Keep quiet! The church cannot be taxed. JESUS paid a personal tax, not a temple/church. Don't spread ignorance.

Who is Jesus to d church Mr professor?

Every church is God's property and you must be careful about how you approach them before you draw the wrath of GOD.

Which income did they generate from books or your just yammering along because you can type rubbish?

It amazes me how many of you call God and yet you hardly even know your Bible. Was it not the same God that said you should obey those in Authority (The royals and government)?
What was the reason Jesus scattered things of those that were selling in the church, but yet these things Jesus condemned is what most churches have repackaged selling holy water, holy sticker, books, anointing oil... Etc. They are definitely making money from those things so I see no reason why they should not pay tax or rather obey those in authority. It's quite unfortunate that when the laws guiding Non profit organizations were established in Nigeria, those who put the laws of exemption to payment of tax never foresaw how gullible the church business will become because they had real genuine reasons for exemption of tax but now, many pastors have taken advantage of that to fill up their own pockets and some are even boasting about it. Some also use it to launder money for government officials.
Many shall come in My name but I know them not... This statement Jesus made was not a mistake but the truth is that he didn't mention that most of them would come from Africa especially Nigeria.

It is a high time all religious organizations in Nigeria started paying tax.

They are no longer Fishers of men but Fishers of money.

May tunder be your portion, is that what is the subject matter? What is wrong with this children?

What about mosques that engage in commercial activities?

Income generated from such activities are subjected to tax.

Assemblies of God church is not God and asking the church to obey the law does not amount to fighting God. So, don’t mix the two together.

Church are exempted from paying taxes from income generated from tithes and offerings majorly. However, if they generate other incomes from commercial activities such as sales of books and other items, operation of schools etc, they are duty bound to pay taxes on such incomes. Salaries paid to pastors and other workers in the church are also taxable. The church should go and pay up its taxes instead of throwing tantrums around.

WHY IS IT ONLY CHURCHES ARE MENTIONED? DOES IT MEAN MOSQUE CLERGY ARE NOT PAID SALARIES, DON'T SELL QUROM, DON'T ISLAMIC BOOKS, DON'T HAVE SCHOOLS? WE KNOW THE GAME PLAN - ISLAMIZATION AND CRIMINALIZING CHURCHES

The problem is that ignorant people like you read and support you. Church is a non profit organisation and do not pay tax. FIRS does not know what is doing; same thing God is Good Motor said earlier, they dont even verify before publishing just to impress slave masters they are working.
Nigeria will never move forward as much as we have dudes like you in the majority.
Gbogbo nkan ni hatred ni? Very tiring!!

You are very ignorant of tax laws in Nigeria. Incomes generated by a church from commercial activities are taxable. This is my profession so stop telling me nonsense.

All religious organisations should be made to pay tax. They make millions from their adherents.

Nigerians are typical comedian. Which churches? Remember the story of the synagogue in the bible that Jesus turned up-side down. Was that God church as well? Don't we have many of such among present day churches in Nigeria.

If God has indeed ordered the collection of 5% and engaging in commercial activities in his name then Tax must be paid!
I support FIRS 100% (for any Country to excel it citizens must pay TAX!)

The problem is not about freezing the accounts. It how they go about it.You just don't go through a company bank account and because it has 100million naira turnover, you freeze the account. Put a call to FIRS and ask if they for once asked any question about the funds. Now lets talk about the church own. Have they asked questions to determine if the funds in the account was as a result of commercial activities carried out or donations. Like i said, the FIRS of today is all about gra gra and wrong interpretation of law, the same way it was done during the LIRS days.

So why did they specifically target assemblies of God church ? Are other denominations not qualified to be taxed? How about the mosques and traditional religions? Doesn't selective implementation of the law qualify as mischief?

Read a bible today to see if GOD can forgive your sins. Don't die in this state you are. Please.
You must be proud that God will bless you for your outreach...
But sorry,if I were a sinner do you think your 'mal-nourished' outreach would change me?
You are obviously not above 15.

Then why do they pay rent, and utilities?... Why do they use water, electricity, and other amenities provided by the government?... If the churches don't make income (doubtable), then how exactly are they run?... If they are charity organizations, who funds the charities?... Why do churches in developed nations pay taxes? Are they not of God?....

Most churches built their houses, they don't pay rent
which utilities, in Nigeria? Are you joking?
Churches get offerings by members, how is that an income if your child is feeding you?

Stop saying what you don't know because you want to glorify the devil.

Shut up! Why should government tax the church? You and your fellows will be crushed. You think the Christians/church of the last days will be as docile as the ones your folks are killing up North? The church will stand toe to toe against all forms of oppositions.
The church will march on, there is nothing you or your government can do about it.
neither am I a Muslim. But every organisation should be taxed

Y'all get emotional over nothing... How does asking simple yet pertinent questions equal glorifying Satan?... If Christ were present today, I doubt he would have taken offense as you seem to have.

In your haste to be unnecessarily defensive, you dabbled into fallacy (maybe ignorance)... A lot of churches in Nigeria, and across the globe, are tenants in the structures they use for worship... Some that own them equally lease them out for good fees, some have schools that generate very good income and profits... I know one or 2 involved in hospitality and other profit yielding ventures...

Please, do some research on this subject... I have absolutely nothing against the church. I'm just practical and realistic. Thank you.

I’m well aware that RCCG and Living faith pay taxes on all their commercial activities. FIRS is not specifically targeting Assemblies of God. They are targeting tax defaulters and Assemblies of God happens to be a defaulter.
