NAF Ordinance technicians with an improved version of the FAB 500, the FAB 500 M54 BOMB; These bombs are part of a family of weapons known as volumetric weapons, dispersing fuel into the air around the bomb moments before detonation. The fuel then ignites, creating a large fireball and causing a termobaric powerful shock wave.

NAF sparsely uses the FAB 500 M54 bomb due to its highly destructive potential, opting mostly for 500kg and 250kg bombs due to the nature of this insurgency to avoid collateral damage and settlement destruction. Below are the effects of the bomb on the abandoned settlement of Shafaron in Adamawa back in 2017 when the insurgents were stronger and operated in the area.

Yes, in 1967 during the Biafran war, the Nigerian Navy shocked Colonel Ojukwu when NNS Nigeria and NNS Ogoja cannoned Biafran installations in Bonny and in a spectacular amphibious landing, took over the oil fields in the area. Biafra's flagship BNS Ibadan was also grounded and destroyed while engaging NNS Ogoja off the Bonny coast.

Yes. Tiger claw was the blanket name for the series of engagements. But the bonny operation was not really part of Benjamin Adekunle's tiger claw.

On my way to cool off as usual from Monguno to Maiduguri, we met a very huge convoy of Chadian Soldiers sad A journey of an hour turned into a 4hour trip sad

They were headed to the location that BH promised to celebrate today's Friday Jumaat with the villagers. On Monday bokoharam attacked that location and took away the keys to the Central mosque and sensitised the Villagers that they are God's chosen. They spent the whole night sensitising the villagers.

After following the Chadian Soldiers on a snail speed to the location i saw over 100 vehicles of both Chadian and Nigerian soldiers there, it was definitely a beautiful sight to behold and i almost told my driver to drop me off so i can witness the showdown from 1pm if BH attacks grin smiley

Pix attached when the Chadians spent over 30mins fixing theor vehicle tyre in a location BH usually visits to fetch water grin

In Maiduguri already cool May God bless our gallant men

PRESS RELEASE

BHT/ISWAP KEY COMMANDERS MEET THEIR WATERLOO IN LAKE CHAD REGION

The MNJTF and the the Nigerian Armed Forces are in celebrative mood today and have been basking in the successes of their combined efforts of artillery and air bombardments of suspected hideouts of erstwhile Boko Haram/ISWAP at the Tumbus of Lake Chad region that neutralized many including key commanders.

However, it was mourning and a monumental set back to the erstwhile Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters hibernating at the triangular area.

Reliable information coming out from the inner circles of the demented and criminal group’s enclave escaping to Sudan and Central African Republic, indicates that at least not fewer than 7 of their key commanders have been wasted by the superior forces of the MNJTF.

The neutralized commanders are said to be Abba Mainok, Bukar Dunokaube, Abu kololo, Abor Kime (said to be of Arab origin - likely their ISIS trainer), Mann Chari, Dawoud Abdoulaye (from Mali) and Abu Hamza.
All these were said to be commanders of various Tumbus controlling fighters before they were decisively dealt with and sent to the pit of hell by the military bombardment. Although these names may be not be real and may likely nicknames alias, nonetheless, it is an unprecedented feat to our quest of clearing the remnants of these criminals in the area. Consequently, efforts are ongoing to get more information on their true identities.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai had through the Theatre Commander Multinational Joint Task Force and the Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE commended the troops for this great efforts and enjoined them to do more.

SABOTAGE OF THE COUNTER INSURGENCY OPERATIONS IN THE NORTH EAST

The Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE (TC - OPLD)) has observed with utter disappointment and concern the notorious activities of some Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) working in the North East (NE) Nigeria.

The subversive and actions of the NGO Action Against Hunger (AAH) persisted despite several warnings to desist from aiding and abetting terrorists and their atrocities The TC - OPLD has on many occasions raised alarm over this unwholesome practices of some NGOs and expressed same position during meetings with the NGOs operating in the NE Theater of Operation.

Consequently, the AAH has been declared persona nan grata for aiding Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State West Africa by supplying them food and drugs despite warning from the TC - OPLD.

The Command has obtained several credible intelligence indicating AAH as one of those NGOs operating in the NE that is notorious in supplying food and drugs to the criminals in the area.

Members of the public are enjoined to continue to give credible information on the activities of the marauders/criminals and their supporters in the NE Theatre of operation.

