grin If quality was judged by pictures this GSG9 operator wouldn't cut it. Unfortunately I can't procure more of my collection of "over sized" Police/paramilitary tactical units the world over.

Like someone mentioned, a good unit/organization will have some BMI/weight standards for it's men but I fail to understand why a moderate belly (IMO) or a lanky structure suddenly qualifies somebody to make mockery. Growing around cantonment I see men of that same stature going through obstacle courses during Inter unit (In the Bn) competition.
Furthermore, every unit is founded upon a objective and capability gap. The terrain of operation determines the requirements of men.
If SAPS STF used their requirements for all police SF in the world, there'd be few. Just the same as others around the world using the operation req as prerequisite for others.

grin in a pic of 7, only one was singled out.

sorry to Burst your bubble evarn but, the Saudis have enough reserves in their stock yo upset any disruption to their insane 12b/day oil sales for the the time been, the prices may rise tommorow and in the coming days due to market picnicking, but would stabilize as the over-supply glut from the US and the non-compliance of Nigeria and other OPEC and OPEC+ countries to the market stabilization cut, I think those field should be up and running in few days time, but I can assure you, we won't be seeing a 70b/day oil sales again this year...I guess the positives we could take out of this is that we get to keep pumping 2.3b/day ish, without pissing off the Saudis and the Russians

The military didn't crush MEND and other Niger delta militants. In fact, with the military operation ongoing in the Niger delta, militants kept on bombing and yaradua had to give them amnesty.

We all saw what happened when PMB tried to stop paying militants, he had to change his position and started paying them when he saw the military couldn't stop them from bombing.

It's too soon to say the plants will be "up and running in few days", they were hit severally by up to 10 drones acting as cruise missiles. Barring the US opening up it's Strategic Petroleum Reserves and Saudi also pumping out it's National Reserves within the next 24 hours, oil prices will flare up in the coming days, and the prices will stay up for a while until Saudi manages to begin full operations. We are seeing increasing Iranian activities in the Strait of Hormuz, and disruption of oil supply within the past weeks. All these factors will come to play.

And as we continue to witness what a joke the Saudi's $80 billion military armament buying spree has become, who is to say we aren't going to see more of such attacks??.

If push comes to shove the Saudis will sign a pact with US and Israel to do the job for them(that's if they don't already have one), their military has always being a joke, because they've relied on their money to do the job for them.
Don't be surprised if US further reel out sanctions on Iran while Israel on the other hand push for a surgical strike.

These things you predicted are bound to happen. I expect that by now, Pompeo will have presented before Trump, the option of moving one of the US destroyers to "patrol" the Strait of Hormuz and conduct a naval exercise in the Persian Gulf. Israel is bound to conduct strikes on Quds forces and Iranian-backed operations in southern Iraq, in the process, violating international laws and UN resolutions.

I never thought the day would come that Saudi Arabia and Israel would become so cosy together grin but apparently, the crown prince has extraordinary ambitions. cheesy

If they could just dash us $5 billion to equip our military, instead of wasting it on dumb lazy arab soldiers angry What is that OIC for sef?

grin on my way from Maiduguri to Monguno today after a perfect Weekend Cool off. We came accross a Nigeria Military convoy angry that was moving at a snail speed and had to spend 6hours for a 2hour journey.

We got to a location where the Military sighted another convoy from afar and felt it might be BH shocked They all jumped down and took cover and told us behind to turn back with speed because of an impending exchange of fire.

shocked At that point i could feel my heart in my hands. I said to myself "oh Lord Jesus this is my final end grin cheesy" Later we all discovered it was Chadian Soldiers coming from afar.

Sincerely i give kudos to military personnel in this insurgency war. War no be movie oh grin

We got to another point where the Insurgents ambushed last two weeks. The Military sighted some movement from afar and started unleashing AA guns grin. The Chadian soldiers veered off the road with theirconvoy of cars into the bush immediately. Sincerely i don't understand the kind of moral the Chadians gat shaaaa.

wink i also noticed most Chadians were using a kind of gun that was different from AK-47. It almost looked like a Tarvor wink The Chadians also had a kind of AA gun that has 2 nozzle or 4 nozzle from what i saw and it was operated by 2 persons on the truck. I will like to know what kind of AA was that.

