How sure are you your panel was pleased with you, you don't have two minutes to think when fire is burning your work place fa
You rush like a tornado without thinking through your decisions?

Your analogy doesn't follow, in a case of fire, there are laid down approach to handling it.

Like I wrote earlier, I asked for feedback.

They told me the things I did right (not generic answers, they responded by attaching the criteria they were looking for and how I met them). Critical thinking was one of the things they said they were looking for.

They likewise, told me the things I didn't do right.

By the way my panel was pleased with me, but I'm smart enough to know that doesn't mean I already have the job because I don't know how pleased they were with the others (While I was In primary school I had a score of 96.16% and my position was 21st. Between 96.16% and 100%, there were 20 people. I hope you get my drift).

That's why I have been on my knees since the interview.

Also asked about clean development mechanisms. I was hearing it for the first time too.
I never wanted to stay mute or accept the fact that I was clueless, so I went straight to methods for pollution control, ways to remediate land pollutions n other forms of pollution as a result of oil spillage chipped in Bioremediation thinking that it will be important as a biochemist and other different ways of pollution control. I don't know whether the panel chairman really heard what I was saying because he was writing through out my interview session. He only pause for a while and ask if I am done, I was later asked 2 situational questions and 1 safety question which I answered more convincingly than the first question. They had interest in my fictitious but convincing story. Finally they told me if I had a question for them. I asked them how can they assess my interview performance. They all busted into laughter and the chairman for the first time had interest in what I was saying and said "okay I can say you are confident". I thanked them and left.

Same. The only thing she asked me was "did you sleep last night? Or were you thinking of NNPC"?
I know after I finished speaking, she commented that I’m speaking like I’m in church. I just smiled because I actually speak in church. I literally was busted in confidence from my Father lol. The King of Kings had me at ‘ you can have your sit’.

Waow!
This thread is really friendly and humbling today with all the experiences being shared.
Let me humbly share mine.
Starting from the advertisement: Someone sent me the advert to share on a forum where I belong as an admin. He mentioned that those who successfully apply should send their reference number through me so he can check for shortlist. He asked me to also apply now - days after. I told him I never opened the site as I wasn't aware the vacancies cover my level/age. He encouraged me to check them. I checked and saw few management level vacancies in my area of specialization but was going to ignore it for being an entry level management cadre. He encouraged me to just apply for it and ignore. In the process of checking them closely I found out the requirement of 18 years minimum experience. Waow! That's serious post for them. Well I applied.
Another battle began when they invited me to write an aptitude test. How? For a management level job? No serious multinational will do that, I thought. Again my guy and my spouse encouraged me to just go and write the test. May I say here that I can't remember the last time I wrote an aptitude test. When I was the age of majority of you guys I was writing aptitude tests for fun and confident to be in top 5% in any one of such tests. But these days I am more concerned on leadership styles that can motivate my teams/unit to be actively engaged to deliver superior performance, and definitely fat bonuses for ourselves.
Well, I went for the test and it wasn't funny being disarmed of my phone and watch, and all. But I appreciated that thoroughness by NNPC. Was the test cheap? I can't say. I can't say I smashed it or that I banged it. The questions on history was somehow;
American civil war was about what?
Oil was first discovered in Nigeria which year?
Mobil started operation in Nigeria what year?
Economic Recovery Plan was which year?
And several other funny history questions.
Then the quantitative questions that should be my fortress wasn't really straightforward. Some of the questions were solved and I was sure the best option that I chose was wrong. ETC
Again it came as a surprise not just that I was invited for an interview, but at the speed they collated the test results.
I could have complained that the interview wasn't scheduled for Lagos or via skype, teleconference, etc, but I gave them some kudos that they at least scheduled it on a Saturday.
Well, the interview proper didn't look like the normal interview that I am used to at the multinational where I work. I have sat severally as a chairman in such interviews and I know how we drill prospective employees with practical questions they can hardly pass by reading up theories. And we take a whole day to interview at most 6 candidates for a job.
I was shocked to be grouped to see the same panel that interviewed a prospective senior officer, a supervisor, and possibly a GT in my area of specialization. Is that how they intend to employ a management staff by not bringing in the direct supervisor (senior management staff) in that area?
So I wasn't surprised with the questions they asked me.
1. First they asked me a question about a process in my functional area but not my specialized area. I gave a vivid description of the process and pointed out to them which specialized unit handle it in my place of work and where I come in in the process.
2. They asked about a second question that bothers about JV and periodic reviews. I answered that pointing out what I do currently at my current place of work and what I will possibly do at NNPC.
3. The chairman asked a question on how I will handle my specialized task within a subsidiary of NNPC. That was answered.
4. A question on conflict resolution with my boss - answered.
5. Two questions on safety - give an example of when I was involved in safety concern in the office and my reaction. Second was on what I should see when entering a building to show the seriousness of the organisation with safety.
6. Back to the chairman, who heaved a huge sigh. Made a comment like from xx(Name of my company)xx to NNPC. What do you know about PIB. Well I told him I followed the discussion for a very long time and I even downloaded the proposed act. But I have been told the version I have may not be the latest and it's been changed to PIGB. He asked me to mention the things in my version, and I listed like 4 key things and he seemed satisfied and then asked me to tell him the full meaning of PIB/PIGB, which I humbly did.
They thanked me and signaled the end of the interview and asked if I had any question. I was surprised - no drilling, no sweating. No wahala, I just asked a simple question after commending them on the speed of the recruitment exercise and left. It equally came as a pleasant surprise that I quickly got a 20k credit alert from them. That may be nothing but it's a good gesture, having paid twice for the ticket I used for the journey.
So it's either they give me the job, and I will check the pay my guys said will be better than what I earn currently, the kind of official car they give, other benefits, etc, and then make a choice. Or the way the interview went so quickly they decide not to give me the job. In that case I won't have to worry to make a tough decision to leave my present job and prospects.
Overall, I have prayed and whichever outcome is certainly what God wants for me and the future will prove that.
God bless you all.

