Hello everyone, I am still on my PPR journey but I really enjoy reading this page as it gives me inspiration to move ahead with this canny plan. I have some questions to ask.
1) I normally read where pple say immigration in Canada checked for PoF. How is this done do they ask u to open ur account or just ur bank Statement. Also is the POf goin to be in CAD.
2) How did u decide which area to stay. What are the different advantages of every province or state.
I have more questions o but please help me answer this one first. Thanks

I can't answer question 1.

Question 2 is subjective. Go where works for you ie where there are job prospects or where you know someone who can help you take your first steps. As a last resort, go to a place where cost of living isn't so high and where the weather is fine.
If all these factors combine, so much the better.

Question 1:- Its actually a function of the mood of the immigration officer receiving you...but in your own interest, it is better for you to have around say$2000 cash(USD or CAD) handy, have an updated account statement to show and your DebitCard....or plan to transfer to a bank in canada...That will suffice with any stubborn Immigration officer,..but usually they are not..
its not advisable to travel with the whole POF as cash..But if you do,make sure you declare it where you will sign your COPR.

But i will advise you to come with enough money if you cant afford the whole minimum Fund for your family size,Landing and getting your feet establish isnt a child's play.you will need money.

Your second question had been duly answered above. Good luck!

Does anyone know how soon the possibility is to get a Visa to the US after arriving to Canada through PR. I have an event in the US in 2 months but I don't have enough time to apply for
the Visa from Nigeria before moving to Canada.

You can apply anytime but you'll be denied. You must show ties to Canada specifically financially. Just let the conference go this time.

Tip: if you are coming to Calgary but have lost your Nigerian drivers license or aren't sure of the autenticity of your current license, get the extract from FRSC as replacement. It suffices, don't be tempted to cut corners.

Congrats Folafikemi, I have actually been seeing and noting your posts, hoping you get your wish granted. Glad it turned out great.

This is basically my first post here after several months of trying to play catch up. It wasn't easy. I hope to go to Canada through Schooling route. I hope it turns out like yours smiley

He/she is referring to nbc though which is National bank of Canada. @cychristaa as @woodcrestmayor said, Nigerian banks can do a wire transfer for you in USD so you would have to open a USD account with your Canadian bank so you can convert to CAD when you land (with same bank if you want). Drawbacks? Bank fees (from Nigeria)

Please I need CSC materials, I just sent you a PM.

I'll really appreciate your assistance.

Thank you!

Psalm 126v1-3 King James Version (KJV)

126 When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.

3 The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

The journey was not born out of desire but circumstances changed and I got feed up with FRN, so I sought help with my brother who was in Qatar as at 2015 to join him as an expat , all plan was working well until QA decided not to grant Nigerians Visa, so I quit discussions related to traveling and focus more on my job here. Fast forward to 2017, My brother came again with the idea of Canada and I wasn't too kin, he paid for my first and second IELTS just to encourage me and the second time he initiated a PNP route towards the tail end of 2018, made my wife PA... Need I say that this brother of mine is an In-law turns friend and blood...

One question, please, about tourist visa. How long is it valid, how much time the person has before it's expired?
I know about arriving and having 6 months stamped but how much time is it given to travel, 10 years?

PART 3

SAT HI TO THE LATEST PR
IT'S A LONG READ... BRACE YOURSELF.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IGNORE THE TYPOS

AOR: JANUARY 10th 2019
PPR: JUNE 17TH
LANDING: AUGUST 5TH 2019
FLIGHT : - LUFTHANSA
ROUTE : - LAGOS - FRANKFURT - CALGARY
LAYOVER : 7 HOURS

Words I use
Beg beg aka BB
HUSBAND aka bae / hubz / boo/ boyfriend ( anyone as d spirit leads... The man can be husband this minute next thing he's doing like bf ‍♀️)
Daughter - DD
Dad - first love / FL
SON- DS
LUFTHANSA - luffy

I prayed for this day... John 5:14-15
U see after PPR I fasted and prayed for today. I was so specific I told God I wanted my kids to behave throughout the journey, to eat their meals, to be stress less and I don't want to bribe anyone... Of course amongst other request

Okay so the day is here.....
So we planned to leave d house 4 o'clock...
We were just all gisted and teasing each other around the house.. No one was even bothered about d time.

