psyqs:yeah. Real bad. If we want to make money. Let's set our minds on learning the ropes first. Her anger isn't even the most on punctuation but deliberately omitting content or even submitting without proofreading. For the best jobs it's best to work from a pc. Even after transcribing 10 minutes out of 30, I still release calls if it's going to be a poor job. 4 Likes |

thorrvik55:I saw it and wasn't happy about it. She reacted to the guy that made the comment, and that reaction shows it's probably been on her mind for quite a while. As Drawnobet will say, back-reading helps. Some people here haven't taken their time to read all the contents here, some people don't even open Slack to read up. What are we doing na! This stuff has been around since like February... Let's calm down and take our time. If it's not because of the opportunity to redo a failed job, and then nairaland, it'll take at least one month to be good in this stuff. Because nobody will even answer us on Slack. Abeg o. 1 Like |

drawnobet: The post gave insight about the rating issues. It seems some QA reviewers are behind bad ratings the transcribers get after hours of pushing in the earpiece into their eardrums while transcribing. They give 1 instead of 3 and give 5 instead of 3. las las, we go dey all right. |

Tenshades: Trust me, that's not it. From my experience, the reviewers probably try their best to give d best possible rating for each call. Like I've said before, they are only human and some may pardon u for the silly errors one might make while some might be strict... Believing that any call u are rated poorly is because the reviewer had an hidden agenda against u or it's his fault is just wrong. 1 Like |

drawnobet: Maybe they already have the IPs of the jobs coming from us. The name of the guy that even complained about the bad rating he got sounds like an Indian name but Arlen decided to smack down Africans in reply. She's just being a racist anyway. I noticed those QA SCCs reply with harsh words anytime people complain about the timestamp issues and the bad ratings for cool and easy calls. And she also said the bad rating was due to an error from one of their reviewers. The guy got 1 instead of 3. 1 Like |

Looks like it was a rating issue. Poor rating could be painful though regardless of the race of the transcriber. But it looks like there could have been other issues over time that warranted the comment from Arlen |
Re: Self Employment Opportunity: Transcribing For A Living In Nigeria Part 1 by Tenshades(m): 2:59pm On Jul 28, 2019 |
thorrvik55: I understand you bro. Even Arlen said it herself that errors may come from reviewers too. And that's what was revealed by Arlen after checking the CID of the guy who complained. I'm not just assuming here. I'm saying what's happening on QA Slack forum. |
Re: Self Employment Opportunity: Transcribing For A Living In Nigeria Part 1 by thorrvik55(m): 3:05pm On Jul 28, 2019 |
Tenshades: U are saying there is a conspiracy going on against Africans and the Scc's, arrlen and the reviewers are all part of it. They check our IP address so they can intentionally give us poor rating and they don't answer questions dat we African's ask on slack. And also they are also racist.. You do know the guy dat had the issue with his rating is not African, right? |

psyqs: Yeah. Sometimes, you wonder why you are given bad rating after working on a clear and short call not knowing that reviewers are also behind the curtain dancing "gbeku" during your transcription review. Even few minutes ago, I got penalized for not capitalizing "h" in home dot com as it was written clearly at the top left corner as usual (company's name). Those people no well. |

I just read through the conversation. I feel the Vedavathi guy has to work on his grammar and punctuation. His statements were laden with a lot of grammatical errors. It is certain this will reflect in his transcripts. I don't totally believe that the reviewers have anything against Africans. At least, many of us here flying the Nigeria flag are constantly getting 4 or 5 ratings. I feel many still do not understand what transcribing entails. Many just type out what they hear without taking cognizance of grammar and punctuation. I started out this way myself. I was removed twice from Qa. I had to read up on grammar, sentence structure and punctuation before going back to re-register. Since then, I've been getting good ratings. So, I will urge those who are not getting the best ratings due to grammar, sentence structure and punctuation to read up on them. Also, I feel the reviewers make mistakes as well, they are human after all. Whenever you feel you have a rating you are not satisfied with, politely ask for a review on slack. Concerning the esc workaround and missing time stamp, most times, the esc workaround do not work efficiently. I'm sure that is the main reason many people keep omitting vital words and sentences. Drawbet gave a way out on this thread (read through the thread to find out) which I quoted a few days ago. Also, avoid our people from UK circle and CL* if you know you don't have the strength for their crazy accents. Don't because of their pay run to pick them. It's better to keep earning shikini money from correct audios with low pay than to lose your stay on qa due to low rating from those audios. I want to use this medium to salute the two individuals that apologize on behalf of we Africans. If they are on this thread, tiri gbosa for you guys 6 Likes |

drawnobet:Actually, an African wasn't involved. It was someone else. Arlen was probably just triggered by the people that used the "100" emoji when an African made a comment. And with the look of things, it has been on her mind. So, she spilled everything out. Those apologising, you're wasting your time. Those guys no send anybody. Despite the fact that the points made sense, notice how no Filipino commented and liked the comments, also notice how people from East Africa avoided that discussion. Just do your work, help people to answer questions if there's a need, seek for clarification if there's a need and that's all. What are you guys doing by begging on behalf of Africans? Na only we waka come? 4 Likes |
