Governor Makinde Approves N500,000 Each To Oyo Indigenes At Law School by Abuharib(m): 8:03am On Aug 07, 2019
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday approved the sum of N500,000 each as bursary to the 120 Oyo State indigenes in the Nigerian Law School.

Makinde, who received an audience of the Law School students in his office, charged them to persevere in the face of ongoing economic challenges.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary(CPS) to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the governor as saying that he was approving the sum of N60 million to cater for the 2019/2020 backlog of Oyo state indigenes in the Nigerian Law School.

He stated that his decision was aimed at assisting the students to achieve greatness and encourage them.

It would be recalled that the last time Oyo State indigenes in the Law School received a bursary of N100, 000 was in 2012.

The governor told the student forum led by Mr. Olaniyi Ogunlade to ensure that they come back home to make contributions to the state after their studies.

He noted that the state has made an investment on the Law School students by the bursary award and would love them to make returns, urging them not to be carried away by the allure of Lagos and other cities.

Makinde stated that as soon as the ongoing rail project is completed, it would become easy to work in Lagos and live in Ibadan and vice versa.

He also charged the Law School students not to lose hope whatever the challenges they might be facing, adding that “life is not just for those who work hard but those who persevere.”

Ogunlade appreciated the governor, promising that he and his colleagues will come out with the best result in the history of Oyo State students in the Law School. He added that they would be proud to present the results to the governor.

He also made a promise that the beneficiaries of the bursary award would return to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

That is a good one from the governor. At least, it will help give them a foothold and something to survive on after law school and reduce incidents of working for them seniors looking for who to take advantage of with their 30k salary.

Back in our day, no body send us oooo. Even the deligate from my state that was to go meet government officials on our behalf wanted to open office on our head by asking us to pay 1k to handle for his team's logistics. Na so everybody buy brain disappear from the group. Little oga wanted to get his own busary from us.

This is what "constituted authority" couldn't be done do when my elder brother was in law school despite several visits. Omi tun tun, local woman is pleased

Meanwhile,Please let us be careful. Unchecked praise and Lionisation of Individuals has never worked well for us.
Let's not tempt Fate. Let's just look for realistic ways to help make Oyo an option to Lagos. Nigeria really NEEDS another successful State.

I've seen "Seyi Makinde will be President if xyxsjdj" on SM. Please let's not do this.

Let's focus.
We need a successful SW state that's pro-business and capable of stirring those around it productively. This has serious implications for our Economic and Security situations. We need to unlock a stream of useful investment opportunities and that requires that other Nigerian states experience a boom. You are in Lagos and Abuja paying rent with amounts that your parents used to build Houses in their 30s.

Oyo State could be what makes it possible for you to be in your 30s and have a house with a garden your kids can play in on a middle-class income. Portions of some sectors could be moved to Oyo from Lagos. There are lots of possibilities. But we have to be sober and deliberate

I grew up in Okota. I know people whose parents bought land for N10,000. Some bought 10 plots and Time did the rest.

Children got an inheritance even if their parents didn't hammer. You can only get that opportunity level in a developing state or area.

We need Fresh Fields.

When a human being is in power, he will understand the hardship the people are facing and would want to assist. When a wizard waving a witchcraft broom is there, people must suffer because it gives his party joy seeing suffer.

Don't you think it will cause others from departments like Med and surg... Engineering..Building tech to start protesting for their own... Or is their government prioritising law over others?
Someone should school me on that.

Buharist is a person with Automated Praising Configuration (APC). The APC comes with 4 additional coded programmes:

1. Every failure of Buhari is caused by 16 years of PDP.

2. Every criticism of Buhari is corruption fighting back.

3. Everybody in the world is a looter except Buhari and those like Babachir and Akpabio who have pledged loyalty to Buhari.

4. Every economic hardship, prevailing national poverty and unemployment is because Buhari has blocked people from stealing.

When you meet a person with this automated "reasoning" pattern, don't waste your time arguing. Always remember that nothing makes sense to a robot except pre-installed programmes.
