Last season, apart from the fact that we concede bucket loads of goals (which hopefully has been fixed by Maguire and AWB), we struggle to score goals and our midfield always crumble whenever we come under any small pressure.

Now we have lost Herrera and Lukaku is gone almost which basically means we are even worse off than we were last season in midfield and attacking wise.

Yes, OGS is a Yes man because I cannot see how he will look at that midfield and say he’s happy with what he has. Regardless of the tactics, if the players are not good enough, they are not good enough. I’m not one for blind optimism.

Add Matic to the list of players lost. So we're actually replacing Herrera and Matic with Tom and Fred inaddition to a more lackadaisical Pogba. Herrera is obviously better than the last two players.

While we can manage Tom to replace Herrera, we need mostly a replacement for Matic; someone at the base of the MF/holding MF.

I wouldn't blame Ole. I'm sure he has his lists of players but the signing ain't working out.

The thing I’m blaming OGS for is pretending to be happy with these bunch of players.

Ed takes the blame for our lackluster outing in this TW window, I just felt OGS made it easier for him by “pretending” to be happy with what he have currently because I cannot believe he’s happy with this current squad, that’s why I said pretending.

This is not the kind of midfield that inspire confidence.

Lingard - Rashford - Martial

Looking at that kind of attacking set up, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

We can do better and we should do better. Thunder from Ogbomosho will locate Ed and Matt judge everywhere they may be.

I can bet it with you that both Martial ans Rashford will not get up to 20 goals each ... don't even start with Rashford so I wonder where the goals will come from.. I'm not saying Lukaku shouldn't be sold but someone remind me how long it took us to buy each of the 3players we bought. We were negotiating so as not to overspend ...I wonder how we go underspend between now and tomorrow on players.

Yes I did and pre-season games actually means nothing.

We were even outplayed by Ac Milan during the last match.

We have not made any improvement in the midfield or attacking areas, infact we are even worse than we were at the beginning of last season.

We need quality players in that midfield and a reliable striker. No matter how good your tactics is, you still need quality players to execute your tactics. We were castigating these set of players last season, I ask you what changed?

When watching our preseason games, i don’t care if we won or lost, I didn’t even watch the PK shootout of the last game.

I was only concerned about how we played and the players OGS put out on the field.

If you watch closely you’ll see that he did lots of permutations and made lots of changes. In all of the games he featured at least 18 or 22 different players.

I think he’s implementing a new system and is trying to see which players are good enough to play in it. Now that preseason is over I’m certain he’s got a 1st choice team as well as his second choice team, with a number of players “inbetween”.

The AC Milan game you mentioned, most of the starters were from his second team and he brought on players after the hour mark. That was when the pace quicker and we got an equalizer. We’d have gotten a winner if the game was 10 mins longer.

I think We are goin to play in a much different manner than last season, with McTom and Pogba as first choice CMs and Matic, Fred and Pereira as backups. OGS needs just 2 CMs for this setup so maybe that’s why he isn’t that bothered about signing another midfielder. I won’t say no to reinforcements though.

The 4 positions upfront are where the main work is done. In the Tottenham game, Andreas Perreira played as an attacker. James, Mata, Lingard, Chong, Sanchez, Greenwood, James, Martial and Rashford also play these 4 positions one way or the other. (If Dybala was interested in Utd and came he would’ve been a significant upgrade on the squad . )

On paper, these players I listed don’t seem like much but if you put them in a system and have a good strategy, they can unlock defenses. After all, SAF won the league with a bunch of average players. And the players we have are really talented and skillful.

I’m not saying OGS is SAF though, hope you get my point.

So, looking into next season, I can understand why some people might feel like things will be woeful but I’ve seen enough in preseason to be hopeful that it won’t. I’m not over-bullish or saying we’ll win the league though, but I’m certain we’ll have a better season than last season.

This new defence- AWB, Lindelof, HM and Shaw will likely concede less goals than Youngy, Smallingy, Lindelof and Shaw and last season, that would have guaranteed a top4 finish.

Why I’m lamenting about the players is because these bunch of players are unreliable. If you remember how they raised our hopes when OGS arrived before they return to default setting which is why I believe we need more bodies into that midfield and a reliable striker upfront. Rashford leading our line doesn’t inspire confidence in me.

The club already know Lukaku is leaving like few weeks or month ago, why not get a replacement already before selling. We are at a disadvantage right now, any team we want to buy a striker from will try to get as much as they can because they will see we are desperate. How can we point ourselves in this kind of position?

What if anything happens to Pogba who’s our creative outlet? No matter how we look at it, the club fücked up not getting midfielders in, then now we are loosing Lukaku without replacements. It’s tiring.

We will see how the season unfolds.

All these pessimism and prophesy of doom is uncalled for. The same set of players went on 12 games unbeaten run or so last season when Ole came with goals to go with it, they tailed off during the later part of the season due to defensive problems and fitness issue. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone on to address the fitness and defensive issue during pre-season. Why not wait and see how well this players have improved and the result of the pre-season hard work by the coaching staff.

People keep talking about AC Milan match and how we were outplayed, does that mean the players are not allowed to have an off day during pre-season game that we even won on penalties. I have watched many pre-season matches were Real Madrid have been totally outclassed and demolished even after signing many players, is their season going to go bad?

Who is to say Greenwood cannot step up this season? was Harry Kane not given a chance by Poch, If Delli Alli that was bought from Ligue1 can make it in the Premiership what is stopping Daniel James and co? Mctominay and co can become a beast in that midfield with proper coaching and fitness regime.

The grass is always greener on the other side. We will will not finish below 3rd, I repeat.