We sha dressed amidst the plenty gisting.
My FL asked us to kneel
And he prayed for us...
Left the house around 5:30... Got to the airport pretty fast. Went with my siblings, cousins and parents.
3 sisters
Dad
Mum
2 cousins
Plus 4 of us
Total = 11

ENTRANCE
Our bags were plenty so the guys didn't figure out who is travelling or not. I heard him say settle him 3k or so for the crowd of peeps entering Mehn I quickly unheard... Some things u just refuse to hear or understand.

All my siblings and parent entered inside
Gave them the handluggages
They pushed stroller

Bags passed scanner no ish..
Palm oil 10 litres ✅
So this palm I planned to take 20 litres... But d boo said... No let's do 10 now.... ( too excited to argue or insist... At this point I saw myself in Calgary drinking Starbucks coffee )

For lufthansa u weigh ur bags and ur weight is written on d bag with a tape ( see attached)

It's after ur bag pass the weight u now move to check in
Oya time to weigh
Our bags were accurately weighed at home.. All weighed 22kg... Or 22.5kg.
Noticed their scale is 1 kg higher...
Therefore our we had 4 bags higher.
Hand luggages are weighed on lufthansa and tagged approved.

I always put an empty back pack in my bag for just incase..
I packed the bags meticulously so I new what to remove and where to find d item... It's best to always know the heaviest items and put them at d handle part... I mean the top part of the bag.. Then stuffs u can willing send back home shld come next...
So if u open ur box u cab easily reach what to pick out

So I removed the one items from each part...
Guess what as we put it on d scale... It dropped drastically... Looks like d scale was corrected... So what we removed we put back and all bags flew.

We had checked in earlier so we printed our boarding passes... Bags and car seats tagged...
For luffy car seats check in is free.. (I don't have an infant both car seats were checked in.)
They asked us if we wld like to check in our handluggage free... We said no

Selfies and video time
My gush we took so many pictures... Made noise.. Hugged, shared jokes, jumped, played...
No tears o... ... We promised no crying... Besides I know they are visiting soon..

Went back in...
So first immigration peeps who'll stamp ur passports... Then straight to scan area... One BB was asking smiled... And unheard him immediately.
We sha entered
Then straight to KFC... We ate...
My daughter peed on her self.. Had to enter the restroom to wash her clothe change her and head back... Thank God I packed extra clothes... Now at d gate they asked if we wanna check in our handluggage again ... We said no

We were d first to enter in our category
Stroller was collected at foot of the aircraft ( pidgin - doormot)

My daughter quickly entered and sat on a business class seat ( baba God u see this... I know it's a sign u r about to uplift us). She sat so comfortably... D seat fits her Abeg.. I almost Sat down with her sef...

We went to our seats and settled in.
Food was deliciously delicious
My picky eater ate o. I and bf looked at each other and smiled
(We booked child meal online best decision ever) kids loved it.. It looked fun too curiosity made DS eat his food. DD is a foodie but won't eat anything she doesn't understand... But this food she finished it...

Had white wine... I was tipsy at some point....their alcohol is strong... Jisox....tot is just normal 5 %..... ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Oh oh oh.. Luffy had a changing room for kids...
Enough space for couples that needs to release the tension...
Abeg life na one... Just do it quietly... Clean up... Come out raise ur shoulder high up with pride... Anyone looking at u is wishing they cld too. Besides see it as hotel fees included in ur ticket.

They sha wanna make me fat in this flight... AlWays offering....me always collecting
Na my money Abeg.
We were full... No space again.

We r at Frankfurt Yay both kids sleeping
Hello Frankfurt... R u Ready for me
Layover 7 hrs...
Our stroller was given to us.... Just as u come out of the aircraft..... So we strapped the kids ... It had a tag on it... See attached... If my stroller was given to me... My big stroller then anyone's stroller will.

So Frankfurt how far na.. Anything for the Babe
Bf asked for our gate since it was written on our boarding passes... He heard 53.... Na here drama start after walking and location 54 we didn't see 53...hr now went to ask again... And he was told 53 doesn't exist..
Kikikikikikikikiki I just started laughing
We had to ask again now he heard correctly... 43
Found our gate... Freshened up a little... Entered the perfume shop sprayed my self

Found d playground for kids...
Kids played en... Till they were exhausted..
Energy burned sleep time... They both slept.
Again thank God for our stroller...we ate some biscuits we went along with.... Washed it down with drinks we purchased a Frankfurt...

