Point of correction, Igboland is not landlocked. No inch of Igboland will be left to anybody. If other millions of yorubas can reason like you Sowore would have been out from detention. If yoruba can deny Sowore because of national revolution what will become of one who srats regional agitation. Fear of escape makes a slave serve eternity.

That the entire east is landlocked is fact. You guys need us in Niger delta if u are ever going to achieve Biafra. You need our resources and access routes. But we don't need u. There's nothing for us in ur useless biafra

Although I am not in support of Nnamdi Kanu type of Biafra idealogy but I have to give it to him that he is arguably the most influential leader from Nigeria in the world....
How is he the most influential "leader"?

What influences does he command outside the Igbo nation?

just because others are more subtle when using their influence doesn't mean they don't have it

Let the Niger Delta boys start blowing pipeline and watch how European leaders will force Buhari into a decisive action in less than 2 weeks

Protest is going on in Hong Kong

Rallies and protest are almost a normal occurrence in international events like this.

@ emboldened is something an average Igbo don't understand.

For this singular reason, most Niger Deltans will probably prefer to stand alone.

I look at igbos determination to chart their own course even tho they are landlocked and not having a big city like lagos and i ask myself what is wrong with us yorubas? Why is there no serious independence agitation in our land? We are better positioned than these people to own a VERY progressive country. Is it because of oil? Wat will oil be in a few years with global warming getting more serious? Are we afraid to go to war? With who? If the east, west and south are agitating for independence at the same time, its a walk over. The north cant stop us. Are we afraid to go it alone? Why? The state of the nation has gotten critical enough that its time for the yoruba nation to abandon it. I cant even come back for xmas with all the insecurity in the land now...my God.
Lagos is not a big city in the sense of it. It is the smallest state in Nigeria.
Everything it has today is attached to Nigeria since the time of the brits when they used it to export Nigeria's raw materials to Europe.

Today, We use it to export oil products while we use it to import goods for Nigeria's large population.
And any other thing is a consequence of that economic relationship.

Once Nigeria splits, Lagos would become a little better than Ogun state.
It is certainly not going be exporting that scale of oil or housing the head quarter of many multinationals whose real activities are not in Yoruba Land.
Nobody would allow that anymore.
Many other non Yoruba owned industries would relocate to their ethnic homelands as there is no more Nigerian cover and population has dissipated.
Import business and revenues would reduce by over 1000‰ as the population it is serving is a Yoruba only population as regards to the rest of Nigeria it currently does.
The importers who are mostly Igbos would be looking to divest closer home tothe Niger Delta waters.

It would economically shrink in hundreds of folds and become a port novo or Lome.

I have no problem with you wanting secession. It is.your right.
But know the real state of things and don't think Lagos would remain the way it is if that is your hope.

i also wonder the same thing my sister. I am igbo and i would very much prefer a country without the north/hausa fulani but the issue here is that any yoruba moslem will be against it. Just look at how they are already attacking you for making sense. I still ask myself why are the yorubas not agitating for their own country? Is nigeria a paradise that leaving it will spell doom? I wonder.

Yorubas have a lot to lose, so I can understand why they don't want to leave Nigeria.

Even Igbos have a lot to lose. A whole lot.

That's why I believe that restructuring is better.

But it's very annoying that APC, which boldly captured restructuring in its manifesto, has relegated it to the background.

Apparently, a United South is a mirage...

Nigeria, as it is, is an embarrassment to the comity of nations

We cannot continue pretending that all is well with the country.

The issue with majority of Yoruba is they lack the self belief Igbos have to say enough is enough with this failed 'one Nigeria' experiment, and resolve to go it alone!

The issue is their leaders of thought like Tinubu, etc, are gaining a lot of business and godfatherlike status from the status-quo as it is, and since these people (and not the likes of Yinka Odumakin, etc) are seamingly the voice of the Yoruba at the moment, they are not looking at doing anything that will upset the apple-cart and hamper the opportunities and political-economy that's presently benefitting them....and by extension, Yorubaland in general! You will hear talk like 'the Yoruba are sophisticated and not given to acting on impulse like the Igbo....hence the acceptance of 'one Nigeria', since it can't be dismembered'!

The other thing is these group of Yoruba that would rather settle for 'one Nigeria' instead of an independent Odualand are mindful of the fact that Lagos owes it's present leading economic status in Nigeria and West Africa to the Nigerian political-economy obtainable from the late 60s to date! They are aware this political-economy, together with the input of ALL Nigerians (Igbo, Hausa-Fulani, Uhrobo, Itsekiri, Ijaw, Effik-Ibibio-Annang, etc) are responsible for Lagos being what it is today, and since they are presently in control of the political structures of this Lagos, why do anything to upset this arrangement that benefits them *politically and *economically (*Tinubu wink )! They are aware that If Nigeria breaks up today (or even adopts total federalism where regions/states control their own resources like hydrocarbons, sea and airports, etc) that this will spell the end of Lagos as we know it today, and as a consequence, the benefits they're presently deriving from it!

Some of them that see Ndigbo as the competition that shouldn't be allowed to better them in anything also see the demise of 'one Nigeria' as benefitting the Igbos more than them! They are afraid of a situation where Nigeria is dismembered and Odua go it alone, while across the Niger the Igbos come to an agreement with the likes of the Effik/Ibibio/Annang.....agree to the articles of association, and form a confederation! Bearing in mind that Nigeria in general and Lagos in particular owes a large part of its success to the peoples that would make up this new nation in the east, and the inevitable withdrawal of these peoples from Lagos (and even Abuja), they feel this new nation would have bright prospects for success while they will be stuck with the Fulani in one form or the other! This they don't want to happen!

These are just a few reasons why you don't see the zeal for going it alone in the west as you see with Ndigbo....lack of self-belief, and being concerned with if the Igbo will benefit from the new set-up more than them!
