Lovely input from all I wish I could be here fully but be it as it is we all will be fine. For me Army is number 1 this is my third time of trying and I pray it should be my last for good. 2016 could not make it to first shortlist, 2018 medical dropped me and now 2019 we die there but first I pray my name resurface again I have some unfinished business in NDA. This time there are things I need to do right.

Please and please i have an advice for everyone most especially during medical note this statement well for those that will be lucky enough to be shortlisted during medical always be calm and listen to instructions dont let over joy or to much morale get into ur head cos if so u might have problem with you medical i think that happened to me during January screening. I was diagnosed with large heart through X-ray wc was false cos when I reached home.i went to teaching hospital I was told I can't have large hrt without having high BP or abnormal ECG and I was advised to redo the xray wc was negative to army previous assertion but it was too late. I cried for dayz cos I was seeing what I love most leaving me and I could do nothing about it. This is another opportunity to correct my mistake wc I will try.

Most importantly please if u have a way of checking ur result please do if need be ask about the result for those that are instant so as to know if u will plead for it to be redo or not. Later I realise why i was diagnosed with large hrt without having it the man in charge told me he will tell me to breath in and out during the process of the xray but unfortunately i was still breathing out in other to prepare my heart for the breathing in proper then I heard we are done u can go but in my mind my chest is clear I won't have problem not know der is something called large hrt so please everyone let be careful and conscious of every step. I might not have time again but I think this will help 1 or 2 ppl thank you all I pray we get what we are praying for. Amin I rep SSC 46

Blood Pressure (BP), as minute as it might seem, is very very important as far as our health and Nigeria military is concerned.
BP disqualifies most people. Half of disqualified candidates at the last screening was as a result of high BP.

Then you'll begin to wonder, as a youth, what possibly could cause high BP.... You get back home and straight to the clinic to check your BP only to discover your BP is superbly normal... Then different thoughts will begin to fly in your head, like 'the medical personnels are incompetent', 'army just want to disqualify people, it's not a true reflection', 'village people' and so on.

But let me tell you one major cause, it's anxiety. Anxiety raises BP. Anxiety is your number one enemy in on NDA soil. Learn to fight it.

People with more Knowledge on this, please help us shed more light. Let's talk on how to fight it.

Morning my G
Honestly if I were to be in charge of that last screening for SSC I will take all the candidates to another medical facility for test rerun because the casualties was just to much most especially BP related and at the end many have related problem atleast that should tell them something but since they have der own agenda I don't think they care less cos DSSC have it differently and we are all from the same Nigeria sample size. All the same we just have to find a way around it this time around

Yea tension most times is the cause of high BP especially amongst candidates. one has to be very relaxed and try to make yourself happy/distract yourself from your fear.
2)Watch what you eat- Cut your your caffeine, salt in take and eat alot of fruits. Infact a week to the screening boycott all this as much as possible especially processed foods, instead eat alot of grains.
3)Take BP suppressants.- Many present terma 1 cadets used BP suppressants to control their BP, It worked like magic, I know 2 RC guys that failed medicals due to High BP but scaled through this year, according to them the BP pills did the magic.
Caveat:
I heard they tasted for BP drugs last year for SSC I don't know if it's true sha, so it's better you go now and do test so that you can start taking the drugs ahead of time. Anything above 120/80 is considered high. Below 100 is considered low but that's not really a problem because stress during that period will jack ur Bp up.
4) Lastly, Sleep very well during the interview because stress will surely increase the bp

Everyone please and please don't force urself just because of the kaki, its beautiful Nd smart as well as prestigious to wear but be inform its dangerous. I remember one night like that a soldier was brought into the medical facility from birni gwari. That night was tense for us all no singing, no noise, no side talk everyman with his/her thought because we heard the guy was short by bandit or kidnapper. I was in my head asking myself am I really cut out for this job and this type of fate if need arises but at the end something from the back of my head told me u said u wanted to be the strength of the helpless then I summoned my inner courage and said las las we all die. God bless the Nigeria armed forces. God bless Nigeria and God bless us all.
Note* Army job na jaki work from the story I wise man(sergeant dauda) told us so know what u are getting into.

For SSC guyz I don't think sleep is a friend with ATM u sleep 12 or 1am and wake up 4 30 and btw u will wash and prepare for the next day.

On the anxiety side I feel I have been able to deal with it long ago and it has helped me. The way is just to treat the whole process without interest the very moment your name is out, treat it as though something better awaits you like "Shell job" just handle it with I don't care attitude and don't put much expectation it. It would lessen your worries and watch how you scale through.
Re: Nigerian Army SSC And DSSC 2016/2017 Forum by Bakar1: 7:59am On Sep 13, 2019
So many inputs but let me just leave this here.

SSC or DSSC just know this you might be lucky enough not to face the North East at all, some DSSC guys Both Chaplin's and Imams are there fighting some SSC guys are in office.
Some SSC are even defense attache self.
But the SSC it all depends on your course, sometimes.

The point to note is that there's battle everywhere. our Army's here in this part of the world are doing the job of the Popo and the customs, and that breeds more danger.

