It's a way of referring to millenialls. The theory is that their generation was when children began having Indomie fed to them as a staple food, in place of more conventional staple foods like Amala, Fufu, etc

Yea, it debuted in 1988 but it didn’t catch on till the 90s. By the mid 90s, Nigerian parents were feeding their kids indomie. The Indomie generation upper limit should be about 20-22y so basically generation Z depending on which stat you use.

The Indomie generation have little to no reference pre 2000s. Nigeria and the world changed a lot after the 90s. I think most older generation Nigerians feel some topics need a good pre 2000s knowledge. E.g. Indomie generation don’t know a Nigeria under the military rule, can’t remember Nigeria without the internet, cell phones, writing and posting letters etc.

Also, it’s just the typical generational war. Previous generations always bash their successors. For instance, on a global scale millennials are being shit on constantly by previous generations.

They are just using it as a slang to differentiate between people born in 1980s and 1990s from 2000s kids,Although indomie has been around for over 3 decades,but it became very popular among the children born from 1999 till date,kids born in 2000s really love it to the extent that,they prefer it than feeder.

To me oo, it doesn't mean how long Indomie was debuted to Nigeria but for those kids that are born into the age where indomie has become more popular among kids. Simple!

Festac was a peaceful, tranquil and safe haven before it became a den of pickpockets,armed robbers,kidnappers and Yahoo boys. you can go to a relaxation joint with just 500 naira and buy drinks and pepper soup to your satisfaction even as late as 2am and you are safe.if you walk around festac by 11.54 you will be sorry for yourself.infact by 7pm shop owners are closing when it was even at that time faaji was getting started

That's a term created by the self-righteous, self-important and incredibly arrogant older generation who grew up in the 60s-80s/very early 90s and are still stuck in their era and think that modern music, clothes and trends are shït. They are always caught saying "back in the days when the times were good" or "back when the society was still sane", they hate social media, teenagers, pop culture and they feel like they are better than everyone else. They can't accept the fact their generation is becoming irrelevant, they refuse to retire and pass the torch to the succeeding generations. They are self-conscious and insecure about their own advancing age, so they address 20 -somethings and teens as children in order to feel "young". They feel like because they played with sand as opposed to iPhones and tabs while growing up, they have higher intellectual capacities or something but that's BS. They are a hypocritical and arrogant generation that tries to discredit younger generations and tags them as lazy, dumb etc etc but it really ain't our fault that we are little privileged unicorns They feel they are better than everyone else because they played with certain toys, listened to certain music, lived a certain way of life and had certain experiences which thankfully cannot be recreated in modern times

Though indomie was introduced into the Nigerian market 1988, nobody knew about it till mid 90's, infact 2 minutes Noodle' became popular before it. It was seen as expensive for the average Nigerian then before indomie broke into the market with cheaper prices. Even then it wasn't even considered as a meal replacement till the year 2000. So we can rightly call the millennials as the Indomie generation.

I was born in the late 70s, sincerely i never saw indomie until around 1999, 11yrs after.
A friend who is 2 yrs older than me, only got to know indomie in 2004, 16yrs after.
The truth is, indomie actually became known to most homes around late 90s to early 2000.
The implication of this is, those born around that period are the teenagers of today.
So, it's never out of place to say "teenager or indomie generation" Hahaha.