Time to boarded. .

AIR CANADA
Boarding prority as per kids on a stroller.. We entered our seats were as I selected after paying for my flight.

Trust my DD
Madam went straight to business class.. ( Thank you Jesus now this is a confirmation...)

Food was also delicious. Entertainment was on point... They had some Disney junior cartoons
Kids ate too
We kept our lunch because we were full... Didn't give d kids the lunch...
One hour to land...
Went to "kitchen" to fill d kids water bottles
Got some coffee in my travel mug
Made golden morn to gauge them...

Touch down CALGARY...
Is my God not too much?
Gave us our stroller again... Thank God.

As we landed... Hmmmm have u ever stopped and thought and be like jeez... I prayed for this... My gush It's an answer.. It's happening
That was how I felt.

Noticed my husband face... He looked gloomy... Like the xtremely tired face ( u see my darling refused to sleep.. He was watching movies)
I whispered into his ear.. " my love we prayed for this... I know u r tired focus on what reality is about to set in " I noticed he smiled... A side smile.. Sexy smile... U know that smile a guy gives from d corner of his mouth... With his eyes sort of smiling too... Immediately u forget where u r and ur name sef... Ehen that's it ( Oya focus.... For where focus how.. When this guy is making every hair strand on my body stand)

He moved towards me and we prayed together quietly while we moved....

IMMIGRATION
We did d self check in self.. Took out print out..
Got to immigration... We were only two.. Guess Monday is a good day to land

We were ready... Scratch that my bae was ready ( he had to be... He had only one job in this process get our pof complete ready).
(hubz is fear fear before dey'll send him back with his family. this man saved en... At one point he said we shld stop lesson for d kids because of saving money ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️even removed his card from Netflix account )
Held cash and also Bank statements were printed ( incase login in became an issue... Like I said he wasn't ready for stories

Pof ✅
Goods to follow ✅
Goods accompanying list (beautifully written& held). ✅
Copr and passports ✅
New passport to swap ✅
Extra pen (incase their own didn't work) ✅

Okay we r ready

Gave her our Coprs and passports.. Asked us the normal statutory questions.
Told her I wanted to change my passport photograph... She agreed.
Copr stamped and signed.
She asked for goods to follow list.. Stamped it.
Told us welcome to Canada
That's it. Wasn't up to 10 minutes

Was still waiting for pof to be asked for... (I was too prepared)

Went to get our bags and car seats
Then Went to exit gave them d print out ( from d self check in)...
Den entered those golf course car ( they were d best to carry our load) ...they drove us to d elevator for our car rental ( we rented a car from Avis
I used my naija license to rent. It was about 200 for 4 days)
Got a taxi in addition as per our load, hubby and DD drove behind the taxi while I and DS were in d taxi.
He asked for car seat o. So we hooked it up... And vooom vooom vooom we move.

While at d airport airbnb peep asked me to let her know when I was leaving d airport. (We were chatting on iMessage)
Told her didn't have a line.. So wldnt be able to reach her.
She was waiting for us at d entrance
Did all d formalities.. Signed and she left.
Booked airbnb for a month..
No pressure to look for house... We r taking our time to do all that
Thank God for elevators in our condo... Just imagine how our luggage will get up if it were stairs.

So hubby drove out to get groceries and basic needs..
That's how I received a call... "My love what do we need for Canadian stew... I asked Who's phone is this, it's my new friend...chidinma... Haaa day one, u have a friend (who is called chidinma) already in this cold Calgary.... ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️ immediately my tone changed... Abeg buy anything and come home "
As he entered d house he started with" wait fes na... She's married with children and was just helping... Lol... Abeg this Canada is cold... There'll be a lot of friendly hugs we busted out laughing...

Tried to beat jet lag... Didn't sleep till 10 pm calgary time...

To my January aor group
When people you don't even know pray for u... I don't think there's any other form of deeper, selfless and purer love. U guys held the gates of heaven opened for me... One word to describe majority(I say majority because I'm petty .) of you "family"
Thank you...

Phew... I'm in Calgary Alberta Canada... A whole Me.. How do I even begin to say thank you Jesus . Look at God....

“But God has indeed heard me; he has listened to my prayer. I praise God, because he did not reject my prayer or keep back his constant love from me.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭66:19-20‬ ‭GNT‬‬
