I haven’t submitted my application yet. Even if I try to look for extra months to move my work experience to 1 year, I am currently a Masters student now so any work experience I have during this period cannot be used right? This is just me trying to do whatever possible But if I leave the country I’m doing my Masters and travel to Nigeria for a two month holiday and during that period, I work to make up the missing 2 months from NYSC, will that work experience count? Since technically I’m working in a different country from my studies and I’m not a student in Nigeria..I’m asking this because I feel like there’s no work experience I can obtain now that can be beneficial so I might be grasping at straws but I feel like I need to try whatever I can.

johnnybravo1990:

My dear, your case use style take serious o. Have you already submitted an application? You should have sorted this before applying if you have already applied. Look for extra months of work to cover for the months you were out of the country if upyou are yet to submit your application.

I know I’ll still come back and give my final story but let me start with IELTS first.

1ST IELTS: 01 NOV 2018 LRWS: 7.5, 9, 6.5, 8.5.
2ND IELTS: 05 JAN 2019 LRWS: 8.5, 6, 7, 7.5.
3RD IELTS: 09 FEB 2019 LRWS: 8.5, 7, 6.5, 8.5.
4TH IELTS: 20 SEP 2019 LRWS: 8.5, 8.5, 7, 8.5

Finally got the perfect score I needed for my ielts!!!! When I started this journey I had no idea about this thread or what I was really doing. I just knew one had to write ielts, and you can apply for EE. I practiced for the first one only a week before my exam, and had I known I might have remarked. The second time I wrote it, I practiced a lot with Jay, and ieltsliz. I remember going into the exam hall feeling overly Cocky like I had a cheat sheet or something, and that definitely affected my reading score. The third time I wrote it with BC I was much more sober but didn’t get the score I needed. I requested for a remark but the score didn’t change. The fourth time, I found Johnnybravo on NL and immediately contacted him about my writing 3 days to my exam.
Writing: contact Johnnybravo. He’s the best really.
Congrats dear. I remember those 3 days of our coaching. smiley It was a marathon and a rush program which I normally do not accept to do a because of the stress involved. I like to touch on all areas of IELTS writing. It was really draining on me because of the multiple reviews and calls we did everyday, but I am so glad our efforts paid off. Congrats on your future ITA.

Thank you.
I used CES-University of Toronto. 12 weeks and 5 days, from when my official transcript landed there, was what the processing time was. My degree was a professional degree, and my university was a 1st generation federal university in Nigeria. So I had no issues at all. My ECA report stated that my degree(one of the 6-years medical courses) was equivalent to the Canadian degree in that field, and that my degree was from a recognized university.
I hope this helps.

Here you go:

Step 1: Take IELTS and attain CLB 9 (viz: band score of 8777 in LRWS)

CLB 9 gives candidates additional language points boost of 50–60 points. If you are able to reach the score of 440+ without CLB 9, that is fine too.

Cost - 75000 for British council and 68,000 for IDP/MOD every time you take IELTS.

Step 2: Get your ECA done (6–8 weeks)

ECA is Education Credential Assessment. It is done by multiple organisations (WES is one of them) and provides you the Canadian equivalent degree assessment of your native country education.

Cost - Approx 285 CAD. (220 CAD Fee + 85 CAD International Delivery for WES report)

Step 3: Create EE profile on CIC website with your attained IELTS score and ECA

Making a profile enters you in the pool of candidates waiting for the ITA (Invitation to Apply). Make sure all the information mentioned in the profile is accurate as you will be asked to provide proof of all that information once you are selected.

Cost - 0

Step 4: Wait for the draw to reach your score and receive ITA afterwards

The ROI (Rounds of Invitation) happens every 2 weeks. The Canadian govt declares the min cut off score of the EE profile and all the candidates having that score or score more than it will get ITA. The score varies and is tweaked to meet the usual 3500–3500 applicants quota per ROI.

Cost - 0

Step 5: Post ITA, you get 2 months to submit your documents

After candidates receive ITA, they are supposed to provide documents and proofs of all the information mentioned in their profile along with few others. The documents/information needed from the candidates are:

Scan of Travel Document (Passport) of all applicants and visa stamp pages
Digital Photograph of all applicants
Proof of Employment of primary applicant
Proof of Funds of primary applicant
Proof of Medical of all applicants
Proof of Education & IELTS as applicable
Police Clearance Certificate (From all countries where you have resided for 6 months or more) of all applicants
Cost varies as Medical cost, PCC fees, Notarization fees etc varies as per the country. Ideally, all expenses should be covered within 300–350 CAD per applicant.
Police certificate in Nigeria: https://www.gateway.ng/Nigeria-Police-Report

Step 6: Submit documents, pay Immigration Fee and wait for the PPR (PassPort Request - For stamping)

After submitting the documents and paying the Immigration fees, the Canadian Immigration officers verify the documents and information provided. This generally takes 2–6 months depending on the application type, countries a person has resided in and most importantly, the immigration visa office where the application has been sent for processing and how much applications' backlog is there.

visa office processing time is usually 6 months, though it could take less time to process and verify the submitted documents, sometimes even more!

