Obaseki should go to court. That national assembly resolution will not stand. The courts will surely reverse the rubber stamp decision. God punish them there.

PDP apologist,always enjoying confusion.

Obaseki and company, should withdraw the court case, abide by his party's and the senate's decision whether good or bad.A new proclamation has no negative effect on the progress and welfare of the good people of Edo state.

That is the way to go.Not every time you go to court, even if you are on the right path.Out of court obedience is also constitutional and legal.

Democracy is a game of numbers,9 cannot exclude 14.

Secret inauguration at 9.30pm undecided

People like you have no knowledge of how the law works.

Obaseki knows he can't go to court cos he's wrong. If he goes, the court would rule against him and he'll be forced to do the right thing.

He didn't play this game like a politician.
Oga did you follow the senate proceedings this morning? The governor has played his part just like the senate acknowledged that the clerk of the house also played his. Their bone of contention was that their was no specific time reflected on the governor's proclamation letter. Someone was trying to draw the attention of the SP to the fact that the constitution did not state anywhere that a specific time must not be stated in the proclamation, neither must it be announced in the print media but the senate President was just in a hurry to rubber stamp his paymasters' wish. For him it's payback time. But I assure you and your likes that come what may, Obaseki will survive this impeachment plot because Edo masses are solidly behind him.

Edo masses are solidly behind him but he couldn't get just 5 lawmakers from Oshiomhole's side to his side.

In politics, masses don't matter, it is voters that matter. He needs to get voters on his side, not masses.

If you are wise enough, you should have known that this is an APC problem. No PDP interest here. Your masters will not succeed in impeaching Obaseki, even if the house was inaugurated by 12 midnight, is Obaseki a member of the house or has he not played his part by issuing the proclamation? Say what you know and stop being unnecessarily petty.

You omitted the fact that the other 14 members deny receiving any text message or phone call in respect of any inauguration.

You also omitted the normal practice of advertising in the print and electronic media, which was mischievously not followed.

At this rate ,minority members of a house of assembly would be organizing sittings at 9.30pm on critical issues, just to exclude the majority. The constitution did not specify time, that does not imply rascal behavior and banditry.

Actually, the constitution empowers the National Assembly to take over a state assembly undergoing this kind of crisis.

Obaseki would still reissue that proclamation and you can go hang yourself.

The Ad-hoc committee investigating #Edo State House of Assembly crisis headed by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi has indicted Governor Godwin Obaseki over his role before, during and after the protracted crisis of the State Assembly.

In the report which was presented to the Senate chambers on Wednesday by the Ad-hoc Committee panel, Sabi Abdullahi, the state Governor brought ill-motives to bear on the inauguration of the 7th Edo State House of Assembly which led to the crisis.

The report noted that the governor worked in connivance with the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Yahaya Oloreigbe to shabbily inaugurate the House without knowledge of all members.

He further explained that the Committee met with all stakeholders including Governor #Obaseki, adding that inauguration improperly took place around 9.30pm on 17th June ,2019 contrary to global best practices.

The panel said, there was no adequate publicity of the date of proclamation other than that, the Clerk of the House pasted notices on the notice board which was not seen by all members-elect.

The Panel asked that a fresh proclamation ritual be done by the State Governor or the state Assembly risks Section 11(4) which empowers the National Assembly to legislate for the State.

“There was improper inauguration of the 7th Edo State House of Assembly at about 9.30pm and there was also no video clip evidence to that effect.”

The report recommends that “Edo State Governor should issue a fresh proclamation of the 7th Edo State House of Assembly or risks section 11(4) which means that the National Assembly would be legislating for the state.”

It said, “Prior to the time of the crisis, there was disagreement and lack of consensus among the State APC stakeholders in the state on the micro zoning proposed by Edo State APC.”

Meanwhile, nine members-elect out of 24 have not been inaugurated due to the crisis that resulted in the intervention of the National Assembly.

You still lack understanding. Obaseki is not a lawmaker but the executive governor. The law empowers him to issue a proclamation for the inauguration of the state house of assembly which he did. The house sat and elected a speaker and duely communicated same to him. You cannot instruct a state governor to reissue the same proclamation. If you and your ogas think you are in the majority, go to the house and impeach the minority speaker simple. Stop harrassing the young man. Say no to godfatherism. Inugo?

You previous write up says it all!

Hyporicsy everywhere. So a governor should control his house of assembly. The same people that are shouting rubber stamp senate.Shame!

Why should 9 exclude 14? Does that appeal to a sane and sound mind?

Here is the previous nonsense you wrote:

''Just read that Governor Obaseki is being pressured by APC leadership and presidency to issue another proclamation for Edo State House of Assembly. More worrisome is the information that he is trying to seek a common ground for a neutral speaker to emerge. That would amount to political suicide. The commonnspeaker will not last two sittings, he will be impeached.
If by now Obaseki does not understand the politics of governors controlling their houses of assembly, he should put a call each to Ambode and Ortom. Ambode is where he is now because he has Zero control over the house. So they haunted him all through. Ortom would have been impea8if he did not take control of the BSHA. Even Udom of Akwa-Ibim will tell you the same thing. To retire a godfather, take hold of ESHA.
Even Oshomole would not have taken that advice. Neither would Fayemi and Elrufai that are pressuring him to toes this line.
My advice to Obaseki, if he reads this is. Insist on what you have done. The house is already inaugurated. Anyone not happy with it can go to court. If the matter gets to Supreme Court and you are demanded to issue another proclamation, so be it. Then it vecomes a legal reference for future administration.
If Obaseki loses control of the state Assembly, he should as well kiss government house goodbye. Do not be intimidated by Dangote and Elrufai. Elrufai controls his house of assembly, Fayemi controls his. If you lose control, you are done for.

A word is enough for the wuse. I know Binis are wise and courageous people.''

Simply because they don't need an order of the court for the National assembly to take over the state assembly.

It's like you don't know how these things work.

Now, let me school you.

The proclamation was not communicated to the 15 members elect;
Members who weren't inaugurated aren't members and can't vote or impeach;
Obaseki's consent is not needed before the National Assembly takes over the Edo State House.

Everything is not harassment, this is not Igboland, don't carry your inferiority complex and victim mentality into this matter. Small time now, you'll be crying marginalisation.

I had written a few weeks ago already, that Mr. Obaseki, with his sudden propensity for political tantrums, was biting much more than he could chew — and rather too quickly and too soon.

For a man who, even as the sitting Governor, could not win his local OR Federal constituency for his party the APC during the February presidential election, what is his political value to himself and his party?

And what are now his chances of getting his party's backing come next year when he certainly would want to be his party's gubernatorial candidate once again and get reelected?
