South Africans on social media have revealed the reason why they are carrying out xenophobic attacks on foreigners in their country.

Videos and pictures are currently trending on social media showing properties e.g houses, cars and shops, owned by foreigners getting burnt.

Also, the videos show foreigners getting chased across the streets, beaten and burnt alive by South Africans.

This world is so big, yet so small, and what goes around comes around. Attacking and killing people for nothing just because they are not from your country is another new low level of barbarism. Why not peacefully deport them if you don't want them there. Why violence and death?

There isn't any justification for the mob attack and lynching of foreigners including looting and destruction of their properties. Let no one try to rationalize it.

Granted that a handful of these foreigners are allegedly into fraud and drug, the South Africans should have mounted immense pressure on their government to arrest, prosecute and deport the offenders.

You can't lump the entire people of a particular country up and label them criminals just because of some bad eggs.

I solely blame this incessant xenophobic attacks on Nigeria government's lackadaisical attitude. The ineptitude of the government seems to have emboldened the attackers and their government. Just recently when Nigeria increased the Visa fee for US travellers to Nigeria, didn't the US government retaliate in same measures? Didn't our government quickly retrace her steps?
