Lady Finds Biafran Currency In Her Father's Cupboard by akinhanger(op): 2:54pm On Aug 13, 2019
A lady excitedly took to Facebook to share photos of the Biafran currencies she found in her father's cupboard.

Sophia Francesca disclosed that the currencies she found left her imagining how rich she would have been if it was Nigerian currencies. She however got suggestions of getting good deals on ebay for it.

She wrote;

I found BIAFRA NOTES in my Dad's cupboard today!!.. Its so many . i am hear thinking how rich i would be if it was Nigerian currencies
I am preserving history oo

Re: Lady Finds Biafran Currency In Her Father's Cupboard by GuestLog:
Keep it. Someday in the future each note will increase in value.

Edited: Please before you quote me and spew rubbish. First find out what collector's items are and how they get value.

In Nigeria, old stuffs are sold out dirt cheap. In foreign lands... They increase in value because collectors are willing to pay much for rare items.

Find out how much a baseball cards of Babe Roth or early issues of comic books are worth today.

Biafra will never become a reality. Igbos are not capable of managing themselves. Biafra land will break all the records of Sodom and Gomora. Drug trafficking, prostitution, 419, money rituals, raping, kidnapping, etc are their stock in trade.

These notes should be protected and preserve for posterity sake but since the fed control the museums, you think she will give this notes to an aboki man (they head most government agencies and parastatals now) to secure

The reason ondo states indigene will not allow the agbabu (bitumen) and olokola to be handled by the fed govt

Why can't state government manage museums and national heritage site?

Why always the fed government

If some things have been moved from the exclusive list to the concurrent list, Nigeria would have been better

The currency spent in the defunct Republic of Biafra during the Nigerian civil war (1967-70), Biafran Pound, has surreptitiously crept into the currency market, serving as the legal tender in some communities along the West African coast.

Investigations carried out by Sunday Punch showed that the money is being spent in the border town between Togo and Republic of Benin, while some currency hawkers also exchange it for the naira and other currencies in the border town between Ghana and Togo.

One Biafran pound still bears the signature of Dr. Syvelster Ugo, the then Governor of the Central Bank of the defunct Biafran Republic and the picture of a palm tree. What is, however, baffling about the currency is that it has more value than the Nigerian naira and it is openly accepted as a legal tender in the affected communities.

When Sunday Punch visited the Ghana and Togo border town, known as Aflo, some of the money vendors were eager to sell the currency. They, however, insisted on selling one Biafran pound at N800. The scenario at the Togo/Benin Republic border, known as Helakondi, was different as the vendors willingly sold one pound for between N200 and N270 to our correspondent. Some food vendors in Togo were telling passersby that they were willing to accept Biafran pounds.

In Ghana, the vendors were discreet about the trade. One of them, who identified himself simply as Tony, told our correspondent that the money was not accepted as a legal tender in Ghana, but that Ghana was a transit route for the currency.

He said: \"We get the money from some Igbo people in Nigeria. They bring it here for us and we cherish it so much.

Hmmm

This is a tricky one.

Keep it, all the same.

If the Eastern"revolutionaries" grow pass their "courage online, cowards in reality" status, who knows? You might have something good financially in the future. Of course with the hope the dear Biafran Government will handle finance excellently in this generation (that have more hypocrites) than those times when there was less internet but more courage and national spirit.

But if it's all talk, and talk, and talk, and more talk like the unfortunate generation we are in, it's still OK. Just use them to teach Social studies in primary schools or related subjects in secondary schools. Better still, submit them to a museum. Then go into hiding.

It is well with you.

Check out the quality of that currency! We can only imagine what could have been. But one thing is sure; and that is the fact that the Biafran people represents class. And if am asked if Biafra would have been like UAE today, I will answer in the affirmative.

One Pound notes?

Biafran?

Why not imagine it as GBP?

Then you might have something.
