CHAPTER TWENTY SIX


Louis woke up hours later, he looked around and saw three people in the room, he sneezed which got everyone running to his side.


"Babe?, you are awake, how are you feeling now?" Nanya said taking his hand.


"Am fine babe, i guess the surgery was successful?" he asked rather than said.


"Yes my son, it went well, you have been cured, you won't die anymore" Mrs Scarlett smiled through tears.


"Louis my man, glad to have you back" Leo said putting his hands in his pocket.


"I knew you were going to miss me so much, and you would be crying everyday, i had to come back" Louis chuckled.


"You wish" Leo scoffed looking away.


"You never told me you had a girlfriend son, and from what i have seen so far, i think she is expecting" mrs Scarlett said switching gaze from Louis to Nanya.


"Yea mom, am sorry about that, it just happened all of a sudden, but what do you mean by she is expecting?" Louis asked greasing his eyes in confusion.


"I mean she is pregnant" she said.


"Is it that obvious?" Louis asked with a chuckle.


"Am a mother Louis, i can detect when someone is pregnant or not, hers is even so glaring" Mrs Scarlett explained further.


"Mom, dad told me something two days ago, but that is something we will talk about later, when i get the strength for it" Louis said waving his hand in the air.


"Okay son, but wait a minute, i haven't seen Chiboy since today, is he not aware of the surgery that happened today?" my Scarlett asked suddenly.


"Chiboy?" Leo asked looking at Louis.


"Yes, i mean Charles, why hasn't he come since today?" she asked further.


"Wait mom, you just called him Chiboy" Louis said.


"Yes, that's his pet name, it was given to him by his father, you mean you don't know?"


"Louis?, are you thinking what am thinking?" Leo asked.


"Yes bro, i hate to admit it but am thinking in that direction too" Louis completed.


Just then, Charles entered the ward with fruits packaged in a shopping nylon, he greeted everyone and nervously moved towards the cupboard to drop the nylon.


"St Louis, how are you feeling now?, i just heard from a nurse that you had a transplant today, nobody even informed me about it" he shrugged.


"Well that's because you are evil" Nanya hissed eyeing Charles.


"Excuse me?, what did you say?" Charles asked angrily.


"You have been excused already, and please stop adding "St" to my man's name, he doesn't own a sugar factory" Nanya hissed loudly.


"Babe, calm down, that is just a nick and nothing else" Louis said trying to sit up, his mother ran towards him and helped him, he rested his back on the bed board.


"I guess i should leave, it is obvious that she doesn't want me here" he sneered walking away.


Once he got outside, he placed a call to someone, the person picked at the second ring and Charles said


"Hello Mom, can you imagine?, Louis got a new heart today and i didn't even know about it, i don't know how he got a donor actually, he is alive" Charles scoffed breathing hard for talking at a time.


"Thank you for giving us a strong evidence" Leo said standing behind.


"Now what the hell are you talking about?" Charles asked hanging up.


"So you have been a bad egg all these years?, i thought you love Louis like a brother?" Mrs Scarlett asked


"I still don't know what you are talking about" Charles feigned innocence.


"Don't give me that crap because Leo already recorded everything, so better start talking now" she said as Leo raised the cam recorder up for him to see.


"You want to know why?, you killed my father, you and your husband, you expect me to be happy? huh?" Charles yelled.


"What?, but we begged for forgiveness, your mom said she had forgiven us, you said the same thing too" Mrs Scarlett sobbed.


"Oh yeah, you think sorry is the end of everything?, just like the way i would have said sorry to you if Louis had died" he scoffed.


"it wasn't our fault that your father died, and you know it" she sniffed.


"Just shut the Bleep up, you know what?, am leaving here this minute" he said turning to Walk away when Leo grabbed him by the hand.


"Am sorry man, but you go no where"


Charles gave him a punch on the mouth, dashing off Immediately, he ran after him telling Mrs Scarlett to contact the police. Charles ran towards the gate, pushed the gate man and opened the gate, he left the hospital premises and made to cross to the other side of the road, Leo dashed out Immediately, he looked up and saw it coming on a high speed,



"Charles, watch out" he shouted, but it was too late as the trailer already hit Charles, sending him high in the air, he fell down with a loud thud and the driver ran away leaving his car.


"Charles, man, i warned you, i told you to look out, but you didn't listen to me" Leo sniffed placing Charles' head on his lap.


