Copyright theft or violation is a serious issue, not under any circumstance should either one of them sing or perform any plantation bois song without the consent of the rest.

Black face is within his rights to try to seek redress in court if this happens. He has taken the right step by having his solicitors write them prior, if i was the one I wont even write them prior, I will wait till the concert ends and sue their assess.

This is not being bitter, this is doing the right thing.

But come to think of it, he is right with this decision. If it were to b in the western world, they would have paid dearly for their actions especially ruggedman. Tubaba and Faze have not erred in law if they choose to solely perform songs originally done by the now efunct group "plantashun boiz"

This man simply doesn't understand how the music industry works. You start as a musician, build a reputation, leverage on the reputation to create a brand, use your brand to do business. I'm almost certain that even if he gets paid all the royalties he is requesting he will still be broke because he doesn't understand the value chain of the industry.

If, as his lawyers claim, Tuface and Faze are co-authors of the songs with him, then the copyright in the songs vests in all 3 of them as joint owners under the Copyright Act in Nigeria.

This means that Ruggedman cannot infringe on the copyright in the songs if Tuface and Faze perform at his concert as the licence granted for the performance by Tuface and Faze as joint owners of the copyright in the songs will be deemed to bind Blackface.

The persons Blackface and his lawyers should concern themselves with are Tuface and Faze both of whom they can request to give account of the performance fee they will earn from the concert as Blackface, being an alleged joint owner of the copyright in the songs, will be entitled to an equitable share in the performance fee under the Copyright Act.
