It is always good to be good.
I am very sure the lady has been so nice to the maid to the extent that the maid now sees the lady as a family rather than a boss.

This should be a lesson to all those bosses treating their house help like trash

What happened?

Stayed at a friend's house a while ago, they had a maid........

All my $'s disappeared........ I did not know who to accuse, but casually mentioned it to my friend........

She moved it out of the house, kept mute. Forgot about the incident, until she had a disagreement with her bf.......

The bf came to report her and the my money she stole and other items she has been moving on a regular.......

Long and short, $'s was long spent and never recovered.....

Lesson learnt..... Hotel's all the way........

GistTeller:

A house maid agent who specialized in assisting people to get maids with the motive of using them to abscond with money, jewelry and other valuables, has been arrested in Lagos.

Francis Okputu, 37, has been doing this since 2003. In May 2019, he planted one Joy Onoz and told her to steal from her boss. He also ordered her to help him get her boss’ picture.

The gold jewelry, he told Joy, would be replaced with copper and he would take the picture to a prophetess who would help him bewitch it and make the boss not to question any of the girl’s deed after stealing her things.

However, Joy quickly told her boss of the plans and they played along with his arrangement. The lady gave Joy some hard currencies, jewelry and her picture and told her to contact Francis.

The suspect, unknowingly, instructed Joy to meet him at Iyana-Ipaja to handover her loots to him and he was arrested. After his arrest, the decoy team of RRS visited some housemaid whom Francis had installed in different part of the State to question them.

Now, I have to speak on this one.

My grandma told me in the 50s and 60s Yorubas had confidence and trust in Calabar people than they did Ibos. This is not ethnic bashing, this is the truth.

Back then in the South Yoruba knew of only themselves, the Ishekiris, Binis and Isobos. They knew of Ijo as water people. We did not know any other group and classified everyone else as either omo Ibo or Kalaba.

We also knew back then that omo Ibo are the menial workers and low wage labourers in society. So jobs like porters (pushing wheel barrow, carrying load on head and ferrying goods) and anything requiring physical work in the field omo Ibo is one to do it. Their women work as maids and cleaners in the house. Kalaba women were hired as cooks and nannies because they were very good with caring and nursing.

From what Im told this was the practice with colonials. When omo Ibo arrived in Lagos he would be recruited into one of these positions reserved for their ethnic group.

Affluent Yorubas also used omoIbo as laborer in his house and yards. This was the practice in VI, Ikoyi, Apapa, Yaba.

As demand for laborer increased more Ibos poured in from East. Yorubas began noticing a trend. The Ibo gardners and yard laborer were offering their sisters for hire as cook and nannies for very low price and cutting the Kalaba girls out of market. Nobody knew it was an act.

My grandma said omo Ibo will plant a maid in your house for rwconnaisance to know what kind of valuables you have and where they were kept. Then one day when you come home you cant find your gardener, your nanny, your cook...they all have dissapeared. Along with them your valuables are also gone! Reports from Yaba, Apapa, Ikoyi were fitting same pattern. So Yoruba people kicked Ibos out of domestic service because they were not trustworthy with your valuables or children. This is how Yoruba trusted and till today have trust and confidence in a Calabar person.

If an indigene of Cross River or Akwa Ibom were to show up as a Presidential candidate you will see how Yoruba would rally behind him and support.

So Im not surprised at this new event and trend with omo Ibo planting house helps to use for reconn and rob people. Its their way, its their old practice reawakened.

The culprit's tribe is not mentioned and you already assumed he is Ibo. Meanwhile the surname doesn't appear Ibo to me.

However, we should all condemn crimes no matter who perpetrated it. We should also condemn comments that divide us further.

Peace to all.

By the way, let's assume your nonsense is true... aren't you worried how the freaking tables have turned. Who are the landlords now and who are the ones doing the menial jobs?
