Do you mean that all cases in the supreme court has to be heard and judged in 180 days?
I know someone who has had a case in supreme court since 2008 and judgment has still not been given.
Please clarify if you have the time. Thanks

Per electoral law the tribunal has 180 to deliver judgement from the date the petition was filed.

Any other cAse in Nigerian courts have no statutes of limitation lol sorry grin

Atiku's witnesses made the case easier for Buhari and APC . They inadvertently defended and supported Buhari's election through their testimonies at the Election Tribunal.
Nice One

The tribunal will fix the time it deems fit for it to deliver judgment. From instant, to the whole length of constitutionally allowed time. How many days are remain in the 180 sef?

Hope justice will take its full place and prevail so that the country will keep moving forward.

Amen to that.

Personally, I think Alhaji Atiku missed a golden opportunity to concede victory to PMB by calling him up to congratulate him after the election. He would have built on the precedent set by GEJ who threw in the towel and earned international accolade as a statesman who loves his country.

Had Atiku done this, he would have helped to heal the division caused by the election and help reduce ethnic tension.

I find it very embarrassing that this man now has to prove that he is a Nigerian at 70+ years or that he actually won the election based on the result copied by an Kenyan from an elusive server!

Atiku needs new advisers and lawyers. It is not too late for him to do the right thing and take his rightful place amongst the pantheon of great African leaders like GEJ et al.

Jesus, imagine being out of work and in court since 99, high court was against him, appeal judgment was in his favour and they moved to supreme court in 2008.
This is really disheartening.
Even him retirement age is very close

Adoption of final address is not the same as delivering judgement. Judgement will come only after that likely late September.

The question is, which exactly server will Atiku inspect when there is no electoral law permitting the usage of server in the first place?

It's in electoral matter that the tribunal has 180 days to deliver the judgement. From Tribunal down to appeal and Supreme court in total they have less than 300 days to give the final verdict. The 300 days are for only matters related to election

The retirement age does not matter. As long as the supreme court Verdict favours him, all his salary and other benefits will be paid.

Nairaland is not interested in knowledge sharing. Without giving you an opportunity to defend yourself the moderators hand down indiscriminate bans. They are not appreciative of the contributions of members who invest their time in making such inputs. Seun and his team can answer the questions. We ain’t dummies here!

Election petition has clearly stipulated time in the electoral act. 180days at the tribunal, 60days on appeal court and 60days for appeal at supreme court.
However, the appeal court is the tribunal for presidential election. Therefore the presidential petition has a maximum of 240 days to run its life.

I beg park well with your blackmail.

Has Atiku proved that he won the election ? NO!

or there was substANTIAL NON COMPLIANCE WITH ELECTORAL ACT? No!

If yes,the best he can get is cancellation,no court will declare him winner!

Was he able to prove that Buhar was not qualified? No! Now we know buhari had 5 credits!

Leave that for the PEPT to decide or you are PEPT? By the way, one of Atiku/PDP's plea is either to be declared winner or the election be canceled.
So your, postulation of cancellation is within his plea.

Now we know that the result issued to buhari is fraud!

How the hell did he leave everything in the hands of dumb iPods apologists when truly he could have had a water tight case.

They really finished him with the server goof and instead of defending him it was just about implicating him
Isn't it unfortunate that rather than be appreciative that Atiku's petition would deepen our electoral jurisprudence while strengthening our democracy, you rather throw drivel ?

Anyway, this petition will be another Atiku's contribution to our democracy like all his early democratic litigation. Thank God it is an Atiku who has the means to shoulder the costs of litigation else it would have been the usual 'God dey'.

They did and that is why they ended their defense abruptly.

The Atiku legal team had even urged the buhari's team to close their case yesterday when it became clear their witnesses are damaging buhari's defense.

The buhari team hurriedly called for adjournment yesterday morning.

When has atiku court cases or his quest ever been to the benefit of Nigeria.

It can to his nnpc friends sha but atiku has never done this country any good after been a part of the rot which our democracy was founded on
In 2007, his quest led OBJ to want to remove him as VP cos he defected to AC having been blocked by OBJ in PDP.

The matter went upto the supreme court and he got the ruling that is now the basis of tenure security of VP/Deputy Gov. Thus, the only way a Vp/Deputy gov can be remove is same as the president/gov even though, they came via joint ticket a defection is never such basis.
Thanks to Atiku we would have been having crisis of governors removing deputy on flimsy reasons.
