The training featured among other sessions the application of Israeli Krav Maga combat skills, multiple weapons handling techniques as well as explosive and Improvised Explosive Devices management. Matiang'i said Kenya was seeking to handle emerging security threats and hostage crises promptly and with precision to female-only SWAT teams. The Interior boss expressed confidence in the squad saying it had so far demonstrated unmatched expertise in all the fields it was trained in. He assured the squad of government’s full support through improved welfare, advanced training, and capacity building. This is the third National Police Service’s SWAT team after Recce and and Border Police Units which are known for rescue operations.

Not really. Wrong comparison. Localized terrorism cannot be equated to one-off piracy. ISIS/terrorism is full-time localized to ME. Piracy is not a localized problem. It has fallen on EA coast after Kenya Navy/ Amison/ International partners stepped up for instance. But I think we are digressing from a first all-female SWAT team.