Note with this you can be ambushed anywhere, everywhere anything Uniform work is very risky, even the lowest uniform work a Gateman he's the first point of contact and Target so you should be up for anything and everything.

The battle is everywhere in every region most people who are in the NE even out live some posted to crime free zones.

Last SSC some soldiers were ambushed I think they rushed one of their guys to NDA medical centre if am not mistaken the guy might have been dead even before entering the building.

You don't need to be in the NE for you to be in war, crisis no matter how little is a war on it's own, the thing there is are you prepared physically and mentally for what's ahead....?

There's the issue of kidnapping, militants and all sort where we still loose our soldiers and unform men.

What you should have at the back of your mind is, is this what I want to do...?

Less freedom and all.

Everywhere is a battle field from the start of you seeing your name on the list to you hanging pip.

It's never an easy terrain most of us just want jobs some got jobs but most want job security, others want fedral job, for some, I just want to be identified as a military personnel.

But if you don't try how would you know what's best or what's not, if you don't try how would you know if you end up Dead or not, we not God, no one knows tomorrow, you might be there and boom you'll flourish and become Generals.

Every die na die them say but who wan die them say.
But baba we all go die that same die someday.
You'll don't get discouraged if it's all destiny it would still come to play.
This life na like CD you play your part you pause you reflect but one thing for sure it would surely end.

Be your personal motivator oh, no one would feed you some people this is the job oh, every other job they applied no chance but this, once they just apply boom they get their shot no connect nothing, but if you loose guard it's all up oh.

As for medicals it's best to check everything before going your BP Blood test ECG Tuberculosis and all.
Not all abnormal ECG are wrong it depends on your readings the cardiologist reads, and if you BP is high it's better to start managing from now, and other stuffs it's better to manage from now.

You have to be a Strategist, a critical, and a tactical thinker to maneuver you way in this life oh even in the military.

SSC people mostly

Firstly, don't take drugs to suppress your BP....... Its harmful to your kidney, liver and bladder..........trust me, abstain from that.

Am currently working on my BMI, I know a couple of drugs I can take that will over beat the BMI standard but the after effects is disastrous........ Before I go to work,I skip ropes 400 times.....after work I skip 400 times....even more when I have the strength........... For the last 3 weeks I stopped taking carbonated drink(coke etc), no starchy food.....my new meal comprise of beans, egg, wheat, brown sugar/honey, vegetable soup with lots of obstacles in it, and fruits...and I sleep wella... I have dropped over 5kg since then..... without drugs, even I still do have temptation to take .

Now, back to your question.........

THIS IS HOW TO BEAT YOUR BP RANGE TO NORMAL.

1. drink lots of water.
2. Avoid pepperish food
3. Sleep well
4. Listen to cool music
5. Take a hike, soft one....not quick
6. Engage in turgid exercise but for a short time
7. Do breathing exercises for atleast 5 minutes...morn,after, night
8. Take fruits and vegetables
9. If you have a girl, flog her once in a while......not three times daily oh....once in three/two days ( this has effectively dropped bp of men within the range of 30-50 through research and those I have treated).....don't cheat, and remember...AIDS is real.
10 avoid quarrel, fight, argument
11. When you think too much(which is not avoidable) ...end it with thoughts of how far God has brought you (you are not sleeping under bridge e.t.c) or think of your crush...or see your self counting cash, not as a banker ..but your own real cash .

12. Lastly.....have this at the back of your mind... FOR ALL THE STRUGGLE YOU ENGAGE IN TO MAKE IT IN THIS LIFE, YOU WILL END UP SIX FEET BELOW.....SO WHY WORRY.

calm down....and have fun

NB: no BEER/GIN !!!!!!!!!!, Go for red wine (900-1500) and apple instead

Cheers

Common sense would choose Total. But as for me I don’t have sense I have never been cut out for civil jobs all my life till today. So the pips is more fulfilling to me grin

KODACK, as much as money is important in life. Not everyone is desperate to be rich. Some of us find it comforting just been able to sort out our basic needs. I got a slogan in life “No matter how much you get for account. Na die we go die one day and na one idiot wen no know how man take suffer go chop the money”. If I tell you now that since I finished service 90% of jobs I applied for are strictly humanitarian jobs. I know say you no go believe.

My brother, well truth is you would have multiplicity of thoughts in your cerebral but truly this is where PASSION comes in, with the kind of Passion I got for the Army job, the change I promised myself to make in the army and experience I intend to add, I can state without an ounce of doubt that I would resume at NDA. The NDA is where I can indeed fulfil my National pledge which is to defend the unity of Nigeria with all my strength, the NDA is where I can make a change to my country Nigeria and have my name in the sands of time. Total is a place I'm going to continue a routine and just live a rosy life full of no hassles, I have done civil jobs and office is just a boring place for me. While working with an FMCG I enjoyed the field more and its activity, guess what? I resigned still for the course of focus and preparedness for Army job. I'm still much young and would take the army for ever, anyday, anytime..

NA all the way!