"Am sorry man, my mom made me do it, tell Louis that am sorry and that i love him, my mom's contact is in my phone, she was the last person i called and she is in Benin city not abroad as you people think, forgive me, I guess my end has come" he whimpered.


"Stop talking rubbish, am taking you back to the hospital for treatment" he said but felt Charles'body go cold. he sobbed standing up weakly.

Humbleness:
That's one thing with that big Man up there, he answers prayer.
Chiboy is unaware of the things happening around him o, thank God.

CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN


Nanya arrived at the hospital with a change of clothes for Louis and the fruits she had bought for him too, she happily walked down the hallway, got to the first door stopped and pulled it open, she walked down the private ward humming softly. she saw Leo, Dr Akachukwu and Mrs Scarlett walking tro and fro uncomfortably in front of the ward, she hurried immediately with the happy feeling already gone.


"What is happening?, why are you all outside?" she asked as her heart pounded.


"Nanya, i think you should go see for yourself" Leo said looking away.


"Somebody should start talking please, don't tell me something bad happened to Louis, Akachukwu?, Mom?" she sobbed.


"Am sorry Nanya, but i think you need to see things for yourself, just enter the ward first" Dr Akachukwu sighed.


Nanya rushed into the ward throwing the nylon she was holding a while ago away, she gasped as she looked up, on the wall just beside the AC was "WILL YOU MARRY ME IFUNANYA OBIDINMA" written boldly in capital letters. she covered her mouth again as her eyes fell on the decorations, tears strolled down her cheeks, she sniffed and looked around the ward searching for the culprit.


"Looking for someone?" Louis asked from the door smiling sheepishly.


"Yes, am looking for the guy that stole my heart and ran away with it" she giggled.


"How is the guy like?" Louis asked playing along.


"He is handsome, hardworking, kind, nice, anything you can say but don't forget to add hot, meeehn the guy is so hot that each time am with him, i always fan myself to avoid getting burnt" Nanya chuckled.


"Really?, am hot?, someone just admitted that am hot" Louis said smiling.


"And who said i was referring to you?" she sneered.


"It has to be me of course, your hot boss" Louis winked.


"You are full of yourself" Nanya laughed.


"I love you Nanya, so much, my life depends on it, with you, i always feel revived, you are a Pearl and a rare gem, am so scared to loose you, please be my wife" Louis said bringing a box out of his pocket.


"Wait a minute, and why are you not on your knees?, am not releasing my hand to you" she said with a hiss folding her hands against her chest.


"Yes ma, the landlady of my heart, am on my knees now baby, will you marry me?" Louis asked again.


"Yes, i will marry you, hot boss, slip the ring already" she said with a smile thrusting her hand forward.


He slipped the ring on her fingers, stood up and kissed her deeply, she kissed him back vigorously caressing his neck.


"Inukwa, so my son can kiss like this?" Mrs Scarlett chuckled entering the ward with Leo and Dr Akachukwu.


"Mom, you were not supposed to see that" Louis said bending his head in shame.


"My friend shut up there, what is there not to see?" Mrs Scarlett hissed.


"Congrats bestie" Dr Akachukwu said.


"Congrats Nanya" leo said smiling.


"Evil people, you wanted me to have a heart attack abi?" Nanya chuckled.


"oya oooo, let us fix the date, men on suit loading" Leo said giggling.












Nanya sat down in her living room admiring the diamond ring Louis had given to her, someone knocked on the door, she yawned, stood up and walked slowly to get the door, she opened it and hissed on seeing who was at the door.


"What are you doing here charity?" She asked eyeing her visitor.


"Can i at least come inside, i have many things to tell you" Mrs Charity said.


"Just say everything from there, i will understand" she eyed her again.


"Am sorry my child for treating you badly, i was angry at you because you were the reason Walter left me, if i hadn't gotten pregnant for Obidinma your father, Walter would have gotten married to me, but then i was drunk that night, The same thing with your father, we were away on a business trip, he was my boss, and then we had sex, when he found out about the pregnancy, he apologized and decided to marry me, that was why i hated you, because i never liked your father, am sorry" she said.



"Oh, how interesting, what of Chisom?, she did nothing to you, she was just a kid, you shouldn't have shifted your anger to her" Nanya scoffed.


"I treated her bad too because when Walter came back twelve years ago, i thought he had finally come to stay, but yet again, we had sex and i got pregnant, he denied it and fled, i was angry at your sister because she reminds me of him everyday" she explained.


"Can you hear yourself out?, do you know what mom?, just leave, i don't want to have anything to do with you, just go" she said banging the door.