The OPLD wishes to assure the public of its resolve and determination to always partner with credible NGOs and CSOs to cushion the impact of humanitarian crisis generated by the criminals in the NE in line with the international best standards

NIGERIAN COURT NULLIFIES POLICE "MARRIAGE PERMIT" - Female Cops Can Now Marry Without Permission From The Nigeria Police Force.

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has declared illegal and unconstitutional the provision of the Police Act, which prohibits a woman police officer from marrying a man of her choice without the permission of the Commissioner of Police in the command where she is serving. This was sequel to the suit filed by the Women Empowerment and Legal Aid Initiative (WELA) challenging the constitutional validity of Regulation 124 made pursuant to the Police Act (Cap P19 ) Laws of the Federation of Nigeria which states:
“A woman Police Officer who is desirous of marrying must first apply in writing to the Commissioner of Police for the State Command in which she is serving, requesting permission to marry and giving name, address and occupation of the person she intends to marry. Permission will be granted for the marriage if the intended husband is of good character and the woman police officer has served in the force for a period of not less than three years.”

In her submissions the WELA Executive Director, Mrs. Funmi Falana had argued that it was illegal to ban a woman police officer for three years before entering into a marriage and that seeking permission of a Police Commissioner is an infraction of her fundamental right to dignity and freedom of choice. She further contended that since a male police officer is not subjected to the same inhibitions Regulation 124 is inconsistent with section 42 of the Constitution and Article 2 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights which have prohibited discrimination on the basis of sex.

Mrs. Falana urged the Federal High Court to expunge Regulation 124 from the Police Act as it is not reasonably justifiable in a democratic State like Nigeria which has domesticated the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights and ratified the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and People Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

In his reply the Attorney-General of the Federation through his Counsel, Mr. B.R. Ashiru maintained that Regulation 124 is designed to protect women police officers from falling into the hands of criminals. It was his submission that the purpose of the law is to prevent women police officers from marrying men of bad character. He also defended the 3-year ban on the ground that it is meant to ensure that a woman police officer is not pregnant “during the rigorous training she must undergo after her employment”.

In his judgment the trial judge completely rejected the arguments of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation. While upholding the submissions of Mrs. Falana the Judge held that Regulation 124 was illegal, null and void due to its inconsistency with Section 42 of the Constitution. Having declared it unconstitutional the judge proceeded to annul Regulation 124 by virtue of Section 1(3) of the Constitution.

General Otiki in my opinion is merely dramatizing. Coming to face a judicial panel in a wheelchair and feigning illness on the cusp of a court hearing are political gimmicks that have unfortunately crept into the military.

If he feels Lt. Gen. Adeosun is a biased adjucator, then he should present facts to that effect, not turn the court room into an arena for his CoAS ambition. As it is, Adeosun is already CoAS in all but official title.

Nairaland should ban this Evarn Buharist of an APC operative. He has no business been here other than to subtly promote the archaic tendencies of an inept and morally bankrupt government bent on installing the Asiwaju as Nigeria's next president as an entitlement for almost single handedly making Buhari president.

Adeosun has no business holding any command or been promoted Lt. Gen. except for being Tinubu's eyes and ears in the Armed Forces. Under his watch as Army chief of operations ISWAP/BHT ran amok and almost overwhelmed the entire 7 Division and MNJTF. Nah not only in all but name COAS while the equally now incompetent Buratai is made CDS and we start all over again from the beginning on a never ending CT/COIN war that feeds the pockets of bloated Generals that have clearly run out of ideas while the competent and professional ones are been set up for GCM or rendered redundant with non-combat deployments and irrelevant postings.

This same Evarn continues to write rubbish that does not meet the test of intellectual scrutiny blaming the failure of governance on the people rather than those vested with power to solve the problems. This Evarn calls his own compatriots drug dealers and human traffickers in foreign countries an affront on Nigerianness as if to say that's the nature of the Nigerian which is quite the opposite as most aliens know judging from the ingenuity of the average Nigerian to make ends meet against all odds. OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE ASSURES GAJIRAM COMMUNITY OF SECURITY, Urges them not to panic and continue with their normal activities

Following reports of terrorists plan to attack /invade Gajiram town, conduct inductrinatory preaching before observing the Friday congregational prayers today, many locals of Gajiram became apprehensive and reluctant to attend Jumuat service in the mosque.

