Well if you read his post, that’s not the case for him . He has bills to pay like accommodation and car payment . I’m familiar with North American system and have studied wages and taxes across the board. Very few people in this part of the world can save that type of money and those that do earn substantially higher.

Please i want to beg Nigerians to always read, and also do their own research, that's the best form of Education, having said that, what this op posted so far doesn't add up by 2%, if you must make six figures in North America, then you must be in a very high paying job, listen to me and listen attentively, no matter how much bonus you get, if you're not in a certain sector or certain companies, you can't make six figures let alone save six figures, and even if your boss is your father, the board of the company and state have specific salary structure. Even if your father gifts you over $10,000, you will be taxed, so i don't know where the op got all these figures he posted. $16/hr job will never give you six figures, even if you decide not to sleep for 365 days a year. Secondly, you have a limited amount of hours you can work, even if your body is made of rock.

Thirdly, nobody envies him or anything, but Nigerians must be told the truth at all times, and you should also do your own research. we have Nigerians who left 1.0million naira job, just because they were told Canada pays like crazy, be wise my people, Canada doesnt pay like crazy, do your own research, you find someone who is a highly skilled individual working in Walmart, why, no job for his/her skills out there. I have so many Indian friends in Canada, gurus in I.T, they all left India where they are well paid, only for them to land in Canada and no job.

Don' get me wrong people, Nigerians make it out there, but to be sincere with you, maybe few percentages of them, the rest are living basic lives, am not here to argue, am stating facts.

For me, the best country in the world is the country where your dreams come true, wherever you make it in life is your best country. I have met some Nigerian nurses in Namibia and other African countries, and believe you me, they earn over $3000/month, live in beautiful houses where the rent is less than $350, low tax, and they travel anywhere when they are on leave. To let you know, not so many Nigerians even earn $30,000/annum in U.S AND CANADA, these are facts.......may God take us all to our promise land, if your promise land is in congo, believe you me, you will make it better than folks in Europe, U.S or even Canada.

For me, i have traveled a bit in life, and God has been faithful, however, i will rather be a Dangote or Kofi Annan than be eager to get the blue passport, there are certain position you get to in life, even the embassy awaits your arrival, am not a blue passport fanatic, if it comes my way, fine, but i want to make a stamp on the world, and so my take-off point doesn't have to be Canada or U.S. God bless US all.

100% correct its not hating its reality. only few nigerians who left for canada got good jobs at a go , some are still work in progress and will get there. those in the auditing(big 4), consulting and some banking fields/IT are the ones getting good jobs immediately. the rest are customer care, security, admin etc while they go to school to meet up. the calibre of people canada is taking are not the average jo, some were managers and above here in nigeria and have pride/no hustle spirit . I know of someone who was a senior manager 40 and did an expensive MBA and remained there and cant get any good. the op's claims are only believable to only those who have never been to those western countries to know how things work. A security man cannot earn 100k CAD. the only way to earn that as a security is to go to Iraq to guard or protect oil installations from ISIS( you are likely going to die ).

People like the op give Nigerians back home a false information about life abroad . That a security guard earning $16 per hour is earning six figures lol. If that was possible then why would a good portion of people even bother to seek higher paying jobs . Ain’t nothing wrong with working security especially when you are newcomer to the country and/ or while pursuing higher education but be real about it. But the math is not adding up at all . Like I said there are labor laws , so there is only so many hours one is even allowed to work.

You spoke the truth my bro, even those in the U.S Army don't earn six figures, except the bosses, i have my persons U.S Army service ring on my finger right now, and not all of them earn six figures, let alone a security guard.

The statement in bold is not always true. If you plan your life properly you do not need to work more than 40hrs in a week to live decent and debt free life. With the correct residency status, people may have to work a lot of hours in a minimum wage job when they just arrive. With proper planning, they can eventually get a job in their profession and work only 40hrs a week. If you read the Op (@atutupoyoyo2211) post from start, you will see that this is what he is planning to do. He does not plan to stay in this kind of job for the rest if his life. Sadly, this type of opportunity is not available in Nigeria.

I have been trying to avoid talking about my own experience regarding @atutupoyoyo2211 approach because I am trying to protect my identity and also because if some people find it difficult to believe @atutupoyoyo2211 whose situation is very straight forward, how would they believe me. Without revealing too much about myself, I will at this point say a little to show what is possible with proper planning and prudent spending:

1. I came to Canada in 2001 with permanent residency visa (landed immigrant visa is what we called it then)
2. I worked in minimum wage job for one year at the same time trying to get my professional certification and register in my profession.
3. For the one year I was doing the minimum wage job, I was living and saving as I explained on page 11 here: https://www.nairaland.com/4857306/monthly-savings-canada/10#73854976
4. By early 2003, I got a job in my profession and started working only 40 hour a week because my salary back in 2003 was already 4 times what I was making while working minimum wage.
5. Two years later, in 2005 I bought my house with 20% down-payment. The down-payment was from all my savings from working minimum wage and 2 years of working in my profession.
6. I continued to live modestly and investing in the stock market (not just savings). This way I was able to fully pay my mortgage in 2015 which is 10 years after buying my house compared to others who spend recklessly and take between 25 to 30 years to pay off their mortgage.
7. Without being boastful, I can tell you that today (2018) I am a Millionaire in Dollars (in cash, stocks and other investments), my wife and I drive luxury SUV’s, we go on vacation with our kids twice a year (one trip within North America during the spring break in March/April and the second trip to anyone of either Europe or Asia or Nigeria when the kids are on summer vacation in July and August).
8. I have a lovely and supportive wife and amazing 3 kids that are making me proud and thankful to God daily.
9. All of the above do not include my wife’s savings and investment as she also works in her own profession.
10. I do not have any type of debt (no mortgage debt, no car debt, no credit card debt). I pay my credit card in full every month.

If the above is not fulfilling and living my Canadian dream, what else is it.

I know people with good skills but can't move due to financial constrains. I don't think this is about skills but rather your funds. There are so many people out there with good skills dying in Nigeria but can't afford to migrate to Canada
