Is there any love comparable to the love of God? Peju probably felt there could be when she deliberately ignored all warnings from good friends and the Holy Spirit to stick to her teenage lover. Human love in it's purest form is still not a substitute or a match to God's love. "Once upon a first love" by Tope Omotosho

@topeomotoshowrites discusses many themes including forgiveness, discipline, godly counsel etc. but centered on Love and building a relationship with God.
It captures the story of Peju and other young people in their pursuit of God, their Faith, love life and life generally. "Once upon a first love" helps us to see that no one is beyond redemption both the backslidden and those who have never truly accepted Christ.

The turn of events in Oba's life proves this and even further shows that it is better to make the right decision later than to go on with the wrong one.

Furthermore, it reveals the reality that the Holy Spirit always speaks to believers and our responsibility of choosing whether to listen or not. In this novel we will see how easy it is to drift from our first love with or without being aware of it... This is a book for story lovers who love intriguing and captivating stories told with a literary prowess and filled with profound lessons. I loved reading this book and I'm looking forward to reading the sequel (I'll keep loving you). P.S: it's on okadabooks and it's affordable.

Here comes my review on this book "Once upon a First Love"

I'm not one to write stories like this except it blessed me and I want it to bless others too.

This book is a Christian Romance which is all encompassing. It opens your eyes to the love of Christ for you, it opens your eyes to the Kind of person God wants you to be, it opens your eyes to the Kind of person God wants you to be with .

The characters:

Peju: she allowed the desires of her flesh overshadow that of her spirit...I learnt that one can never experience peace if you're not in line with God's will for your life

Eliana: my best character. A true lover of God. To her, communication with God in every area of her life was very paramount and because of this, her steps were divinely ordered.

Femi: a true representation of Christ.

I admit that I have never read a book like this in my entire life - mind you I am am avid reader. Despite my extremely busy schedule, I "marathon" read the book because I couldn't put it down until I read the very last page !

The book is well written, prints legible and no "word fillers". I could relate with the story line and most importantly it felt like my love life with God was "x-rayed", a diagnosis made and treatment commenced.

Peju and Abduls' story left me in tears realising how I may have let down and hurt my first love (God) while chasing things that pass with this passing life.
Femi? I saw Jesus in that character - ever ready to stand by us and support us even while we hurt him with our choices and decisions. Now, I have a different and deeper understanding of "loving God"

When Tope told me "Honestly... can't take the credit. God gave me the storyline and words from beginning to end" I didn't understand, but now I do.

Tope, thank you for harkening to God's voice and obeying His prompt to go this route. You delivered this message well. Meeting you has been a blessing in more ways than one...God bless you Tope

How does something so perfect and beautiful leave you broken and devastated? -

Eleven years after Peju and Abdul fell in love as teenagers, they reunite and pick up from where they stopped. Nothing was going to tear them apart this time. Or so they thought. -

OUFL is a story of love, friendship, betrayal, pain, disappointments and unexpected twists. It brings your imagination alive but most importantly, it educates. Reading this book was like looking into a mirror. I could find a piece of myself in almost all the characters and also got new insights on how to strengthen my relationships. I applied some of the things I learnt to a personal issue I've been avoiding for a while and it was very helpful. -

I read this book twice in one week. I kid you not. It's how amazing it is. And i intend to pick it up again sometime soon. OUFL is more than just a novel. It's a life manual. I'd encourage you to read it too.

�I'm not a Romance read fan, but if I should read romance I prefer Christian Romance novels (Karen Kingsbury, Francine Rivers, Lori Wick et al).

So when I saw she had another book out I didn't hesitate to get it. And she didn't disappoint!

This is really an amazing read, the revelation, illumination and inspiration is captivating. I love the style of diction it makes me unaware of my surroundings lool, the whole love-paired characters and their illustrations are so thoughtful making it dynamic and vast in knowledge. This is one of my favorite Christian novel so far. I got to know about this through @mawunmi_27, thank you so much. The title alone is a very good reminder having read the book and going through great times it just stirs up the mind "FIRST LOVE IS JESUS" not man ❤

The funny thing is I was getting impatient with this book at first. I mean, what was going on here for crying out loud! Did I not read the first book till the end?

But I’m one of those efiko readers that hates to skip ahead so I had to keep reading patiently waiting to find out what had gone wrong!

At some point I even toyed with the idea of sending the Author a warning message to stop messing with my mind like this. And just when I thought I couldn’t stand it anymore, it was clear but just as I understood more, more drama started building.

But here’s the thing. I’m not sure exactly when but I began to feel a deep tug in my chest. It began with Femi. I love his relationship with God. The effortless way he hears and dialogues with God and how, as much as it hurt, he obeyed. My next favorite is Elianna. Her struggle is real and I could relate. But I think what really got me all messed up was Anthonia’s journey and how the author took us through it. That excitement! I was jealous for more of that!!! Then there was Abdul! Wow! I could go on and on. The plot twists and how God’s voice is a character all by himself!!!
Kai! You need to read this book yourself to understand. I can’t really explain it.

But here’s one thing I can do. I can encourage you to pray before you read this novel. Seek for more than just the ‘romance story’. It’s beautifully told but ‘I’ll Keep Loving You’ is way more than that. God has given Temitope a gift. The ability to write in a way that shows you his heart even as we humans go up and down in our walk with him.

She exposes God’s love and if you read with a prepared heart, you will encounter him. Afresh. Or for the very first time. And I promise, you will want to make him your First Love too. For Real. Deeper.

I cried ugly happy tears as I finished. I wanted what I had read and I told God as much. I know he heard me. That’s the power of this book. It’s like listening to the best sermon about God’s love for you, all you want to do is rush to the Altar and be embraced by this God that’s pure Love.