On receipt of the information/report, the Commander Sector 3, Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD)/Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major-General AB Biu, directed his Artillery Brigade, Brigadier commander-Brig Gen JAL Jimoh, to move to Gajiram and reassure residents of the town of Army's readiness to protect them and their properties in Gajigaram and its surrounding areas.

While in the community (Gajiram), Brig Gen Jimoh, further urged them to go about their normal activities and legitimate businesses peacefully, without any fear.

Consequently, there was large turn-out of the residents for the Jumuat prayer with Brig Gen JAL Jimoh, and other Muslim officers and soldiers in attendance. Including the Commander of the Chadian troops under the MNJTF.

The prayers was hitch-free. Brig Gen Jimoh through a Kanuri interpreter addressed the people, reassured them of their safety. He solicited for the support and cooperation of the community by providing credible information on the movements and activities of the fleeing criminals hibernating in the area.

At the moment, security situation in Gajiram is fully under control, while military patrols have also been intensified.

Further plan to project the joint forces is already under way, with the troops morale and fighting spirit very high occasioned by the latest successes against the BH/ISWAP criminals and marauders among other reasons.

UPDATE ON GAJIRAM

Following the successful conduct of Jumuat prayers yesterday, and robust deployment of troops in Gajiram, the general security situation is now calm and peaceful, with the people of the area conducting their routine businesses without any fear. The Divisional Police Officer of Gajiram has also returned to the town with his men, to re-open the Gajiram Police Station.

Similarly, on Thursday, 19 September 2019, 100 hunters/Vigilantees have returned to Gajiram from Maiduguri, the Borno State's capital.

Both the returnees (hunters, vigilantees and Nigerian Policemen) were received by the representative of the Commander, Sector 3, Operation Lafiya Dole, - the Commander Artillery Brigade Brigadier-General JAL Jimoh.

The hunters vowed to never leave Gajiram again. They reaffirmed their support to Army's troops, promising to consolidate their collaboration with the Army by providing vital timely information and support to aid patrols and other operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP Criminals and marauders.

The security situation and general atmosphere in Gajiram town is relatively calm and peaceful. Troops morale in Gajiram Response Area is high with long range patrols been conducted in line with the Super Camp Concept of the counter terrorism operations.

Meanwhile, sensitization/psychological operations campaign is in progress across Gajiram, Magumeri, Gubio, Kukawa, Gudunbali and adjoining villages of Borno State.

So far, over 20, 000 copies of psychological operations/Sensitization leaflets have been forwarded to the Headquarters Theatre Command for coordination with the Air Task Force to air drop the leaflets on selected locations in the tumbus.

The air dropping of the leaflets, if conducted alongside ongoing air and artillery interdictions, would exert additional pressure on BH/ISWAP bandits/crouching terrorists' leaders.

With the increasing support from well meaning Nigerians, the morale and fighting efficiency of troops have remain generally satisfactory. The Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE further Solicits for more Cooperation, understanding and support of all Nigerians in our collective struggle to crush the insurgency.

These fugitives have been escaping and taking refuge in the residence of some persons in Maiduguri, Damboa, Gajiram, Monguno, Damasak, Biu, Gwoza Dikwa, Benisheikh, Ngamdu, Bama, Gamboru, Konduga, Gajigana and other smaller towns all in Borno State. Others, have also ran to Damaturu, Gujba, Buni Yadi, Buni Gari, Gashua, Kanamma, Yususufari, Goniri and Kukareta towns in Yobe State, among others.

While we are making concerted efforts to trace and fish out the fleeing criminals, it is important to inform and warn all those harbouring the fleeing fugitives to report or hand them to the troops of OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE immediately. Failure to do that would attract severe consequences.

Boko haram can't hold a single village in Benin republic, but boko haram can hold more than one town in Nigeria grin

Benin with less than 5,000 troops is far far more peaceful than Nigeria with a large military force struggling against a rag tag boko haram. You don't still understand it, Benin republic security are more competent than Nigeria, a group like boko haram can never exist in Benin republic.

What was the population and numbers of military personnel of Finland compared to that of the USSR military personnel and population? You think war is like ludo abi? grin
. U think so Broda.....If Boko Haram or ISWAP heads now to Benin republic...hmm grin it is finished ooo...it won't be easy for Dem at all...Now I get ur points though but if it happens it will be another #Mali Intervention
