I mean, why apply for a job you've got at least 70% conviction that you'll reject? it's unfair to the recruiter as well as other candidate that'll take the job. Anyway, life itself is unfair.

I have had friends that that happened to. He was affected by an unexpected layoff when oil price crashed in 2015/2016, thank God he was already undergoing recruitment of another company. He resumed 2 weeks after. That experience has taught me to always have one company you are talking to no matter how secure you think your job is. And yes, it's not only NNPC I'm talking to.

You really cannot stop anyone from applying for job they want.

By the way, I never said I was sure of rejecting the offer if given. I have always used "likely".

And there are other benefits to me, including polishing my interview taking skills (which will be used for teaching) as someone that co-owns an interview coaching firm.

You don't say this to people. If they say their salary is more than what nnpc wants to pay, it can be true and that's their problem. Jarus, some other people and I fall in the same category. You don't mock people as you did in the first phase of your write up we all try our luck. Life is taking risk. My monthly savings here (abroad) is more than nnpc salary. I just like Nigeria. I like to raise my children in Nigeria because it is easier. It will be easier for me to handle my wife in Nigeria than abroad. You posted the guy's 2016 posts by the way. A lot could have happened between 2016 and 2019. People have moved from earning N50k as a teacher in 2016 to earning N1m as a TOTAL upstream employee in 2019. So I'm not sure this is a great job.