May God bless all our gallant men. This Insurgency war has made even AA gunshots now looks like a Christmas kids knockout now grin

Chadian soldiers are the most battle tested and experienced soldiers in West Africa as far as desert warfare is concerned. They're simply the best in that terrain.
But it is a thing of worry to me if up till now there is not an effective means of communication amongst allied forces against BHT. Only God knows the number of blue on blues incidences, it is sad and also quite unprofessional for troops to be working in the same general area without seamless communication. We saw the mess that happened in Taraba, we can do better.

Seriously ?

No offence but I find it hard to believe what u wrote about one side mistaking the other one for BH becz this means both sides have no comms with them , which if true is simply ludicrous.

All it takes is a simple radio call at pre designated frequencies to confirm friend or foe.

Disappeared? There was a time a Chadian commander accused Nigerian troops of cowardice, they angrily withdrew their troops from the fronts and Bokoharam held sway including the baga axis.
Ask any Nigerian soldier in the fronts about the Chadians. Those guys and Bokoharam have one thing in common, they're not afraid of death.

Maybe it's because they know more about BH than we do, afterall, BH recruits quite heavily from Chad. Interestingly, after all these years, these fearless Chadian gladiators haven't been able to secure the dozens of islands on their side of the Lake Chad where BH fighters use as hideouts.

Didn't their President, Derby, once orchestrate a scam ceasefire and make off with millions of dollars of our money?, the man chop our money, clean mouth grin

I am more concerned about the lack of communication between MNJTF units, it's very sad.

Speaking about Saudi Arabia, goodnews for Nigeria, opening oil prices tomorrow is bound to skyrocket. Recent Houthi drone attacks on two Aramco oil installations has halved production of Saudi Arabia oil to around 5 million b/d, as against the previous 11 million b/d. cool

At least for the next few months, oil prices could get as high as $80/barrel, thanks to *coughs* Iran *coughs* Houthi rebels grin grin

It appears that if BH/ISWAP were to invade Saudi, it would have taken over Riyadh by now. grin grin cheesy

Please don't compare Nigerian SFs with Saudi counterparts, it's a grave insult to our men. angry
Boss, if i were you, i wont start counting the petrodollar just yet because today, the Saudi Arabian Energy minister said that Saudi Arabia has enough oil in storage to meet demands globally for at least a full month.

This will offset any oil production deficits till repairs are done on the damaged facility.

Regarding the BH/ISWAP, i done think they will exist on Saudi soil even in a day. Have you seen the Saudi Arabian Air Force lately? They just concluded an aerial campaign that basically sent the whole of Yemen back into the 17th century.

Equipment-wise, The Saudi military is 100x better than the whole West African militaries combined. Go and confirm.

Do you things it is easy to continuously bomb another country every day for 3 years? Also, Their SF is highly powerful, don't let The media fool you.

What then do you think they will do to sambisa, Chad and Niger combined?

Also consider that the Houthis are 200x more equipped than BH/ISWAP.

The Houthis have cruise missiles and ballistic missiles amongst others, things BH/ISWAP pray for.

Also, the Saudi intelligence network is legendary considering that most terror group originates from their territory.

+++!
BH/ISWAP is more of a Nigerian embarrassment because it just shows the whole world our incompetence which we have been covering up with propaganda. (no offence).

From a ragtag group to a menace. Let me clear you on something, there are, *rumors* (emphasis on *rumor*) that the Nigerian military top officers have lost any hope on winning the war, all they hope to do now is to manage it and prevent it from escalating and causing more serious problems.

Realistically, i no longer believe that we can win this war as of now until maybe the Super Tucanos lands and more proactive approach & strategy is implemented.

But i must commend the men and women risking it all to keep us safe.. But in todays world, sheer will, dedication and patrotism dont win wars it only fuel the wheels of casualty count.

The thing about SF people don't understand is

The human element is important but they r next to useless if they do not have the resources to enable them.

SF forces need extraordinary allocation of resources inorder to enable them to carry out their mandated tasks which r of extraordinary nature.

Those resources include but not limited to communication support (eg underwater comms) anything beyond the inventory and requirements of the general military forces , personal gadgets of all kinds eg proximity locator , infrared 'radar' , acoustic/seismic detectors etc again not usually found in the inventory of general military , transport and recovery capabilities beyond the scope of usual military requirements ( sometimes depending on requirements SF carries helicopter landing mats with them , the more exotic ones r well too exotic ) , geo mapping , terrain analysis tools which work on the fly and connect via satellites anywhere across the world and allow sensor fusion , 3D location awareness systems , bridging systems which fit into a backpack , drones which take miniaturisation and stealth in acoustic and EM spectrum to another level etc etc.

