This questions comes to mind every time.
But I realized people get married for numerous and different reasons.

Common reasons while people get married are for procreation(children),money,sex,comfort,love etc.some others see marriage as an achievement,for status,for convinience and so on.

Personally I think the reason for marriage should be for companionship as God wanted it.he saw that Adam was alone so he brought a companion,every other things that follows are benefits associated with marriage and should not be the primary reason for marriage