Cost - 1050 CAD x No. of Applicants in the application for PA and spouse and $150 per child

Step 7: PPR received. Submit Passport and get Canada CoPR (Confirmation of PR)

Once the documents are verified, candidates are intimated about the result of their application via mail. On successful processing, candidates are required to submit the passports of all the applicants for the Visa Stamping and CoPR. Passport is being sent by VFS Global and would cost around 30 CAD per passport. The stamped passport is returned to the designated address within 2 weeks along with 2 copies of CoPR.

Cost - Approx 30 CAD x No. of Applicants

Step 8: Reach Canada on CoPR and apply for PR card

Applicants are supposed to travel to Canada within the tenure mentioned on the stamped visa. The tenure is generally till the time passport is valid or till medical proof is valid, whichever is earlier. In any case, visa will not be for more than 1 year.

Applicants are supposed to plan their travel, temporary or permanent migration, to Canada within the Visa timelines and submit one copy of CoPR at the time of landing. The other copy is stamped and returned.

Submitting CoPR means that Candidates have successfully landed in Canada and this in turn initiates the PR

card application for each applicant.

Cost - Travel Cost of each applicant

Step 9: Receive PR card (2–3 months)

Official PR Card processing time is 62–65 days and the PR card will be couriered to the address given by the applicants at the time of their landing. The address has to be a Canadian address.

PR Card will be delivered to the address within 50–80 days. In case you have performed soft landing (temporary migration) just to fulfill the landing formalities before the Visa expires, you can request any friend coming to your native country to bring along your PR card or you can apply for PR travel document from your home country next time you want to go to canada without having PR card.

PR cards are not couriered outside Canada and have to be delivered in person in such scenarios.

Step 10: You are Canadian PR. Enjoy!

Once you have your PR card, you are officially a Canadian PR. Have fun!

PR card is provided with validity of 5 years. A person is suppose to live in Canada for 730 days in consecutive 5 years to continue his/her PR card for next 5 years after the expiry.

If a person has stayed in Canada for more than 1095 days in consecutive 5 years, he/she is eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship.

Some Acronyms Frequently Used in this post & during Visa Processing:

CLB - Canadian Language Benchmark
ECA - Education Credential Assessment
EE - Express Entry
ROI - Round of Invitations
ITA - Invitation to Apply
CoPR - Confirmation of Permanent Residency
PPR - Passport Request
PR - Permanent Resident (Residency)

All the best!

The fourth time, I found Johnnybravo on NL and immediately contacted him about my writing 3 days to my exam. He was meticulous, and ensured that he took me through each part of task 1 and 2. I’m certain that because of The Lord, and him I was able to attain the perfect score I got in writing because that was my weakest part, and what kept holding me back. Anyone who has issues with their writing should please reach out to him. He is extremely good!

My Tips:

Speaking: I like to talk so it’s quite easy for me to go on and on but I also practiced everyday for at least ten minutes on different topics, and recorded myself. If you’re stumped on topics to talk about, check out for podcasts on different topics that can help your vocabulary.

Listening: I did about four exercises each day, and became used to listening attentively. Practice without earphones and with just to be more comfortable. I downloaded the Cambridge 2-13 books from page 1 or so and it was extremely helpful.

Writing: contact Johnnybravo. He’s the best really.

Reading: I’ve always loved reading. I read novels, fiction, and anything really. I started reading The Economist just to get used to different words. Just ensure you time yourself, and use the answers behind the textbook to correct yourself where you make mistakes. I also used IELTSLIZ for this part especially the true/false section.

On a final note, please practice everyday. Go into the exam hall confident, and sure of yourself. May we all get our hearts desires.

It's actually not for me. However, how can one obtain ATS? Is one required to complete the ATS 1-3 before the certificate is issued? The person is question has BSc Accounting Education, and I do not think he started from the 1st stage of ICAN. Please explain further for me in case I am getting it wrong, please.

If the person donot have ATS but ACA, then its useless as ACA (ICAN) = no cert in Canada. Tell him/her to enroll for CIMA so he/she can claim 2 or more cert .

Hello guys,

I’ve a uk masters degree WES verified
Preparing to write IELTS next month
However, during my stay in the uk, I worked as a steward at events especially at stadia for different football club and as such had to undergo some training which resulted to the attached certification.

My question now as I can see that the certification is regulated by Ofqual and Cea accreditation, can this certification fetch me some point in this quest?
If yes, how best can I explore that option

Hi, please i want to ask if you can share the content of the final assessment of ICES ECA. If i am not asking too much, maybe a screenshot of your own completed ECA evaluation from ICES.

NB: Why i am asking is because i would like to know in particular if date of birth is part of what will be captured in the report. There is a mistake on my wife's O'level certs and so i am weighing options of WES or ICES.

ALSO, How can i send private message on this platform?
