Nigeria is arguably on the most religious countries in the world.

Despite serving "loving gods" we will not hesitate to burn people for stealing a bag whose content is probably not up to N100,000 but will hail political leaders when they are "blessed" by our religious leaders(imams and pastors)
Majority of people in southsouth/south east don't actually care about any religion. We are only refers to as Christians for political purposes

Useless mentality. Instead of channelling such anger into civilised protests against the real thieves, we would rather do justice on a petty thief.

You are pained my brother, imagine that you were the one that has the bag containing some good money and valueables.....Nigeria is like a cancerous wound likely unable to heal

If a common bag snatcher could be lynched and given such a horrific treatment, then what kind treatment should be given to the IBBs, OBJs, GEJs, PMBs, and BATs who openly snatched money from the national treasury, Nigerians wake up

This is what happens when you wanna make life miserable for others.

This is the outcome of refusing to work but wanting to rob those who work.
Shame

GistMore3:
A suspected thief has been set ablaze by a mob in Calabar South, Cross River State for snatching a bag.

An eye witness who spoke to Cross River Watch, said that the incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday August 14.

“Just this morning, he snatched hand bag from a woman who was going to her business along Utibe by New Airport. He was with jaz (charms, talisman) on his waist which prevented the people from beating him. He actually escaped into a moving Keke but the driver didn’t know he drove him to the next street, Usoro. Them burn am close to Utibe street by New Airport. The Keke man had to jump off the keke soon as he discovered that he is a thief, which give way to the street boys.” he said.

Are you saying my ownership of the money justifies burning the person alive? My point is it's the society that's failed, because if we were structured and people know they will get justice from the law, then the sane thing to do would be to call the authorities.

Haha! This is just so wrong!. Setting someone ablaze for snatching handbag not even at gun point o. While those in public offices who steal billions meant for the masses are celebrated. They are the ones who should be set ablaze not those ones stealing to survive.
Looks like animals reason better than some people.

To survive in the thievery business you must migrate from PETTY thief to CORPERATE thief who steal millions with just pen and we worship him.

Why kill a petty thief who stole a hand bag and worship his counterpart who steal "Ghana must go"

What he did was bad but you've done worst . All of you .

grandlexuz:

The roasting of humans by people who carry large Bibles on Sundays, dance in churches and shout "I receive" only goes to show the hypocrites we are as African Christians.

Eighteen years ago while returning home at around 8pm I heard a large shout of "thief , thief".. Apparently a pickpocket had snatched someone's purse in the dark of the hour taking advantage of no street light in the neighbourhood. People were running helter skelter. Not after the thief but to safety. Such miscreants often walked about with poisoned knives and anyone in their way was a candidate for blood spills.

Understandably I ran towards an area with lighting. When I got there and met a handful of people I decided to stop and take a rest. Panting and laughing in excitement at my run to safety.. Then suddenly one of the people around threw a " verbal bomb".. He said he had a feeling I was the thief. I explained I was in the path of the thief when the "thief thief" echoed and only ran to safety.. A few minutes later others joined him. It was a good residential area. A lady said the police should be called in, others said I should be beaten. Burning didn't look far off. Every explaination fell on deaf ears. What prevented an initial lynching was my composure, dressing and outlook. I was just 21 years old but the very responsible type on a first glance. Clean low cut, transparent glasses , good dress sense. That was what saved me. An elderly man looked at me carefully , listened to my explanation and asked me to go. Despite protest from the others I heard him say " That guy doesn't look , dress or talk like a pick pocket. He is worth the benefit of doubt. I learnt a very big lesson that day.
1) Our lives are in the hands of the creator..
2.) Dressing responsibly according to the norms would save you from prejudice.
3) Today I have three kids. Two sons.. I make sure their hair cut is low , uniform and clean with a responsible dress sense. It could come in handy someday..

Say no to jungle justice!!

The usual supporters of jungle injustice in the streets love to sing their repeated refrain that thieves are merciless in their actions, and therefore deserve no mercy when they are caught. Those would-be mob participants fail to comprehend that they themselves could face the wrath of a mob ANYWHERE and ANY TIME, in the street anarchy that characterizes so much of current Nigeria even today in August 2019.

Very few of such mob action supporters realize just how easy it can be for ANY person, male or female, and of ANY AGE, to find themselves FALSELY accused of being a thief, as a prelude to getting beaten to death and set afire by a baying, frenzied horde of bloodthirsty Nigerians who are primed to kill a complete stranger in the street, without the slightest hesitation.

Say NO to mob injustice and jungle street murder. Beyond the context of self-defense, NO civilian residing within a democratically governed society, can claim the right to assault, injure or kill another human being. The court system exists to ensure that these statues are upheld without fear or favor. Dissatisfaction with the performance of the police, or the court system, does NOT justify taking the law into one's hands by joining a lynch mob in the streets, under the misguided presumption that felony aggressors should enjoy safety in their own numbers.

Mob "justice" is mob murder.

All "Jungle Justice" participants are equally guilty of felony capital murder, under the current laws contained within the Nigerian constitution, therefore it is high time that the letter of the law is upheld in the specific instance of mob attacks and mob homicides.