50-70% of SF equipments , enabling resources , infrastructure etc r closely guarded secrets of the respective operators.

Very very few countries have a SF which r actually SF enabled in the truest sense . Going by open sources US , Israel , and to a limited extent Britain and Russia.

Well these *disruptive technologies * you mentioned are far beyond the reach of a lot of African nations. They are the preserves of first world nations.

Here in Africa we do things differently. We prioritize brute strength over exotic gears. Thats why you see photographs of supposedly SF jumping over fires and breaking bricks on their heads. E.g Algeria.

As a rule of thumb, if a SF unit find itself fighting hand to hand combat (as we see in Chinese movies) then somebody screwed up big time and will be sacked.

i remember a highly secretive US mission into a Middle eastern nation's naval base. The primary objective was to sabotash a certain suspected rogue naval asset.

The 3-man SF team sent to execute the job were so loaded with gadgets that they count only carry one suppressed machine pistol.

Imagine, just one suppressed pistol for 3-men. Yet they went in with their SDV, marginalised all threats and still achieved the primary OBJ.

Thats how SF work.

Let's see how tomorrow goes in the oil market. Though I do believe oil prices will increase significantly not just as a result of the drone attacks, but also due to increasingly disruptive Iranian activities in the Arabian gulf these past weeks.

Saudi sent the Houthis back to the 17th century? grin How come they missed the advanced drones used by the Houthi rebels in the recent attacks?, How come the sophisticated Lockeed Martin aerial defense systems that the US charged Saudi Arabia everything short of Prophet Mohammed's knee caps for couldn't prevent even a single drone from carrying out those strikes?; If the drones made a over 2000km journey from Iran, then the Saudis should have noticed(except of course, they and their radars were all sleeping when the drones were flying above their heads), and if it is from the Houthis,it is even more embarrassing.

Of course they can bomb a country every day for three years because they can afford it. I am yet to see any sophistication in the Saudi SFs or Intelligence, or would you call that Kperoogi scandal sophistication?, the Turks basically set them up.

As for the BH issue, I do agree with you that except new strategies are adopted, and maybe those crop dusters finally arrive from the US,then there is very high likelihood that this war will continue in it's current form.

bro stop tripping the Houthi repels don't have that kind of technology to carry out such attack. Iran is behind the blast which makes u question Saudi military upon all the money spent

Of course everyone knows that Iran is behind the strike. What is baffling most people is; From where was the attack launched?, and How did the drones evade the most expensive aerial defense systems in the solar system?.

If I were the Saudi crown prince, I'd start setting up the gullotine by now, because some "military" heads don't deserve the benefits of being attached to such incompetent necks. At least, beheading is something the Saudis seem to be good at.

until maybe the Super Tucanos lands and more proactive approach & strategy is implemented.
Weapons dont exactly win wars, the application of the weapons wins war , that too not in isolation but as one of the enablers amongst the many others which then only leads to a decisive outcome in a war or at best a situation which is agreeable to both sides.

Let me tell u something very though provoking from Chanakya who stated in Arthashastra that " victory on the battlefield is not the final remedy, but it is the acceptance of the final outcome by the defeated side "

The above is relevant even in the post , current and pre events of a conflict. Reverberates throughout the lifecycle of a conflict.

If one understands the context , then one will also understand the implications and what to aim for wink

During a conflict u can kill 10 , but what happens when another 20 replaces them and then again and then again ?

The more the cycle of violence is allowed to continue, the more the occurrence of the latter. Targeted management of a conflict unfortunately carries this inherent risk.

Again in a conflict between 2 sides the margin of superiority ( symmetric or assymetric or both ) generally determines the degree to which violence ( and no of violators ) can be limited.

And if the margin of superiority is predominant the lower the chances of being challenged to a war.

And if there is challenge, the greater the margin of superiority the greater is the chances of suppressing the challenge quicker albeit with lesser degree of violence.

Many of u will make the usual mistake of identifying superiority with military might. But the truth is superiority is multidimensional and it's factor interdependent.

Additionally Chanakya emphasized on using politics with military power as an ancillary. However here I see the reverse. ( I might be wrong since I am not too well informed regarding this , my apologies if I am wrong , u guys will know the situation better )
