Hello everyone, I am still on my PPR journey but I really enjoy reading this page as it gives me inspiration to move ahead with this canny plan. I have some questions to ask. 1) I normally read where pple say immigration in Canada checked for PoF. How is this done do they ask u to open ur account or just ur bank Statement. Also is the POf goin to be in CAD. 2) How did u decide which area to stay. What are the different advantages of every province or state. I have more questions o but please help me answer this one first. Thanks |

Remicynt:I can't answer question 1. Question 2 is subjective. Go where works for you ie where there are job prospects or where you know someone who can help you take your first steps. As a last resort, go to a place where cost of living isn't so high and where the weather is fine. If all these factors combine, so much the better. |

Remicynt:Question 1:- Its actually a function of the mood of the immigration officer receiving you...but in your own interest, it is better for you to have around say$2000 cash(USD or CAD) handy, have an updated account statement to show and your DebitCard....or plan to transfer to a bank in canada...That will suffice with any stubborn Immigration officer,..but usually they are not.. its not advisable to travel with the whole POF as cash..But if you do,make sure you declare it where you will sign your COPR. But i will advise you to come with enough money if you cant afford the whole minimum Fund for your family size,Landing and getting your feet establish isnt a child's play.you will need money. Your second question had been duly answered above. Good luck! |

Does anyone know how soon the possibility is to get a Visa to the US after arriving to Canada through PR. I have an event in the US in 2 months but I don't have enough time to apply for the Visa from Nigeria before moving to Canada. |

tolulopearl:You can apply anytime but you'll be denied. You must show ties to Canada specifically financially. Just let the conference go this time. |

Tip: if you are coming to Calgary but have lost your Nigerian drivers license or aren't sure of the autenticity of your current license, get the extract from FRSC as replacement. It suffices, don't be tempted to cut corners. |

Psalm 126v1-3 King James Version (KJV) 126 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. 2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. 3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. The journey was not born out of desire but circumstances changed and I got feed up with FRN, so I sought help with my brother who was in Qatar as at 2015 to join him as an expat , all plan was working well until QA decided not to grant Nigerians Visa, so I quit discussions related to traveling and focus more on my job here. Fast forward to 2017, My brother came again with the idea of Canada and I wasn't too kin, he paid for my first and second IELTS just to encourage me and the second time he initiated a PNP route towards the tail end of 2018, made my wife PA... One question, please, about tourist visa. How long is it valid, how much time the person has before it's expired? I know about arriving and having 6 months stamped but how much time is it given to travel, 10 years? |