July 4th, panel 8. After they introduced themselves one after the other. They asked the following questions:
1.How can you convince someone to do what someone does not want to do?
2.Assume you want to make payment, what are the documents you will check before you make the payment?
3.What are the essence of those documents after l mentioned the documents.
4.According to IAS 36, What do you understand by asset impairment? After answering this,
5.What are the two internal and external factor each that cause asset impairment.
6.Explain 3 factors affecting the price of crude oil in the world market.
7.Then HSE man asked me that l should assume that l was in a room and my bulb got off and l want to replace it.What are the risks involve and how do l mitigate them.
8.Lastly, they give me chance to ask question. I firstly commended them for interview me in a friendly manner and commended the management of NNPC for remitting #1.6 trillion naira to FG coffer, at this point they all clapped for me at the same time and said don't ask question again and they started shout my name like footballer that made golden goal. What l discovered is that they made sure they asked questions about my three different areas of specializations: Economics, Energy finance and Accounting being chartered accountant.
At this point l pray Almighty Allah to count me among the chosen ones who will collect APL.
See you guys at tower especially Baba Jarus. I represent OAU Economics graduate.

No it doesn't.

I asked my panel for feedback (more like what I didn't do right in the interview)

They listed some of the things they were looking for.

One of them was your ability to take your time to think when a question seems to jar you. It's not about rushing to say rubbish.

So in my feedback, one of the panelist actually commended me for taking my time to think (the question took me about 2 minutes to come up with an answer).

So you don't need to be worried

You were allowed 2 mins to think... Strange!

My interview session didn't last for more than 20 minutes. I was asked 5 questions; the first was based on my experience whereby I was asked to give 3 sources of renewable energy, the second was safety question, the third was about the physical and technical factors that affect the success of a project, the fourth was to describe a time I faced difficulties and how I resolved it, while the last question was to describe how I made a quick decision. I also had the chance to ask them a question. Well, I don't even know whether I answered the questions well or not because my responses were short and straight forward. I am only banking on God's favour and grace.

Thanks for sharing. You are one of a kind.

Well, I went for the test and it wasn't funny being disarmed of my phone and watch, and all. But I appreciated that thoroughness by NNPC. Was the test cheap? I can't say. I can't say I smashed it or that I banged it. The questions on history was somehow;
