what do u expect in a country where u have a ps4 game console and there's no light to even enjoy it...people will definitely find solace in drugs na...especially with this 1 chance govt....where every1 just dey on a low and on their own
Re: Youths Finding Succour In Drugs: The Puzzle Continues by Nobody: 10:11am On Jul 30, 2019
Nothing puzzling about that.
Drugs=escapism.
When your life is nothing to write home about and there is no hope for the future..while the world around you is messed up,drugs become the perfect escape, albeit temporary.

Ten years time...nigeria may record the highest number of impotent men, kidney and liver related illnesses...due to drug abuse by some youths.
our entertainers are a big cause of this problem in multiple ways. First they keep promoting getting and staying high, that one is obvious. Then they promote unrealistic levels of wealth that these kids try to keep up with and when they can’t, they turn to drugs out of frustration and depression. Lastly they constantly promote sex and debauchery life style and many of these young kids take such dangerous drugs either as a sex enhancer or to even have the ‘mind’ to approach girls..I know this because when I was 16, me and my guys used to go get wasted on beer before stumbling into clubs just so we can have the liver to talk to the ladies. These kids of today have just taken it to a whole new level.

So long it's done in moderation
I consume drugs
As a matter of fact, I've been living on soft drugs in the past 2months trying to keep my sanity.

I still find it hard to imagine why people violate their system with harmful substances. Na so dem say marijuana is good for the body. One guy weh go smoke am, him memory don delete now, he does not even recognize his friends again. And some people na long throat dey cause their own.
Bro find out what drug substance that your man ingested. It's not marijuana. Maybe village people, but marijuana's effect on behavior is temporal. Make research you'll see.

The only people who can help in correcting this menace are the one promoting it the most.

#NigerianArtistes in music industry.

Ad every young dude wanna become Olamide or Wizkid, they believe getting high on drug is one of the protocols

seriously, no one is promoting drugs, no artist..even in USA where cocaina usage is very high, who do u say promotes drug usage in that region artists? movie stars? I don't think so...I just believe drugs can be controlled but u can't eliminate it..we don't even do drugs in Nigeria compared to most countries...Canada, Netherlands, USA, Jamaica, Mexico, Colombia, have more drug kingpins than naija...do we even have any drug kingpin in Nigeria..lol.

Address the root cause. Engage them meaningfully. Pay their parents their entitlements to reduce unnecessary transferred aggression. Let credible leaders run the show.
Tramadol will be used for its original purpose afterwards.

All Nigerian politicians are certified drug kingpins.
How do they get money to engage in the world's most expensive political campaigns individually?

Highly coded.

Especially in the north.

I paused for a minute, trying so hard to fathom why a young boy or girl could possibly delight in inventively turning medicinal substances to ones for leisure. "Don't they feel vomitous and dread drugs like some people do?" "Has this helpful blood-enchriching liquid also been converted to a means of leaving consciousness behind?" Few days ago, I came across a post on social media, alarming parents of the fresh trend wherein blood tonic is consumed by youngsters in large quantities for quickly reaching their peak, unfortunately in "highness." I marvel at that counterproductive ingenuity to this day. At one point or another, you may have been as perplexed as I was, wondering what is going on.

Among many vices assaulting a good number of youths today, it seems drug abuse has positioned its chair, confidently sitting down with crossed legs unready to depart soon. The relentless pursuit of an unusual but unhealthy ecstatic mental state by tomorrow's leaders makes it feel at home. One of the high-ranking justifications for involvement in drug abuse is that the doors of creativity are unlocked through its keys. Musicians, academics, writers, dancers, artistes, etcetera, get cited. Creativity shares no necessary link with drug abuse! The possibility of upsetting the brain and having body organs insidiously damaged remain high after or without achieving your goal.

Well, the lives of Cobhams Asuquo, Wole Soyinka, Mark Zuckerberg, Chimamanda Adichie, Kaffy, and Michel Angelo shed light on creativity as a product of research, deep reflections, risk-taking, consistent practice, and an undying desire to stand out. Neither gulping codeine nor blood tonic is needed to do these. Take a cue and enjoy the fruits of creativity in that area. Such enlightenment prepares you or your child/ward to dismiss those seemingly strong arguments for drugs overdose or taking a sip of those concoctions with a wave of the hand. Although drug abuse festers, doing nothing is as deadly.

They keep finding new sources of highness.. Blood tonic again?? Shey they'll ban it like Tramadol now ni or what.

Why do people crave to get high? An honest question. Apart from the "forgetting one's problems" blabla, what else is in for them?

You'll never know until you try it.

It is not a Northern Nigeria problem. Everywhere you turn to you can see boys of 12 or 13 getting high and wasting their lives away.

It is a national problem and I really pity the future of this country.

meobizy:
Let me book this space here.

From now till tomorrow I will say this is a Northern Nigerian problem and not a national one. I don’t see what people enjoy from taking unnatural substances for a high. This reminds me of a man I once knew who ingested horse tranquilizers for a buzz and slept for three straight days.

Smoke your weed, drink from your green and brown bottles, drink those clear strong drinks but the most healthy (and boring) alternative is keeping off everything as a whole.

Drug addiction. Crime. Anarchy. E.t.c these are all SYMPTOMS OF A BIGGER PROBLEM! Most Nigerians are on survival mode. Any bad/failing economy will birth social vices!
To most of them it's an addiction. If they have money they will go for stronger more expensive stuff.
It's more it a moral and self control problem.

I went through your decry and truly share your disgust, although you can still pass your message without vulgarity. Like you noted, drug abuse keeps Nigerian youths in the dark and unaware of their role in turning the tide in our nation. That's why people like you, I (and us) must preach against those ills which pose a threat to a better future across board.

Thanks for this response. I was thinking I would have to be the one to tell this "unaware" folks how life works in the slums we have now. Do you have any idea how much it takes sometimes to motivate yourself? To educate yourself? And ultimately elevate yourself?.

Guy if you wanna talk about any vices at all, please educate yourselves first before you start this your holier-than-thou epistle.

"Refreshing," you say? Bear in mind it refreshes higher chances of tearing your brain, liver, kidney, heart, and sanity apart. It's such tags that encourage innocent youths to give it a try, ending up hooked. Would you say same to your own child?

Whats in blood tonic to make one high?
It contains some percentage of alcohol, so consuming beyond acceptable dosage leads to getting high.

Blood tonic has an alcoholic content. Those who abuse it do so with this knowledge; the more they take it, the "higher" they get.
