.

Time to give opportunities to another person.

He has already retired for another person

Abraham has Chelsea's no 9 jersey for the new season.

I remember when someone said he only good for the championship as a derogatory comment.

There was hell fire and brimstone thrown on anybody who said he was better than KC, Osimhen, Ighalo but l noticed they have gone quite very quite, NOW.

Tega has a platform to deliver and it's no going to be easy. Chelsea is very impatient club yoi are given little time and you must DELIVER.

Admittedly giving him the number 9 jersey is big statement of how they value and rate him currently.

Why wont they say he is only good at the championship?

I am sure if osimhen is in Tega shoes you will say the same thing about him

Now let me educate you

Tega played at bristol in the championship and scored 23 goals in 41 games, then the following season he went to swansea and could only manage 5 goals in 31 epl games, is that not poor? thou he did his best because thats his first full season in the epl, but when tega returned to the same championship with aston villa he scored a massive 25 goals in 37 games, so na one season on one season off, so please dont blame anyone who said he is only good in the championship as you will also say so if its osimhen

Now tega should have the chance at chelsea now to impress, i beleive lampard will play him, if he doesnt impress he should kiss good bye to big club and go and restart from those small teams to proove him self again

Forget number 9, chelsea beleive on immediate impact, no be chelsea wey defender don wear number 9 before, i wish tega the best

Rohr turns to Okoye to solve Super Eagles goalkeeper crisis

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is looking at the direction of Fortuna Düsseldorf II safe hands Maduka Okoye to solve the goalkeeper problem in the national team.

Super Eagles are yet to get a consistent replacement since Carl Ikeme's football career ended due to illness in June 2017.

Francis Uzoho was packaged to the 2018 FIFA World Cup where Nigeria crashed out in the group stage, but he has since fallen the pecking order in his career.

At the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Rohr used Daniel Akpeyi as first choice, while aslo giving a chance to Uzoho and Ikechukwu Ezenwa, but the problem in the goalkeeper department is alway obvious.

Rohr is now looking for a lasting solution, and Maduka seems to be attracting his attention.

“My aim is to improve all the departments in the team. The most important ones are the goalkeeper and then the goal scorer, they are already two challenges now, we’ve been working on it for a long time now,” Rohr told Sports Extra.

“We knew the problem in the goalkeeping department before the AFCON, and that it could be a big problem at the AFCON.So, the bronze medal is really an achievement and we could have even gotten to the final. When you go to the history of winners of AFCON, you must be good in this position, you must be very good and I think we can be.

“So, for the goalkeeper position, we have Maduka Okoye, who plays for Dusseldorf; he will be a good one (keeper), I think.”

19-year-old Okoye has a dual citizenship and is eligible to play for either Germany or Nigeria.

He was invited to the U-23 national side for an Olympics qualifier earlier in the year but club commitments held him back.

Coming to the Championship as a teenager and ending up as one of the top goal scorers in the championship is not an easy thing to do.

Then going to the EPL with a relegation fighting Swansea who played survival football and how many different managers

But to then go back to the Championship older and wiser and then at 21 (true age) be the top goal scorer is really outstanding consistent continous top class performance.

No wonder Chelsea have given him the number 9 jersey.

Hudson- Odoi is a teenager and to think he still just 18 and was playing in the EPL at 17 is simply supercalifragilisticexpialidocious LOL grin grin grin

Although to pay him £150k a week is simply MADNESS but as they say " Who dem put sugar for him mouth, were no go lick"

That's why we need to pick the likes of Aribo, Onomah and Eze

Aribo for me is a battler and hard man in the midfield similar to Ndidi not the most skilful and technically gifted he reminds me of a certain Etuhu that played for Nigeria.

Onomah and Eze are technicial gifted players with Onomah the better of the two for now, who can play as AM. Also you have Ovie who can not be ignored excelled in Glasgow Rangers in a league that's not as good as the Championship by a considerable stretch.

The dark horse that is going to suprise all of you this season in my speculative opinion is Chuks Aneke now at Charlton.

Good move

However, I fear for his lack of experience against more formidable opposition. When I remember the blunders of Uzoho and Akpeyi, i am reminded of the fact that GKs playing in lower leagues may just be disasters waiting to happen.

But if we must stick to Maduka (again, not a bad move), I feel we must rid Alloy Agu of his Job and find a more capable GK trainer. Someone who can make diamonds out of rough gemstones. That person is certainly not Alloy Agu. The man is bereft of Ideas.

Chuks Aneke is not a bad Idea. And I am not for having too many Etebo's or Ndidi's in the team. History has shown us that it stifles creativity and ingenuity.

Rohr should keep in mind to scout more creative players and not destroyers. Any new destroyer invited must be adding something to the attack either in way of set-pieces or long shot accuracy. Not just bland tackles that could cost free-kicks against us in dangerous positions

All you have said, I agree with Sir

Because English leagues are not known for their patience with youngsters either in the Premier league or championship. Add to this the high intensity and physicality of both leagues and any teenager that still performs is worthy of effusive praise.

However, Tammy's mind is set on England and I wish him all the best

If we go by the post you quoted Chuks shouldn't be considered, he's not someone I'd call technically gifted (further reinforced by the cement kind of football they play in the leagues he's been in) , at least if that definition hasn't changed.

I'd rather he fills in as a striker, He'd excel there

RN we need a potent CM to sit in the middle with Ndidi/Etebo. Someone that can carry the ball/hold well with dribbling as secondary qualities. An AM,we need. How bad? not as bad as a decent CM

Yes, I'll go with a CM first and not really an AM.

Even a competent GK and GK coach is more critical than an AM at this moment
