shadeyinka:Very correct. Alot of the privileged people from the pre indomie generation left the country for education and exposure but by the time they were/are ready to return back things weren't/isn't how they left it hence difficulties in settling down thereby forcing them to return abroad. What happened to the so-called aje-butters? They are all scattered around the world. A lot of them sold their inheritance to buy houses abroad and live abroad. Naturally people want better lives for their kids compared to what they had. Imagine growing up in a society where you don't have to worry so much about your kid's safety, education was sound irrespective of its government school or public owned. Health care was manageable but now you will spend arm and leg on hospital bills and still not get healed. The list goes on. We can all play a blame game I. E we blame the generation before us then the generation after us will blame us but the generation post the present one will not blame this present generation but ours and consequent ones. I saw a good society in Nigeria to the extent that when I first travelled to England I wasn't moved because it wasn't so special well it depends on what part of Nigeria one lives in as for me I lived in city centre lagos with all the modern amenities of that time as attained in any society in the world so I'm pained when I look back and compare. I don't want to even bring my children to visit Nigeria because there isn't anything for them to do or partake in unlike back in the day the family clubs were functioning, we went to Apapa amusement Park which was world standard, Bar beach was a blue sea not the dirt it is now, Mr biggs,UTC, leventis, domino etc now we have blooming shoprite and spar and they are extortionate. That Nigeria that a lot of children lived in with their American and British passports, some not even knowing they are born abroad, that Nigeria that we had mixed raced children in our schools because pre 1984 Nigerians abroad always moved back home. That Nigeria is dead and all the natural, superficial and spiritual powers does not have the power of resurrection so there is no resurrection for Nigeria let's just take it out of the morgue and Bury it. This generation forgive us for our inactions |

dangotesmummy:Do you have dstv? Do you know channels like cbeebies, and PBS? Those are government funded. What educational channels is this government funding? The best they could do even then was recycle shows like Sesame Street Big brother is a for profit reality show. I do not understand how it comes into this. |

They fit millenials, those born between 1981 to 1996. They were the probably the first generation to enjoy noodles. They were also the first set to encounter the internet - at least in America. They were the first set of teens to experience the internet. A good number are also tchildren of the Baby Boom generation, those born between 1946-1964 like Obama's children Austria is the first democracy to have a Millennial as their president |

saintneo:Can you compare these to what is used now? Yes I used them. I even used to have two radios one plays instrumental and the other I put on record and make my own songs. Now let's compare.... Back then someone with my rap and rnb skills does it for fun and only his friends will listen to it and can't really pursue a career in music. Non indomie These days download a software on your computer and make instrumental and record your own songs and you can even record a video with a phone and download on YouTube. Indomie generation. Which one is better? |

A new generation of children are now growing up, who never tasted any prosperity, who never experienced a bit of Nigeria's prosperity, when it was a bit ok. These ones have lived all their lives between the rock and the hard place. Education zilch access to public utility zilch entertainment and relaxation zilch Extremely ignorant extremist religion 100% Only sufferhead upon sufferhead My fear is, the mass that is growing up with this mentality will be the almajiri of the future. Fully mentally enslaved, they will accept poverty as their divine right. Once they are able to transfer this mentality to their children, conquest is complete, the wasters can rule till eternity. |

bolayei:Seriously a lot to be written about past Nigeria and new Nigeria. I wish the generations that comes before this generation could do better. Nigeria would have been the best tourist attractions country in Africa. |

It is very simple!!! Indomie generation entails the following:- 1. A reductant Dad who can't fly his responsibilities of his family to the latter but resort to flindering with side chicks across the niger. 2. A zombie house wife who can't help install the moral ettiquette upon his children but decide to follow Mr P on a ride across the niger. 3. An unemployed nigerian graduate who can't create a niche for himself as to help fly the family name across the globe but resort to blaming Buhari for not employing him or her in the n power initiative. 4. A child who will refuse to eat eba and soup for lunch but resort to settle for indomie instant noodles. Na me una won give headache abi...! |

bolayei:You have loaded it. Those who didn't partake of those experiences can never understand. Most of the Nigerians making waves outside the country now belong to that set of the pre-indomie generation. Nigeria was so good that in my boarding school then, the rich children took flight (it was cheap relatively) and the rest of us took the train. Unfortunately, Nigeria has been reduced to a place of not opportunity for the intelligent or the hard worker. Now, everyone want to be a musician or "actor" or footballer. It seems senseless to want to be a Scientist, Accountant, Economist, Engineer and any other professional vocation. Just look at our graduates and believe you me, you don't want to be like them. It's better to be an Olamide, Reno, Tiwa Savage, Mr P, Naira Marly AND Bob Risky with these so called actors who managed to act minor roles in 2 home videos yet are millionaires. I pray for a revolutionary leader to forge our nation to the right direction |

pocohantas:So many things make you indomie generation because you cannot relate with a lot of the things that happened in the 80s when television broadcasting became more popular in Nigeria. Though some ran through early nineties, they stopped almost around that period so? ? Now do you know the following snacks Rockies Gowon finger Oyon malu Balewa Supreme ice cream Gogo Or the following cartoons Teddy rockspin Ovid and the gang ( though this was early nineties) Sesame street Fragle rocks Bird man Danger mouse So many more Or movies like Simon templer Jake and the fat man Robin hood Cock row at dawn ( didn't understand it then) Things fall apart Tele movies then very scary movies with sadiq daba and hawa( not her real name gobadia or so) Second chance Pot of life Amiwu These were movies that kept the land of Nigeria sane those days and not what we have now that even cartoon show sex movies. Men... I miss the generation of those days. I'm not old abeg. Nobody should come and start calculating one number that is just mere figures. I'm still young and very attractive |
