foreign rice (Thailand) are exported in tons I.e 20 bags with a resultant cost of N9,800 per bag. it travels all the way to Nigeria with series of charges and duties paid and even smuggled into the country before finally getting to the local market where it is currently selling for N21,000 per bag. But local rice with government loan for farmers, fertilizer and land support from government without import duty nor shipping cost etc. this local rice currently sells in the local market for N20,000 per bag. the borders are currently closed to force this local rice on Nigerians . Are we really growing the economy like this? how much will be the landing cost of Nigerian rice in Thailand?

U have valid points thou but health wise doctors do recommend the local rice and for me it's sweeter especially with my ofe anwu lol. Its just that the local rice is not well processed at all, one still have chaff and stones to deal with and it's not fun at all

Nigeria does not have comparative advantage to produce rice to take care of needs of nation. We should focus on produce we have comparative advantage over other nations that we can even earn money from export tariff. we can even sign trade agreement with any rice produce nation to import rice through sea port while land borders are closed for eternity. Government should even erect walls to protect our porous borders.
well, I can survive without rice.

the best processed local rice cannot compete in the international market with the too expensive final cost
