Unrated900: as per what na, it's people like u that convince people not to be content and live within their means by looking for luxury vehicles with only half the cost in their akant..... I really wonder why people fail to use the most common and cheap resource they have to communicate reasonably.... I'm talking about your brain! use it, it might be small but it can still be used for little things like this! 12 Likes

Hi Guys, please I need your candid advise. I want to get a Honda Accord 04/05. Which do you think is better in terms of reliability. And give your reasons while you feel I should get it. I await your response. Thanks... |

vertueptime: What is ATF? Automatic TRANSMISSION Fluid. I have been guilty of using ATF in PS but i know better now. Now, i use engine oil instead in the absence of the real PS fluid. I learnt the hard way that engine oil is a better subtitute of PS oil oil than ATF. In the same vein, those who do not know that the source of constant PS problem is ATF also do not know that the constant keg problem is chinko ball joints. My own mechanic has even stopped installing chinko ball joints on his clients cars for fear of been blamed. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Good morning brothers and sisters. My brother just got a foreign used Honda DC 07. I'm here to help him get recommendations for the best oils to use, inorder 4 him to enjoy the car. Oils like( engine oil, transmission oil, power steering and brake fluid oils types is what I'm inquiring off. Thank you all |
Re: 4 Common Problems Honda Users In Nigeria Complain About by adanny01(m): 8:54am On Sep 16, 2019 |
eamodu: I don't know his current mileage but if its between 120-150k, i will encourage him to not touch any of the oils except engine oil for a very long while. This assumption is based on the fact that the prescribed maintenance period of these oils is about 100k miles so most of the owners would either sell the car before it to avoid the cost or do it. He will be safer with OEM PS oil, transmission oil and brake fluid than a fake one out here. He should avoid any ATF he sees on the street whether for steering or transmission. |

Thank you for the reply. God bless you. Pls give recommendations for a good OEM PS oil adanny01: |

eamodu: There is a leak and a leak doesn't hide. Also find out if you bought the car with the low PS fluid or if it keeps going down. Lastly, for your pump's sake, gauge the oil before it starts to whine. |

Hello everyone. I stumbled on this trend because I'm trying to dig out some facts on Honda City 2008 i-vtec. I even read posts of several arguments on Honda and Toyota - everyone advocates based on their experiences. I'm currently using three brands ranging from Honda to Volkswagen and Ford. I have the three in my garage. Each has got it's on Pro and Cons. Honda technicians and parts are all over the nation. Volkswagen technician are sparsely over the nation but concentrated in the northern region. Ford is even the worst of the three; I drive inter-city to fix it. My submission is: *Buy a car you can maintain* *, in fact, have a budget per season* 1. No brand is too bad or too good 2. Some of our mechanics are causing more damages to cars. 3. Some car users are not ready to fix their cars as suggested/ expected. 4. Avoid buying Nigerian used vehicle if you don't know its history. Since I've discovered a good technician and personally I've got a good ear to detect unwanted noise, I've been enjoying all the cars. I run a diagnosis on my car if the fault is not eye saw or wheel inclined before putting a tool. On Nairaland, CVT issues have been discussed at length to scare any prospect. CVT seems to be the next transmission technology. However, if you maintain any CVT according to the manufacturer's counsel; you may have no such issues not until many many years. I PROPOSE WE SHARE MORE OF CARS ISSUES AND THEIR SOLUTIONS TO HELP ANYONE OUT THERE. STILL AIMING HONDA CITY 2008/9. 2 Likes

Lol,funny enough I can only relate to 2(transmission failure) Grew up with Honda, first car I learnt how to drive in was an 86 Accord, since then it’s been Honda all through, presently have 4 cars in my house all Hondas,my mum drives an 2010 Crv,sister drives a 2005 Accord i4,I drive a 2005 accord v6, and we have a 2006 Honda Ridgeline for poultry and farm work, you see that ball joint issue everyone is complaining about we’ve never had it and I used two models notorious for that issue 98 Accord baby boy and 03 civic, transmission failed on both cars tho because we were using oando atf for servicing. Personally I’d never touch a Toyota except maybe the (2020 Camry TRD),Toyota’s just lack features, reliable yes but no personality. My 2005 v6 popularly called EOD has more features and technology than 2007 to 2010 Camry(factory navigation, mad ass stereo,Gorgeous bodylines and that sweet sweet VTEC(accelerates like a dream). Fanboy aside, the issues you need to worry about with any Honda is the intolerance of abuse(particularly wrong fluids), power steering would always fail on higher mileage cars(200k and above) same as central locks on accords(usually the drivers door sensor),oil shorting with no leaks (ringing)rebuilt more engines than I care to count, transmission would always go kaput from 180k, a little longer if you used DW-1. Key is proper maintenance, toks always have lesser issues because they have been properly maintained, have a friend who bought a toks 2002 Accord just last year and it still drives like a dream even with its dreaded j30 v6 engine, would be a year in March and he hasn’t fixed anything just regular tri monthly oil changes. I personally think the ball joint issue in Honda are caused by poor maintenance and very bad roads,I was having similar problems till I ran away from Honda and got an Acura TL and have drove the Acura for 4 years now no ball joint surprise,I started hearing creaking noise on my right Tyre anytime I enter small pothole and I foolishly neglected to check it out,the noise continued for 4 months and on 1 January 2020 I got a well packaged Honda surprise, the ball joint pulled off and I had to kick myself. 5 Likes 1 Share |
