After one rejection, 7 months of waiting, so many pain and stress, I finally got my study permit renewed today at Lagos.

No need to dwell on the past but I'm very sure that the government of South Africa is trying to tell us not to come to their country, subtly though. Of course they have a right to and not to. It's their country. We have messed up ours, even amongst us we treat each other like thrash.

Our politicians steal us blind and see us as subhuman. But we always find a way to still queue behind in the name of tribalism, religion and whatever rubbish we have here.
So I blame not South Africa as we treat each other worse.
Just need to go and finish my study and find my way.
Pardon my story... Even though I'm happy with my visa I'm very pained at the whole situation.
It is well.

If the booklets are not too much, they will accept it.
CaptainDee:
Good day to you all. I am applying for a study visa and I am planning on submitting in Lagos this week, but I have a question. I just got the Bank Statement of my sponsor yesterday and it was 6 months even though I told him I only needed 3. I want to know if the vfs office in Lagos would accept 6 months, as it is stated on the requirements that only 3 months is required for Lagos submission. I would have gotten a new Bank Statement from my sponsor, but he left the country yesterday to be back September ending which is too late. Can I go ahead with the 6 months statement or I will be turned back? Please, has anyone been in this situation before?
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by klexycole(m): 9:16pm On Aug 20, 2019
Applicants should take note. I was bounced at VFS last week Thursday (15th August) and wasn't allowed to submit a tourist visa application after I got a mail from them to come for submission.

Imagine the disappointment. In fact, no reason was given. I mailed them same day and here's what I got from them today. See below.

While SA is busy granting Visa Free Opportunities to other countries, they are here playing Nigerian - it's pathetic. undecided

Did you submit your statement of account? How about the introduction letter from your place of work?
Kindly help with your digits. I have a conference to attend by November and I want to start the processing.
Thanks

You can hold on as long as you don't stand to lose anything by them holding your passport. I had already decided I was gonna go get my passport this month ending if nothing comes up as I was thinking of going somewhere else to complete my research. And please pray.

Please note that the following are not for certification in Abuja. Just to add this in case you've missed it.
Your ID document (or PR letter) also needs to be certified. You can get this done at the SA High Commission in Lagos if you are no longer in SA. If you are still in SA, certify it from any police station and scan to them. Please let the stamp show very well if you are doing it in SA. Those VFS guys are something else and they may want to reject the application if the stamp is not showing VERY well.

In short, any document you are sending to them from SA should be certified, aside from your invitation letter to them of course.

PS. Thank you for helping others while also waiting to be helped. That's the spirit.

Thank you so much. Do I need to request a police clearance certificate or there's no need since it's my wife & child applying?

You can use your account for both of you. However, make sure you write a letter to indicate that you will cover "all his expenses, including his travel, accommodation, feeding and all other incidental costs that may arise during the trip".

Finally, include a copy of your bank statement for him and a copy of your Passport Data page.

Cheers and all the best.

No, you don't need to get PCC for yourself. Only your wife does.

Hmmmm. Good question.

The truth is, it depends on how lucky you are and also who you know. Some people still get their visas even before that timeline you indicated. Some of them know people, others don't, just pure God/luck.

@ bolded is very true o.

If the police stamp isn't showing well, they would reject it.

So tell them at the police station to press the stamp very well o grin

Had to do it twice

UKZN has tuition waiver for PhD programs and you can use your personal account to show proof of fund for upkeep.

Major challenge you may have is getting potential supervisor.

Hi everyone, has anyone gotten study visa lately (for PhD), I applied March 15th (5months 11 days today). Few people I know have gotten theirs last week, including someone who applied March 14th. Was at VFS Lagos last week and i was assured they are working on it and it will be out soon. Kinda worried. Hope these people never lost my passport sha.
